  1. I'm more than happy to have him in the dugout on the 2nd. Avoids the risk of having one of their coaches who might know something about running a football team giving out orders.
  2. Shite team lose shite player.
  3. This was quite clearly an Establishment decision, after taking into account the number of Rangers players sitting on suspensions. Anyone who disagrees is a bigot.
  4. From that league table it looks like Wattenaccio might be the way forward over in Lisbon.
  5. Two eminently winnable ties. PSV or Lille aren't as good as Sporting IMO. Of course, much depends on how good the new pipes in the Main Stand are.
  6. I've never quite bought the need for an "experienced" manager, it's no guarantee of success. Exhibit A would have to be Souness. And even without having managed anyone, McCoist has been assistant manager of both the national team and the biggest club in the country for 6 years. Lennon is inexperienced - McCoist is no mug.
  7. Really? A lot of people find the Twenties quite a tough period of their life. I don't know the statistics, but I'd wager that among adults, more people in their 20's take their own life than any other age bracket.
  8. I see where you're coming from, but I couldn't bring myself to want Rangers to be beaten in anything. Pretty poor reason for a postponement though, just when we need games played and out the way.
  9. And others think making a stand, for example singing TBB, is the only way to force a proper, grown-up debate about what is sectarian and what isn't, and have this settled once and for all. The likes of Spiers and McGillivan have used many things in their prolonged campaign of attack against the club and its supporters. Facts, sadly, haven't been one of them. I'm just trying to comment on what I honestly think is the current state of affairs. Do you think there isn't a concerted campaign to slander Rangers supporters going on? If there isn't, then hands up, I must be paraniod. But it certainly feels like there is to me and thousands of others.
  10. You can be absolutely certain the tournament would be taken ten times more seriously with England in it. When people start taking something seriously it becomes credible. My guess is that the majority of fans couldn't give a damn about this 'Celtic Cup' or whatever they've branded it.
  11. Yes but my standpoint on this thread is that "fenian" isn't a religious term, and therefore what exactly is the problem with using it to refer to Celtic fans? You may see it that way, but my point is about parity. As an East-coaster, I've no interest in the religion stuff myself, and fully agree with putting supporting Rangers ahead of anything else. But when I'm told not to say a certain non-religious, non-sectarian word - one that they still can't tell me properly why I can't use - because someone somewhere might be offended, while I have religious insults hurled at me, it does strike me as a bit pathetic not to at least question it. They love it when we "don't worry about them". It's precisely what has allowed the drip-drip-drip of negativity about Rangers fans to seep into the consciousness of the nation. You may think life's too short to worry about them, but life's also too short to be treated like a leper because of my choice of football team.
  12. I think if football fans across the world stopped calling opposing fans names, the game would be very different, and not to its betterment. Rivalry and yes, banter, are an integral part of the game and why we enjoy it so much. As a game itself, I find football quite dull. It's largely the tribalism and sense of identification and belonging that has kept me interested for 20+ years. And while you may think it a noble sentiment, in my opinion you're also missing the point that when it comes to "calling them names", there's one rule for Rangers fans and another for supporters of other clubs. I wonder if there's any other football club in the world whose supporters have been persecuted and vilified in the media and society - and as part of a concerted and co-ordinated political campaign at that - as much as Rangers fans these past few years. While I'd still disagree with your stance, it would only have any credence if there was parity across the board. Nobody can argue that we have that just now.
  13. It goes without saying that anything loses its meaning if over-used. But I'd rather we went after the dubious 'Red Hand' salutes personally. That and the cringeworthy FTP add-ons.
  14. This thing has no credibility (a) without England and (b) with ROI.
  15. I would argue that fenian is more acceptable than the widely-used "hun". Even the most head in the sand Celtic-minded bigot, which admittedly is most of them, can't link Fenianism to Roman Catholicism. They've also never been able to explain that if "hun" was simply an anti-Rangers insult, why they have in the past sung "Go home ya huns" to followers of Kilmarnock, Motherwell, Hearts etc. All very basic points that until a co-ordinated fightback begins, will be forever lost in the hysteria of the McConnellite 'anti-sectarianism' (no laughing) crusade.
  16. There are no better words to describe them than f.enian and t.aig, the use of which should be actively encouraged. I mean, it's perfectly acceptable to say 'hun' in the national media, or anywhere else, without fear of repercussion. Why on earth should we be pandering to these same people?
  17. Any time a non-OF SPL forward reaches double figures before Christmas we are linked. We even sign one occasionally. As for Rooney, I personally think David Templeton from Hearts would be a better signing.
  18. Would be a great bit of business to get both tied down. Getting Naismith back into his form of Aug-Oct will be a big factor in stretching our lead at the top next year. Papac will surely sign, he won't play on a bigger stage and he's a popular figure in a successful side. And I don't think he's got an agent either. He might not be at quite the level of a couple of years ago but he can probably decide when to end his stay at Ibrox rather than vice versa.
  19. That whole league is a bad joke.
  20. Why were his team-mates setting up opposition goals and palming innocuous balls away to get red cards at Parkhead then? Oh....
  21. I'd love to see them try to dock points. Hello is that the Court of Arbitration for Sport? Here's a file on the Green Brigade...
  22. Who's "lambasting"? Who's "depressed"? I merely took issue with classing this season as "great", particularly as we're not even halfway through it yet. It's shaping up to be a decent season, but you win nothing in December. We played some superb stuff in the first two months of the season and have dropped off the pace a wee bit since, a few last minute winners and a couple of ropey home results including a hammering from Hibs. You can't qualify everything you say with "ah, but the financial situation". If anything you do a disservice to genuinely good teams like 1992/93 and 1999/00. They were A+ sides.
  23. I was almost with you until this point. Winning the league's great. Playing in the CL after Christmas is great. Winning two games against Dunfermline and Kilmarnock to get to the League Cup semi final doesn't constitute "great" in my book. One of the biggest reasons Rangers are one of the greatest clubs in the world is that we're never happy, we're always striving for better, always striving for more. If you want the semi-final of the League Cup every season, a good opening 14 games and "better than average", you may just have chosen the wrong club to support. Just my opinion.
  24. 2-1 (Miller, Beattie)
