Many a true word is spoken in jest.

Nothing, absolutely nothing. But he has been mentioned in New Manager Rumours thread, better if it was in there or in general football forum.

David Bates: Rangers boss Graeme Murty admits club were priced out of deal for defender David Bates has signed a four-year contract with German outfit Hamburg Rangers could not compete with Hamburg's contract offer to departing defender David Bates, according to Ibrox manager Graeme Murty. The 21-year-old will move to Germany this summer on a four-year deal after failing to agree a contract at Ibrox. "We were in negotiations with David and wanted him to stay - but Hamburg have come along and made an offer we can't match," Murty said. "David has thought about his career and decided to take them up on that offer." Gers defender Bates to join Hamburg And the manager added: "That is the reality of the situation. We're disappointed as we've obviously invested time and energy in David. We've played him, helped his development but he has decided to go elsewhere. "That's his prerogative and we can't at this moment stand in his way. We wish him well." Bates has made 17 appearances this season, but has not featured since injuring an ankle in the Old Firm derby defeat by Celtic in March. He will move to Hamburg on a free transfer, with the club currently 17th in the Bundesliga - five points behind Mainz 05, who occupy the relegation play-off spot, with five games remaining. Bates started his career with Raith Rovers and moved to Ibrox, initially on loan, in August 2016. Murty, meanwhile, confirmed Josh Windass has resumed training before Sunday's Scottish Cup semi-final with Celtic, having limped off during the draw with Motherwell on 31 March.

https://www.thescottishsun.co.uk/sport/football/2494599/rangers-union-bears-banner-ban-celtic/amp/?__twitter_impression=true fans group Union Bears hit out after banner ban ahead of Sunday’s clash with Celtic The group were planning a large display for the Scottish Cup semi-final at Hampden but have now urged supporters to take banners and flags instead By David Fowler 12th April 2018, 6:11 pm RANGERS fans group Union Bears have accused Hampden chiefs of stopping them unveiling a display before Sunday’s Scottish Cup semi-final against Celtic. The Gers ‘ultras’ hit out at the decision on their Facebook page and urged Light Blues supporters to take flags and banners to the match. KENNY RAMSAY - THE SUN GLASGOW The Union Bears’ section at Ibrox But the SFA have now made it clear why the decision was made. A Scottish FA spokesman said: “At a preliminary operations meeting for the William Hill Scottish Cup semi-finals, it was mutually agreed by all parties that logistically it would not have been feasible to allow supporters to set up a display for Sunday’s match so soon after the conclusion of Saturday’s semi-final. “When we were alerted to the request from a Rangers supporters’ group just this week, the matter was again discussed with all parties, who again were in consensus that the original decision was the sensible one given the practicalities involved. “The Scottish FA is always keen to engage with supporters to ensure our showpiece matches at the national stadium have the best possible atmosphere and we look forward to what promises to be an enjoyable weekend of football.” TWITTER The Union Bears post read: “Ahead of Sunday’s semi-final, the Union Bears had been planning a large display that we had hoped would spur the team onto victory. “After weeks of preparation and thousands of pounds spent, the head of security at Hampden Park has decided that he won’t be allowing us to have a display and has yet to provide a valid reason why he has come to this decision. “In an effort to get behind the team and bring as much colour as possible to the Rangers end, the group would like to ask all supporters and RSCs to bring flags and banners to the game. “Despite the efforts of Hampden security, we are positive the full Rangers support can get together and turn Hampden into a sea of red, white and blue as the teams emerge from the tunnel. “Union Bears – no surrender.”

Recent rumours of approach or contact with Frank de Boer have been confirmed as false. Our understanding is there is no contact at this point and he is not on the boards immediate list for managers position

Jim White 21-year-old @RangersFC defender David Bates has signed a pre-contract deal with German club Hamburg. He’ll move there on a four-year deal this summer.

The exact circumstances around Warburton and Weir’s departure from Ibrox remain as clear as mud, and Weir himself is still digesting what exactly happened as he found himself cut adrift from the club after such a long association.“It does take time, and probably still you’re not really sure how it happened and what happened,” he said.“But that’s football, you can’t live your life full of regrets, you move on. That’s kind of how I see it. You’re not happy with the way it ended, and you want to get your side of the story out, but what is the point of that? You can’t change the past, you can’t change what’s happened and the circumstances, so why worry about it? What utter bollocks. He resigned if not why has he failed to take legal action for unfair dismissal ? Weir was a true professional on the park for everybody he played for, but just another phoney Rangers fan who took what he could from the club. Just like one of our previous managers.

UPDATE on Blair Meikle Article in The Sun Dear member, We wrote to you earlier today to advise that we had written to the Editor of the Scottish Sun, Alan Muir, seeking an explanation and retraction for a false story written by Blair Meikle which appeared online yesterday. We can now update that we received a prompt response from The Sun and the story has been removed. We will continue dialogue with them on how it appeared to begin with and any further remedial action. Aye Dornan likes to get involved no doubt. Was it a twitter comment? He’s doing well no friends at Ibrox and hated at Parkhead by the GB etc.

I have no idea what comments were made or who made them. Posted Club1872 statement for information to others, thought that was one of the purposes of a forum.

Club 1872 response to public comments made about the Rangers support by elected politicians in Scotland Dear Member Club 1872 has had contact with a number of members over the past few weeks, concerned about public comments made about the Rangers support by elected politicians in Scotland. We can confirm that we have written directly to a number of politicians seeking an explanation for false comments made by them on social media about the Rangers support. We have also written to two Scottish political party leaders seeking explanations for the behaviour of their elected representatives. In addition to this, members may be aware that the Scottish Government, in the aftermath of the repeal of the Offensive Behaviour at Football Act, has set up a working party to examine the subject of sectarianism and make recommendations on how it should be defined in Scots law. We are extremely concerned that this process should not be a repeat of the ill-fated consultation on the Offensive Behaviour at Football Act, during which a number of discredited politicians and journalists were successful in pushing for unworkable and illiberal laws targeting football supporters. With that in mind we have written to the chair of this group to ask about the makeup of the working party, the scope of their work and how organisations like Club 1872 can feed into the process. If positive progress is to be made then it is essential that a common sense approach is taken on this topic and that those who cannot contain their agenda-driven hysteria are kept at arms length from decision making. We have seen a circumstance in modern Scotland where Rangers and Rangers supporters are seen as fair game, regardless of the steps we take to try to ensure good behaviour. This is partly due to the actions of a small minority of our supporters but is largely down to an agenda in certain areas of the press and Scottish political life. We have spoken to Rangers about this and urged them to use their significant resources to take a more robust stance on tackling this issue. We will continue dialogue with them. We are also in discussions with Police Scotland regarding the treatment of Rangers supporters and are seeking changes in the way we have been policed in certain circumstances. This has so far been a healthy dialogue and we hope that it will lead to some substantive changes in approach. In the meantime Club 1872 will continue to do what it can, with very limited resources, to tackle any unfair or malicious comments about our loyal support. That is very true. The saying I heard from loads of old guys in my club was “ I don’t know how I had the time to go to work”, I’ve discovered it’s true.
