The Summer 2023 Rangers Transfer Window Rumours and Deals - Thread
BEARGER replied to der Berliner's topic in Rangers Chat
From Daily Record. Rangers are hoping to tap into the Saudi oil money well as former boss Steven Gerrard prepared a £2m offer for winger Scott Wright. Record Sport understands newly appointed El-Attifaq manager Gerrard has placed Wright’s name on a list of targets after agreeing to make the switch to the Middle East earlier this week on the same day as Celtic winger Jota. And the player’s advisers have already been contacted by representatives of the Pro League outfit - as well as at least one rival Saudi club - who are looking to thrash out a deal before the end of this week. Gerrard signed Wright as a free agent from Aberdeen during his time in charge of the Ibrox club and, despite keeping him on the fringes of his first team at that time, he is now ready to splash some cash to make the 25-year-old one of his first new recruits. Wright is deemed surplus to requirements by current Rangers boss Michael Beale who is in the middle of overseeing a major summer rebuild of the squad he inherited from Giovanni van Bronckhorst. Beale is expected to confirm on Wednesday that Nigerian international Cyriel Dessers will become his sixth signing of the summer. Any cash he raises from sales will be ploughed back into his existing pot. Rangers top brass have also been alerted to reports that Gerrard could be plotting a move for skipper James Tavernier. But Record Sport understands that neither the club nor Tavernier’s agents have received any contact to discuss a possible switch. -

Ronald De Boer has his say. The 53-year-old said: “The strange thing is, they are definitely very different types of strikers. For me, Dessers might be a little more suitable for Scottish football because he’s more physical as a No.9. But it depends on what kind of team and what kind of philosophy you have. If you want to play more like total football then Danilo is a perfect player for that. “Danilo is more about movement and pressing high. Of course, he will stand his ground but he’s totally different than Dessers’ type. Dessers will use his body more. If that’s what you want then he is probably the better option. But you have to look at what does the manager really want for the style he wants to play? That is something crucial. If you want a guy who waits for the moment, doesn’t get involved that much in the build up and gets in the box then it’s Dessers. But if you want to play high pressing football and you want to link up then Danilo is the perfect guy. But, first, you have to make up your mind.” It seems highly unlikely Beale will be able to afford both given that Cremonese are demanding around £6.5million for their man and Feyenoord will accept nothing under £5m for theirs. De Boer believes, if Beale is looking for a like-for-like replacement of Morelos, then Dessers fits the bill. But his blessing comes with a caveat. He went on: “Dessers is a very opportunistic player. If he’s not in form, or when the confidence is not there, he’s a very limited player. Then you think, ‘Who the hell did we sign here!’. "But when the guy has confidence then you think, ‘Woah! Where is this coming from?’. Because when he’s playing at his best he does everything on instinct. He waits for his prey and then he attacks. “But, for me, he’s a player who, when he’s feeling comfortable and the manager believes in him, he can add a lot of value. But it all depends on if he’s feeling good. If he feels good he’ll give Rangers a lot of pleasure. But it can also go the other way. If you want a type like Morelos then there is no doubt, you go for Dessers. What you would get from Dessers is a much better work ethic than Morelos gave the team over the last year. “Morelos did also great things but, in the last 12 months, he didn’t really look fit. Of course, he had an injury but his mentality was not spot on. With Dessers you would get a guy who wants to show himself and, if I see him on television, he’s also a nice person and a good character. A totally different character than Morelos.” Danilo, though, would be De Boer’s choice when it comes to a more rounded attacker. He said: “If you press high he’s amazing at that and he’s a very decent football player. Also, in the box, he can head the ball even though he’s not big. If he gets the chance to play every week he will only get better. “Let’s put it this way, if you’re talking about marking players from zero to 10, Dessers can be a nine. But he can also play like a two. With Danilo, he will never go lower than a six. He can also play a nine but he would never go below a six. With Dessers that can happen.” And De Boer believes he choice may rest not just on price but on which of the two Beale believes will link up best with another new arrival, Dutchman Sam Lammers. He said: “Sam is also a technical player but where is he going to play? Is he going to play as a number ten? Or will he play with two strikers? If he wants to play with two strikers then Danilo is the perfect guy to play with Sam. But, if Dessers if feeling fine he is an amazing target man. “Sam was one of the biggest talents at PSV Eindhoven and he has a lot of quality. But can he do it? He has the potential but I wouldn’t put money on it. With him I still have a bit of doubt. Danilo? My brother worked with him at Ajax and he liked him also. He’ll only get better in my eyes. He has a great work ethic and he scores some great goals. Dessers score goals also but he’s more of an opportunistic player. He can be crazy for you in a positive way but it’s like a coin on its side with him, it could go either way!” But De Boer has a gut feeling Beale will work it all out for himself. He said: “From what I heard, he’s been very impressive. He deserves a good start and maybe, when his team has an injection of quality, he can do even better and really challenge Celtic. That would be a dream but, so far, he has done a marvellous job.” -
Hopefully a case we will win, and Doncaster to go?

