Aberdeen FC to slash away allocations leaving Celtic and Rangers fans to land as few as 300 tickets Dons chief Alan Burrows insists Pittodrie should be packed with home supporters with away allocations to be downsized. SPORT By Scott Burns 16:07, 24 JUL 2023 UPDATED16:35, 24 JUL 2023 Resurgent Aberdeen are to make changes to Pittodrie that could dramatically slash away attendances. The Dons, who are guaranteed European group stage football, have seen a record in season ticket sales and are looking at ways of growing their home attendances further. The club have announced plans to remove the current fixed division in the South Stand that would allow them to reduce away capacities and increase their home support by up to 1,000 seats. It could see visiting attendances cut from around 1700 to anything as low as 300. It has come as the Red Army have been left frustrated by a lack of away numbers at certain grounds, like at Hearts and Rangers, in recent seasons.Aberdeen chief executive Alan Burrows said: “There has been a huge amount of excellent work undertaken by AFC staff over the last few years on engaging with supporters and making match days at Pittodrie more noisy and more colourful and improving the atmosphere.“We will continue to engage with all stakeholders to try and build on that, whilst maintaining a safe and secure environment for everyone. Our plans for the South Stand are very much an extension of that desire. We want even more Aberdeen fans coming to Pittodrie in the best seats, cheering the team on. The fence has not only proved a visible hindrance for fans in that area, but it has also not allowed us any flexibility to try and maximise attendances.“This work will also have the added benefit of increasing the catering provisions in the South Stand by 25%, which we hope will further reduce queues and waiting times in that area for specific games.”Aberdeen’s stance on away tickets is likely to be set for what their support gets in return at away grounds. An Aberdeen statement added: “Whilst we hope the changes above will help continue the upwards trajectory of our home attendances and drive-up revenues, it is also our intention to hold discussions with some of our SPFL Premiership colleagues about reciprocal allocations in hope of a fair and equitable number for our brilliant away supporters. The outcome of that will play one part in the away allocations we set at Pittodrie going forward.”Aberdeen have now got around 12,000 season ticket holders and have announced that another 200 places will also be made available for the Red Shed from this upcoming season. It will see the attendance of the Merkland Stand increased to 2095.

https://www.telegraaf.nl/sport/911404219/danilo-rekent-op-vertrek-naar-rangers-bijna-7-miljoen Danilo counts on leaving for Rangers: almost 7 million MARCEL VAN DER KRAAN ROTTERDAM - Danilo can earn 45,000 euros a week at the Scottish Rangers, which is more than double his current salary at Feyenoord. That explains why the 24-year-old striker is eager to move to the Scottish top club. And that departure will almost certainly come this Rangers made a 'take it or leave it' offer on Sunday afternoon, which goes towards seven million euros. It is the last attempt by the Scots to incorporate Danilo and it could well succeed, because Feyenoord has interesting players in other positions and also thinks it can fill the striker position behind Santiago Gimenez. Feyenoord will put their heads together on Monday, when everyone is back at the training complex, to discuss Rangers' offer. But it is clear that Danilo has also set his sights on a departure and is also counting on Feyenoord to let him go now. Outside base eleven Last Saturday, he was not included in the starting eleven by trainer Arne Slot against the German Hoffenheim, while Gimenez is still on holiday and was not part of the selection in Austria. The transfer troubles surrounding Danilo led to the young Newcastle United mercenary Yankuba Minteh starting at the forefront, alongside Javairo Dilrosun and Paixao. Rangers must buy out Danilo's contract, which runs until 2026. Feyenoord is linked to attackers Sydney van Hooijdonk and Japanese striker Ayase Ueda from Cercle Brugge. But it also still has serious plans with Dinamo Zagreb's Croatia international Luka Ivanusec, who was reviewed against Hajduk Split on Friday night and looks like an actual reinforcement. -

https://www.fr12.nl/nieuws/sydney-van-hooijdonk-genoemd-als-opvolger-van-danilo?twit=106 Sydney van Hooijdonk is in the interest of Feyenoord, reports 1908.nl. The striker must succeed Danilo when the Brazilian actually leaves De Kuip. The technical staff is convinced that Pierre van Hooijdonk's son can be of added value to the stadium club. Feyenoord seems to be taking Danilo's departure seriously into account. The Rotterdammers were previously associated with the Japanese Ayase Ueda and now Van Hooijdonk's name is emphatically used in the Maas building. The stadium club has not yet reported concretely to Bologna FC at this stage. When Rangers FC approaches Feyenoord's asking price and a final departure beckons, things can go quickly. Van Hooijdonk has recently been told that he may leave Bologna FC. Trainer Thiago Motta has indicated that the 23-year-old striker is not included in the plans and can look forward to a new employer -

