From the Sun! No prize for first joke about name. FRENCH FANCY Marcus Coco emerges as Rangers transfer ‘target’ as reports claim Gers ‘lead chase’ for Ligue 1 star RANGERS are eyeing up Nantes winger Marcus Coco on a free at the end of the season, according to reports in France. The 26-year-old former Guingamp midfielder has been with Nantes for four years, but is out of contract at the end of the season and is set to leave. Marcus Coco at his previous club GuingampCredit: Getty - Contributor He stated last week he needed to go to a club who would offer him more regular playing time and Rangers are reportedly leading the chase to land him when his contract expires in the summer. Coco battled back from a medial knee ligament injury that kept him out for nine months two years ago, but hasn't managed to force his way back into the plans as a regular started for Nantes manager Antoine Kombouare, the former Aberdeen captain. However, he's still managed to make 25 appearances for Nantes this season, although only three of them were starts in Ligue 1. Before this season, he was a key player for Nantes though and helped them win the Coupe de France last year. He is usually a left winger, but has played on the right wing too and even as a full back with Nantes. However, he wants to be a regular starter and stated last week: "Next season, I need to be playing regularly. That is my priority. "My career has been built through confidence and you can only get that through regular playing time. "I will be 27 in June. Your career goes super fast and we must not tell ourselves that we have time. We must do everything to act in the present moment and not let it pass."

From the Sun!! Ex-Rangers chairman Dave King reveals he rejected bumper £25m offer for stake in Ibrox club DAVE KING says he’s rejected a whopping £25.3million offer for his stake in Rangers. The former Ibrox chairman, who owns just over 63million shares in the club, revealed he was approached by an unnamed bidder last month. King had previously met with American businesswoman Kyle Fox — but the offer DIDN’T come from the States. The tycoon said talks with a consortium took place less than two weeks after Gers issued 7.7m new shares at 25p each. King said: “I recently turned down an unconditional cash offer of 40p from a group other than Kyle Fox’s, so 40p is presently a fair price. “But 25p undervalues the price of the shares by almost 40 per cent. “I wonder how the board would react if supporters asked for a 40 per cent discount on next season’s ticket prices?” King is furious that new shares were issued just days before his successor Douglas Park announced he was standing down as chairman. Gers will raise almost £2m if those shares are sold for cash. But it’s unclear whether they are converting loans into equity, as they have done in the past.

A Rangers spokesperson said: “Firstly, Rangers condemns in the strongest terms any abuse of match officials. We are all passionate about our game, but targeted, personal abuse of referees cannot be tolerated. “The club can confirm the Scottish FA has responded with regards to the disallowed Alfredo Morelos goal, with the response claiming the correct decision was taken. The club is astonished by this, especially given most observers, including former referees and former players, could see no issue with the goal standing. “This comes following a weekend in England where PGMOL have offered an apology to Brighton and Hove Albion for the non-award of a penalty in their match with Tottenham Hotspur, alongside a pledge to review the incident. “While an apology does not alter the outcome of a match, such responsibility and openness would be welcome in Scotland.”

Rangers in hunt for USMNT striker Brandon Vazquez after Europe admission made, Middlesbrough and Norwich interestedBy George Overhill 6th Apr, 2023 | 6:10pm Rangers have already scouted FC Cincinnati striker Brandon Vazquez amid an admission from the player he wants to move to Europe, 90min reports. The 24-year-old is attracting widespread interest on this side of the Atlantic after scoring 19 times and assisting eight more across 35 MLS regular season and playoff appearances in an “impressive” 2022 season. He had previously suggested to 90min in January that he wasn’t ready to “let go” of what he had achieved with Cincinnati, but has since admitted of his ambition to play in Europe saying, as per 90min: “For sure, that’s the next step that I want to take.” He will apparently have no shortage of suitors with England Premier League sides Everton, Crystal Palace and Bournemouth “keeping a close eye” on him, while the Light Blues are not alone in scouting the USMNT international. Norwich, Sheffield United and Middlesbrough have also had a look at him, as his style of play is thought to suit English football. Subscribe Michael Beale wants to add in his forward department and if Alfredo Morelos leaves then the need for a new striker is going to be even more pressing. The last arrival from MLS was not quite the success that everyone had hoped for, with James Sands’ loan ultimately cut short instead of being made permanent. Vazquez had an excellent 2022 season that saw him make the All Star game as a replacement, scored on his international debut, and is part of a side that is top of their conference so far in the 2023 campaign with a goal and assist to his name. He won’t have so many teams in England looking at him for nothing but if the Gers are to put everything into winning the race for a deal they will need to be sure that he has made a step up that will last, having only netted four times in 31 appearances in 2021, admittedly mostly off the bench. There is sure to be a decent amount of movement in and out of Ibrox this summer if Beale gets his way, and new chairman John Bennett will surely have plenty of questions to answer if the upgrade to the squad isn’t complete enough. Vazquez appears to be in the conversation and ready to make a move, so if the Rangers boss likes him there is a good argument to say the SPFL is the right next step before the Premier League, but it looks set to be a crowded race.

No denying he’s been a great keeper over the years. I don’t hold with these testimonials for players who have been very well paid over the years. If it’s for recognition/appreciation and not for personal monetary gain and monies to charity that would be fine.