ClaretandHugh understand that Karim won’t be replaced and West Ham’s commercial director Nathan Thompson will take on partnership management as part of his remit at the club. -

Rangers handed Cyriel Dessers deal lifeline after ‘several six-figure bids’ in latest striker transfer twist David Oliver Published: 23:15, 21 Jun 2023 Updated: 23:16, 21 Jun 2023 RANGERS transfer roller-coaster took a dip when Cyriel Dessers 'rejected' a move to Scotland yesterday. But the chase for the Nigerian frontman is not over, according to a report. Dessers DOES want to talk to Michael Beale, a new report claimsCredit: Getty The striker had reportedly rejected RangersCredit: Getty Infact the 28-year-old is reportedly 'keen' on a move to Ibrox this summerand awaiting further club contact. However the two sides do appear to be far apart in their valuations and the Gers have been unable to strike a deal with Cremonese for their second Serie A target so far. But after recruiting Dutch link-up man Sam Lammers from AtalantaMichael Beale has been hoping to find him a new strike partner to bolster his attacking options. Reports on Tuesday suggested Dessers had declined a move to the Gers and the deal was dead. However alternative reports in Italy have since surfaced and say he is awaiting more talks. The Daily Record claims Dessers remains keen and is waiting on Rangers' follow-up offer with sources close to the deal saying he wants to play in the Champions League. But they say Rangers have submitted several 'six-figure' offers to the relegated Lombardy side who paid £6.5m for the striker from Genk and are holding out to recoup as much of the cash as they can. He hit seven goals in 29 times as his side slumped to Serie B last season, but was prolific the year prior at Feyenoord - particularly in Europe. Dessers has been identified as a long-term target of Michael Beale's and was expected to be his fifth recruit following Kieran Dowall, Jack Butland, Dujon Sterling and Lammers. The Gers have already seen five first team players depart in AllanMcgregor, Filip Helander, Scott Arfield, Ryan Kent and Alfredo Morelos. So far only Arfield and Kent have secured deals elsewhere, at FC Charlotteand Fenerbahce respectively. Antonio Colak remains at the club and is determined to be fighting fit when he returns for pre-season. He's been spotted on honeymoon and on holiday working out - even donning the club's training gear for workouts in the sun as he readies himself to hit the ground running when the squad sessions resume nextmonth. -
https://fourladshadadream.blog/2023/06/21/rangers-fans-forum-qa-explained/ Rangers fans forum Q&A explained Stevenclifford football, Football, Rangers, Sport June 21, 2023 6 Minutes Brief notes from Rangers first ever Fans forum held at New Edmiston house. In attendance for Rangers: James Bisgrove, CEO Greg Marshall, Fan Engagement & SLO David Milburn, Customer Service Manager Natalie Nairn, Head of Retail & Events Robert Boyle, Head of Digital & Content John MacFarlane, Facilities Manager John Speirs, Disability Access Officer Josh Hollywood Head of Corporate Nick Thomson, Head of Communications Introduction from each Key points from intro’s Sports bar to open in January, plans well underway. Museum Gift store to open next month. Fan engagement strategy, first in Scotland to create such a strategy. Desire to create a close bond with the support. Ibrox stadium to be the most accessible across the UK for disabled supports. Pre submitted Questions (Brief notes – Key points) James Bisgrove – Stadium expansion– ST renewal rate 99%, 10,000 on waiting list. From board meetings, real appetite to expand capacity of Ibrox. 