Danilo to Rangers transfer on verge of collapse as Feyenoord irked by 'low ball' offers but Ibrox dealmakers get tough The Brazilian is wanted by Michael Beale but the bumper valuation from the Dutch champions could end the pursuit. ROTTERDAM, NETHERLANDS - MARCH 04: Danilo of Feyenoord Rotterdam Looks on during the Dutch Eredivisie match between Feyenoord and FC Groningen at Feyenoord Stadium on March 4, 2023 in Rotterdam, Netherlands. (Photo by NESimages/Herman Dingler/DeFodi Images via Getty Images) Michael Beale's big money move for Brazilian striker Danilo was in danger of collapsing last night after Feyenoord booted out the latest Ibrox bid. Record Sport can reveal the Rotterdam club have rejected out of hand an improved offer worth around £5.2m with potential add ons for the 24-year-old and have become irritated with what they consider to be a series of ‘low ball’ approaches. On the contrary, Rangers believe they are more the matching the player’s market price and with relationships between the two clubs turning cold, may now turn their attention elsewhere unless the Dutch outfit lower their asking price. It’s believed Feyenoord have not dropped their original demands and will not budge unless they receive a bid north of £6m. The Eredivisie champions have been accused by their own supporters of allowing too many players to leave on the cheap and are determined to hold out for top dollar for Danilo even though he is considered by boss Arne Slot as the club’s second choice No.9. Slot is also refusing to budge until he has secured adequate cover for his star striker Santiago Giminez, who is suspended for the first two group games of this season’s Champions League. That has left Rangers considering a string of alternative attacking targets and club sources are confident they have ‘strong options elsewhere’ as well as almost six weeks left in the summer transfer window to get one of them in the door. Beale revealed yesterday that Rangers have now secured midfielder Jose Cifeuntes on a pre-contract, with the Ibrox club pushing to force through a deal now. And he confirmed talks are ongoing with Feyenoord while hinting that the discussions are not moving anywhere fast. He said: “There’s talks in the background but he’s a Feyenoord player just now and they are also building after a really successful season last year. We’ll keep that between the two clubs at the moment. He’s obviously a good player.” Midfielder Cifuentes, 24, has just six months left on his contract with Los Angeles FC and will become a Rangers player on a free transfer when the MLS season finishes at the end of the year. But Beale said: “It is getting closer. Logistics of that one and work permits and everything that goes in between it.. The clubs are still talking. Get your ultimate Rangers guide to the 2023-24 season under Michael Beale Rangers are ready for glory as they take aim at Scottish football’s biggest prizes. Michael Beale and his new-look Light Blues have their heart set on winning back the title and a shot at glory in the Champions League. Beale’s boys will be rubbing shoulders with the best in Europe and chasing the dream in Scotland as they try to win domestic honours. “He is out of contract at the end of the year and we have an agreement for that. We would like to bring it to a close early if we can so he can join us in this window. Those discussions are ongoing.” Rangers host Hamburg in a friendly this afternoon after losing 2-1 to Newcastle in Allan McGregor’s testimonial on Tuesday. And Beale confirmed recruitment would continue for the next six weeks in both directions. Speaking to Sky Sports he said: “The recruitment both ways - in and out - isn’t finished right now so the squad will come together. As a squad we spoke about wanting to be tighter. There’s a lot of competition for places. With that, one or two players naturally will want some guarantees to play regularly, so there will be some change. “We’ve recruited swiftly over the summer, we’ve got some new faces in and the squad is shaping up really well. We’re really pleased with how the summer work has gone. “The boys that were here before will gel it all together but we had a fantastic week in Germany which was really good for the players. There’s a nice energy and feel around the place at the moment. “The mentality is always there to start the season well. We know the first month of the season brings four league games and hopefully four Champions League qualifiers as well and a cup game so by the time we go into that September international break we want to be in a good place with all the new players up to speed.” -

