  1. The league was finished a few games ago. The Europa league final is our priority this season. It didn't start off that way but it looks like it's ended this way. Not a bad place to be. I can't see Ange repeating next season what he's done this season. His way of doing things hurt his players which shouldn't be acceptable but then we can say that about a lot of things at that club. Depending on what happens today with Hearts, we really should start blooding the young guys or making a final decision on the fringe players. Next season is going to be a hell of a strain on our team. We have far too many players who are either getting old or can't go a handful of games without spending a month or two out. It's not a good shape to be in when you're entering the big stage next season.
  2. No idea what they're saying on the German channel coverage i'm watching but they've just done a beautiful montage of our club / history and the late Jimmy Bell. They are now currently purring over our Captain with his stats etc. Good to see us getting this level of respect on the European stage.
  3. I don't recall the team or the player but the best part of 12/15 years ago we were in Europe against a Russian team I believe. And they had a winger who would whip in these unbelievably lethal crosses at a stupid speed. I remember it causing total chaos in our box every time. Big high floaties or pointless outies do ma nut in. As do short corners.
  4. Proud of the spirit displayed today. Said it before and I'll say it again, we have far too many players on our payroll who can't go 10 games uninjured. This needs sorted in the summer pronto. Delighted Sakala got his goal he's an infectious lad. Always gets me how we've had class strikers in the past who bottle it at parkhead but then Sakala walks on and slams one in the net. One other thing, I cannot recall a game in which Ange has managed where at least two players haven't hit the deck holding their calves or hamstrings. He's going to burn his squad out.
  5. Ange will have a rocket up their hoops. So I expect a flurry of movement for the first 15 minutes. We need a leader of men to step up and drag us through this.
  6. This is the footballing version of what a boxing match looks like when both fighters don't have a knock out punch.
  7. How the top end of the GPL predictor league looks from 25th.
  8. Well that's a disappointing end to the season.
  9. I've said a few games ago this squad needs broken up. They clearly have sparkly Europa lights in their eyes.
  10. This part of the season is always about the pts regardless of performance. Goldson took his goal well and Ramsay made an actual contribution, not before time. So all and all, what needed to be done was done. I can see GVB ripping this team to shreds at the end of the season, he's clearly not happy with it. Small note that I've noticed recently, is that GVB refers to the players by their first names. Something his manager at Rangers didn't do as he was forever shouting peoples surnames, even during training. GVB seems to value the personal touch. I think we'll be in good hands with him, but you can tell he's looking at some of the players and wondering what Gerrard was thinking.
  11. Dundee 0 Rangers 1 FGS- Arfield.
  12. I don't want to pick on Aribo because we're clearly playing him in the hope he can spark a piece of brilliance despite him being knackered. Kamara looked like he was trying to force his way into the game last night by nipping in here and there. I was pretty sure it was going to be a decent night when the Red Star player tried to shoulder Morelos off the ball and found himself bouncing about 6 feet away from him. They came with a physical mentality and Morelos loves nothing better. They got schooled last night in the fine art of the Buff. Something I've noticed about Jack is that teams in Europe highly respect him. The amount of time and space he gets on the ball is testament to how much of a Tiger he is. Players know not to tangle with him. Tav was simply outstanding, the way he was played last night was very Warburton. He was darting inside and moving around into multiple positions much like how Lee Wallace used to do. Morelos towards the last 20 minutes of the game took up the Prso position where he drifted around the corner of the box and corner flag allowing Tav to slide and cause havok to their marking system. The Morelos/ Tav combo was just too fluid for them. It reminded me of the Tav/Waghorn combo. Hopefully this is GVB admitting Tav is an out and out asset in attack and shouldn't be shackled. Bassey to me is nowhere near polished or finished but he is effective. He keeps it simple and sometimes thats all it takes. He put pressure on the backline late on by trying to keep that ball in but that is just down to his desire. Something he'll learn to control with age. All in all, we are a competent Europa league side. We're not without our flaws obviously, if we didn't have said flaws we'd be champions league not Europa. The away tie will be a dog fight and the players need to stand up to it. ps, GVB dispatching Lundtrum as a sweeper is just genius. He's not stupid or stubborn, he's watching and judging, always.