3 year disabled plan will expand capacity by 600 overall. Mid to long term, the corners where screens are, potentially 3000/4000 additional seats each corner, cost £20-25m in total. Potential to partially fill 1300 seats each corner cost of £8m. Being massively explored. Lowering the pitch, 4500 seats, £15-20m major investment. Robert Boyle – Trophy Room/ Museum – Major job as we have so much memorabilia, various visits to major museums to make sure we get this right. Been a five year project. Museum split into nine zones each telling a different theme of our history. Includes temporary exhibition space which can be used if there is something to celebrate. Some items from trophy room will move. No major changes to trophy room, some items will move however. John McFarlane – Stadium facilities upgrade – Pitch investment, LED lights upgrade both Ibrox and training ground. Under soil heating upgrade at Ibrox pitch. Lift upgrades, one more to do then all upgrading. Press room upgrade. Main Stand heating upgrade, major boiler works throughout stadium. Significant improvements throughout stadium. James Bisgrove on above – Basic facility upgrade is key, like the toilets and in and around the stadium. Like the tarmac footprint outside. So much we want to do, not only about showy projects but also basics. David Milburn Supporters move – Looking at ways of improving atmosphere, singing section is being looked at and various positions will be tried throughout the stadium. Desire, for greater good, to maximise stadium atmosphere. Will work with supporters who have been moved. Greg Marshall on that – Atmosphere improvement for greater good, fan surveys have pointed to fans all wanting a better atmosphere within the stadium. Will work with any fans being moved, with Disabled work and fan singing section. Josh Hollywood catering update – Levy with us eleven months, club keep 74% of all profit across the club. Demand for restaurant huge, generating 80k profit a month. Levy huge on new sports bar, will be first in Glasgow to have self pour beer. Levy made huge investment in the club, restaurant rebuild. Working with Levy on vending machine ideas to reduce waiting times during games. Very excited about self order booths in Copland rear, can pre order food and pay then collect. Hopefully helps waiting time and fan experience. Floor open to questions – Complaints about Rangers platform for items. No app for example. – Robert Boyle – Agrees, so many different partners, so many different way of working. Have listened with ticketing website and will fix that. Trying to redefine fifteen years of business practice but understand the point and working hard to fix it, for likes of single sign on throughout on line (Shop, ticketing etc). Plans for the app supported by the board, plans for the next twelve to twenty four months. – A lot said about match day experience, let ourselves down with treatment of travelling supporters. Everything difficult where we go, Easter Road dangerous overcrowding and cattle like treatment. Greg Marshall – Start with Hibs, extremely difficult last season’s midweek game. It is known and some changes were made which helped for last fixture, will continue to work with them to improve things. Aberdeen issues at last game, really poor day organisational wise, have challenged Aberdeen but positive dialogue has happened. Constantly engaging with other clubs across country to improve our treatment. – How are we going to be more creative in revenue income plans? James Bisgrove – So important we maximise income, four pillars are vital and revenue has grown to £85m last year which is record levels. Very close with Uefa for making decisions which is to benefit our maximising our revenue. – Disabled parking spaces, can’t get one. John Spiers – We have 100 spaces in Albion but stadium footprint is under complete review from the club. We are tied to allocation from away games/Hampden. We have 160 tickets for Hampden but only 43 allocated parking spaces so outwith our control, we have fed back to them on this. We have doubled the recommended spaces at Ibrox. – Corporate travel to Europe, do we have a travel partner? James Bisgrove – CTM service and delivery completely unacceptable and non delivery for that is the reason. Destination Sport is our new partner and we will communicate on that very early. Greg Marshall – Understand pricing issues, Ajax situation was horrendous and apologies on that from the club. We will be pushing