In his emotional announcement, he fought backs tears as he said: "I’m going to miss you guys, the guys behind the scenes, our makeup girl, I’ll miss you all. Danilo opens up amid looking Rangers transfer in all access documentary with his Feyenoord 'brother for life' The Brazilian duo have forged a friendship to last a lifetime in Rotterdam and the pair are on the verge of saying goodbye. dailyrecord Beaming Danilo has opened up on his unbreakable bond with Feyenoord pal Igor Paixao as he gears up for a move to Rangers. The Brazilian duo have forged a friendship to last a lifetime in Rotterdam and the pair are on the verge of saying goodbye to one another if Michael Beale gets his man, as the Dutch champions seek a fee in excess of £5.5million for a the star. Danilo was a key contributor with 10 Eredivisie goals last season and his bromance with Paixao is set to be the subject of a documentary which will air in the Netherlands on Saturday evening. The 24-year-old craves a switch to Ibrox but has made it clear it is likely to be a bind for life as he gets ready to say goodbye to his closest confidant. Speaking in the ESPN special, he said: "We talk everyday, he comes to my place or I go to his and we always eat together. So, just to still catch up on other things rather than football. BREAKING Rangers win SPFL apology and compensation as cinch row resolved 27 mins ago By Graeme McGarry@Graeme_McGarrySenior Sports Writer SPFL chief executive Neil Doncaster will now face questions over his handling of the cinch sponsorship deal. (Image: SNS) THE long-running dispute between the SPFL, Rangers and Park’s Motor Group over the league’s title sponsorship has finally been resolved, as the governing body were forced into issuing an apology and agreeing to pay compensation to the Ibrox club, as well as sanctioning an independent inquiry into the governance of the SPFL. The so-called ‘cinch dispute’ has rumbled on acrimoniously between the parties for over two years now, ultimately costing the league hundreds of thousands of pounds in legal fees, after Rangers successfully argued an existing contract agreement with Park’s prevented them from providing advertising inventory to a competitor in the motor vehicle industry. Recommended by Herald Sport exclusively revealed last month that Rangers had been granted permission by the SFA to take the SPFL to court over the dispute. But after the apology, the promise of an inquiry and a six-figure settlement was agreed between the SPFL and Rangers – which the Ibrox club will split three ways between the Rangers Charity Foundation, a charity of Park’s choosing and the SPFL Charitable Trust – Herald Sport understands that all parties consider the matter closed. The statement read: The Scottish Professional Football League, Rangers, and Park’s of Hamilton have confirmed that the long-running dispute between them in relation to the SPFL’s title sponsorship contract with cinch has been brought to an end. The SPFL has accepted that Rangers had a pre-existing contract with Park’s at the point that the SPFL entered into its title sponsorship contract with cinch in June 2021. All three parties have now agreed to withdraw the resulting Scottish FA arbitration, with the SPFL making a contribution to the costs of Rangers and Park’s. These sums will be donated to charity. The SPFL regrets any damage to the reputation of Rangers and Park’s as a result of the dispute. SPFL Chairman, Murdoch MacLennan, said: “We are delighted to have finally drawn a line under this dispute following discussions between ourselves and Rangers, and we are keen to do all we can to learn from this protracted disagreement. “I am particularly grateful for the constructive approach shown by all parties in helping resolve this long-running situation and am very happy to apologise if there has been any damage to the reputation of Rangers FC or Park’s of Hamilton. “Going forward, we have also agreed to commission an independent review of governance to help ensure the SPFL can avoid any such dispute in the future. This review will commence in October 2023. “I am pleased we have put this matter to bed at last and am now looking forward to working constructively with Rangers and our 41 other clubs at what is a hugely exciting time for Scottish football as a whole.” A spokesperson for Rangers commented: “Rangers acknowledges the apology from the SPFL and is pleased that this long running dispute has been brought to a conclusion. In welcoming the independent review of SPFL governance, the Club wishes to give thanks for the efforts and patience of those who have driven this to a satisfactory outcome.” Questions will now however be asked of SPFL chief executive Neil Doncaster and the way that the agreement with cinch was pushed through in the first place, with Rangers informing Doncaster ahead of the conclusion of the deal that they would not be able to comply with the terms of the contract. Having forced the deal through, the admission from Doncaster that he was wrong to do so will be a humiliating one for the 54-year-old, who had cast doubt about Rangers’ claims of a pre-existing agreement with Park’s before ultimately being forced to climb down. Doncaster himself stopped short of apologising to Rangers, expressing only his regret at any damage to their reputation, while it was SPFL chairman Murdoch McLennan who offered a full apology. The victory will however be seen as a vindication of outgoing managing director Stewart Robertson’s position, who long maintained that Rangers were bound by the terms of their agreement with Park’s, and who has publicly expressed his concern around the corporate governance of the SPFL.