Rangers Youths News & Reports on Rangers Youth Teams « Academy Double Header U15’s Take On EPL Academies Rangers Under 15’s travelled through to The Orium today to take on Manchester United and Newcastle United in two fifty minute games, Rangers used a total of twenty-one players which included three U16 players that fitted in with the English U15 age profile and three U16’s who would have been classed as U16’s in England. Rangers 0 Manchester United 0 Rangers were pinned back for most of the game against Manchester United but defended manfully and limited the chances for the opposition. The only time a keeper was called into action came in the first half when an attack took the visitors into the left side of the box with Rydnn Maguire diving to his left to save the shot. Rangers ventured forward once in the first half which saw Olly Goodbrand hit the left hand byline, from his cross Cormack Christie was stretching to reach and could only head the ball over. The second have followed a similar theme with Rangers defending well and limiting the chances so much that Greig Thackray never had to make a serious save. Full-Time:- Rangers 0 Manchester United 0 Rangers First Half:- Rydnn Maguire; Jack Caldwell, Olly Hynd, Duncan Barlow, Olly Goodbrand; Aidan McCallion; Harry Weir, Alex Smith; Ronald Nimyel, Cormack Christie, Flynn O’Brien. Rangers Second Half:- Greig Thackray; Arran Kerr, Evan Molloy, Leo Fisher, Thomas Forrester; Aiden McCallion; Callum Fernie, Lyle Wark; Brandon Ramage, Trialist, Jose Calela. Rangers 1 Newcastle United 1 The second game was a much more even and open affair with Newcastle taking the lead on the half-time whistle and Rangers levelling right at the end of the second half. Rangers were pinned back in the opening five minutes but again defended well with Greig Thackray not being called to make a save. Rangers then mounted an attack on six minutes, Callum Fernie played the ball forward to Jose Calela inside of the box where his touch took him wide of the keeper but he could only shoot into the side netting. A good passing move ended with Arran Kerr picking out Brandon Ramage inside the right side of the box but he shot over. Lyle Wark played the ball forward to Jose Calela whose back heel flick sent the Trialist in a race with the keeper, he got there first but the ball came off the advancing keeper. Newcastle then threatened at the other end with an attack along the right hand byline and from the shot Greig Thackray stuck out a foot to block the shot. A similar chance soon followed and when the shot from a tight angle came in Greig Thackray produced another save. Right on the stroke of half-time when he was beaten by a shot from around thirty yards into the top corner. Rangers had an early chance after the break when Ronald Nimyel broke into the right side of the penalty area and when he shot across the face of goal the ball just evaded Flynn O’Brien arriving at the back post. Newcastle replied with an attack of their own into the right side of the penalty area with the shot being deflected just wide of Rydnn Maguire’s left hand post. Keeper and defender then prevented Newcastle doubling their lead, the attack came into the left side of the penalty area, Rydnn Maguire dived to his left to parry the shot and a brilliant Duncan Barlow challenge prevented a certain goal at the far post. With the final whistle imminent Alex Smith released the Trialist into the right side of the box where he shot across the keeper into the far corner. Injuries to Olly Goodbrand and Cormack Christie forced Rangers into two second half substitutions. Full-Time:- Rangers 1 Newcastle United 1 RangersFirst Half:- Greig Thackray; Arran Kerr, Evan Molloy, Leo Fisher, Thomas Forrester; Callum Fernie: Lyle Wark, Alex Smith; Brandon Ramage, Trialist, Jose Calela. Rangers Second Half:- Rydnn Maguire; Jack Caldwell, Olly Hynd, Duncan Barlow, Olly Goodbrand (Arran Kerr); Aidan McCallion; Harry Weir, Alex Smith; Ronald Nimyel, Cormack Christie (Trialist), Flynn O’Brien.

Missing both Belgium U21 games due to “small injury”.

I believe this was organised by the UB. Is the demand to get rid of Wilson and Robertson only? There’s no criticism of the main board involved, other than employing these two?

No idea how accurate this organisation is. https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/rangers-fc-news/joel-piroe-swansea-city-latest-transfer-rumours-updates/ RANGERS NEWS Rangers send scouts to watch Joel Piroe ByChloe Chadwick Posted on 15 March 2023, 19:15 Glasgow Rangers have sent scouts to watch Joel Piroe ahead of a potential move to the Scottish Premiership, according to reports. THE LOWDOWN: ALONGSIDE WHITTAKER? The Light Blues are believed to still be in contact with Swansea City regarding a summer deal for Morgan Whittaker having failed to land him in January and it appears that he isn’t the only player Michael Beale is targeting. The Dutchman has now entered the final 18 months of his contract in Wales, and being Russell Martin’s top-performing offensive player, has caught the eye of the hierarchy at Ibrox. The Championship outfit are having the kind of season where they aren’t in any real danger but neither are they going to achieve anything so the striker could be tempted to look elsewhere should he want to progress his career further. - According to Football League World, Rangers (and by extension sporting director Ross Wilson) have been ‘scouting’ Piroe in ‘recent weeks’ and would offer a ‘different type of opportunity’ should he decide to make the move north of the border. Burnley, Middlesbrough and Norwich City are also ‘keeping tabs’ on the 23-year-old, whilst Crystal Palace and Everton both ‘explored’ a deal in January, though nothing ever came to fruition. Sources believe that Swansea are ‘at risk’ of losing their standout performer as a result of failing to properly get themselves going under Martin, so this could be one to watch in the months ahead. Piroe has been dubbed a ‘danger man’ by journalist Josh Bunting and Rangers need to act fast should they want to secure his services ahead of their fellow competitors. The Wijchen native has clocked up 13 goals and provided one assist in 34Championship appearances so far this season where he’s currently averaging 3.2 shots per 90 minutes. The 6 foot 1 star also ranks in the 95th percentile for pass completion, showing his excellent ability to link up well with his teammates, and the 91st percentile for most progressive passes (FBRef). Despite naturally being a centre-forward, the left-footed ace has played in fivedifferent positions since the start of his career and is comfortable operating anywhere across the frontline. The Teddy Bears have to head into the summer window on a mission to recruit players that will be able to have a significant impact on the side and get them competing with Celtic again and Piroe is certainly the perfect candidate to come in and do just the job.