early decisions and confident we will get that early information to supporters. – On the app, is digital ticketing a possibility? Robert Boyle – Yes! Short answer is exactly what we are looking at, looking at best solution for the support. – Safe standing update? James Bisgrove – Trialing singing section areas to get idea of best possible place. We see across Europe benefit to the atmosphere, I know and believe it can improve Ibrox. It has been discussed at Board meeting, the next six to twelve months should tell us more. Stadium architects are working on plans. – Liepzig exemplary disabled access, are the board watching on that? Is there a way with away tickets Rangers could recognise mobility issues within the support? John Spiers – Accessibility is a great point, it is an issue we are seriously looking at also. Looking to develop 250 amenable seats straight from the lift at Ibrox. – Update on commission of Walter Smith statue? Robert Boyle – Well underway, working very closely with Smith family to ensure everything is correct. Well under way and proud of what has been done so far. – CF3 haven’t been updated or properly advised on potential moves. Greg Marshall – You will be front of the list, ideally the new spaces created by adding to front of Broomloan and Copland. James Bisgrove – Celtic allocation is not agreed yet, likely smaller allocation this season. Unlikely Celtic will ever get Broomloan back (Claps from fans), a long way to go on any changes. – Commerical strategy, impact to fans with MyGers, feels like a tax. How to we not alienate fans? James Bisgrove – Fine balance, don’t take support for granted. We got Champions League package wrong and we appreciate that. We want to get balance right. Natalie Nairn – On MyGers income, direct into the first team, ambition to reach 60k members this year. No perfect solution but context is 15000 applications for Aberdeen but we get less than 1000 tickets. Ticketing isn’t perfect but impossible situation. – Brand protection, what are we doing to protect our club reputation? James Bisgrove – Very fair question, have taken learnings from commercial deals that have went wrong. Paramount is protecting the brand. Financially NFT was great but ultimately we got it wrong, I understand that and don’t get everything right. – Commercial revenues have increased, is there in strategy for multi national sponsors for our brand but no big company attached? James Bisgrove – We should aspire to global blue chip brands, Seko, Cadburys, EA Sports are that but we constantly meet brands and travel the world to try and do that. Return on European stage, run to Seville has helped, new partners are coming on board. – Passion for 66 fans we lost in Ibrox disaster. Possible for memorial where it happened? John Spiers – We are working closely to develop the foot print and plans in place as part of that design. It’s a wee bit away but hugely important to us all. James Bisgrove – We are committed to that. Something staff and board are committed too. – Hospitality question, Will we be priced out in years to come? James Bisgrove – 5% increase but below inflation. What we want to do is make sure is there is something for everyone, don’t have immediate plans to increase beyond what we have done. – Major staff reshuffle, what stages are we at too make appointments? James Bisgrove – Right at start of Sporting director appointment. Close to announcing a new Director of academy and Finance director, as well as Women’s manager. Top calibre individuals and will be available to announce next 4-5 weeks. Commercial partnership growth question. James Bisgrove – Increase to partnerships is happening, especially with Hamburg. We are working hard with them. Rangers correction from this evening from club - To fill the complete corners of Ibrox (3000/4000 each corner) take away screens etc is a total cost of £20/£25m To partially refill and add 1300 each corner is £3-4m each corner. This is a mistake/mix up from tonight, apologies sent from club Blog tonight will change to reflect actual costs from update