Rangers' Edmiston House hosts Indie Beer Scotland festival By Brian Donnelly@BrianDonnellyHTBusiness Correspondent New Rangers venue to host craft beer festival's first Glasgow event (Image: Indie Beer Scotland) A new craft beer festival is to be held in Glasgow. The Indie Beer Scotland festival is aiming to be twice the size of the inaugural event in the Scottish capital last year. Organisers said that after a "hugely successful" launch in Edinburgh in 2022 Indie Beer Scotland is to be held at the new Clyde Rooms at Edmiston House event space in Glasgow. It is claimed Indie Beer Scotland is now the country’s largest craft beer festival, featuring over two hundred different cask and craft keg beers from some of Scotland’s best independent craft breweries – double last year – and cider and spirits from independent Scottish producers. |Indie Beer Scotland is organised by Scottish brewers from the not-for-profit trade association the Society of Independent Brewers. Indie Beer Scotland runs from Friday September 8 until Saturday September 9. (Image: Indie Beer Scotland) Festival organiser Fiona MacEachern, from Loch Lomond Brewery, said the new venue is “set to take the event to the next level”. She said: “We’re really excited to be working with Edmiston House to present Scotland’s only National beer festival, featuring exclusively Scottish independent craft breweries, cider producers, and artisan spirits, again from independent producers only. “The Clyde Rooms at Edmiston House is a superb modern event space with ground floor access, just a short walk from the tube and with great connections and transport links.” Indie Beer Scotland also aims to offer value for money, with a huge number of session beers including cask and craft keg frozen at last year’s prices. “Beer should be enjoyed by everybody, which is why we work really hard to ensure we offer great value for money as well as the best possible range of beers in huge variety of styles and strengths – from hoppy IPAs and Pale Ales, to craft lagers, pilsners and stouts. "No matter what styles of beer you enjoy we really have got something for everyone, and all cask and keg beers up to 4.5% are available for just £4 a pint or £2 a half,” Ms MacEachran said. Indie Beer Scotland is also the home of the SIBA Scotland Independent Beer Awards 2023, with judging taking place to name Scotland’s very best beers prior to the festival opening to the public, making festival-goers the first to try Scotland’s official best beers, with all this year’s winning beers available over the three sessions Friday to Saturday. Beers range from session strength lagers and pale ales of 4%, to barrel-aged imperial stouts and scotch ales which tip the scales at a punchy 10% abv or more. Ms MacEachern said: “With both our cask and keg competition taking place at Indie Beer Scotland for the first time there really is going to be something for everybody, from traditional cask beers in a wide variety of styles, to modern IPAs and small-batch lagers from independent producers. "Whether you’re a casual beer drinker or certified beer expert there’ll be something interesting for you to enjoy.”

Record Sport understands the Jambos are slashing the number of travelling fans inside their Gorgie ground due to bumper season ticket sales and the demand from walk up punters for home tickets. It means 10 of the 11 clubs visiting the capital next season will be given just one section of the Roseburn stand for Premiership fixtures. A gentleman’s agreement with the Hibees means Hearts’ neighbours will be exempt from the new policy regarding away briefs. They will continue to get all 3,600 seats behind the goals, which ensures Hearts in return will still receive the entire South Stand at Easter Road when they travel across town on derby day. But the remaining top flight fan bases face a ticket scramble when taking on Steven Naismith’s side this season, Celtic and Rangers in particular
