  1. I'm not sure giving Baily Rice 45 minutes against QP in a cup defeat at Ibrox is the same as throwing Curtis and Rice into the mix at old Trafford. I do get your point overall.
  2. Same reason we paid Goldson 38k a week over 4 years then decide to take a hit 2 years into his contract to get him off the wage bill. Same reason we agreed a contract with Hagi then decided to freeze him out because we had changed our mind about how much we wanted to pay him.
  3. LOL we wont be paying our next manager 2 million a year..
  4. I agree with your argument to a degree. people want Clement gone but whoever replaces him will be a lower tier guy earning a fraction of the wage. Knudsen has stuck around at Bodo as he gets a big % of any transfers fees brought in I believe. He is more that the manager there.
  5. Couldn't afford his wages, or the job he did at Celtic was supported by 40 odd million on transfers. I doubt we will have £4 million to spend in the summer barring a lottery win.
  6. George Graham taking bungs in recruitment. A real dream team.
  7. Dont think we could afford his lunch bill never mind his wages.
  8. Pulled out of buzzword bingo dustbin with player trading model
  9. It might not be McInnes, but it will be someone in that pay range. A Jimmy Theilin type from Scandinavia or similar.
  10. The answer to that is simple, but no one wants to admit it. They quite frankly have no idea where to go from here.
  11. He left because of how the Parks were running things. They are still here. I personally don't want him, no.
  12. I highly doubt any of that matters. Players and agents come for money. That's it.
  13. Sean Dyche salary and contract details as Everton manager - The SportsGrail If its not McInnes, it will be someone in the same salary range.
  14. We are downsizing the squad and we will downsize the manager too. Don't get me wrong he deserves to go but a guy of his profile is expensive. This is a perfect opportunity to go get a McInnes or someone else that will accept a fraction of big Phils wage.
  15. Real Madrid are just magical in the champions cup/Champions League. Unstoppable. Didn't think City were bad at all last night but Real just pull things out the hat.
  16. Both are good championship level players, its no surprise to see them doing well in League 1. The issue with them up here is they are not aggressive or physical enough for Scottish football. Both build like the side of a fiver with the aggression and desire of a sleeping koala. This has been, and still is a major failing in our recruitment since Gerrard left.
  17. I see Villa have announced the signing of a young Turkish player, and Inter Milan will sign Zagreb and young Croatian star, with him undergoing a medical yesterday. I long for us to be this organised. Given our situation, we should be proactively setting up deals for players right now. We've managed to secure Cameron on a Bosman, but we could also be negotiating fees and other terms in advance. At the moment, our club seems disorganised, with no clear sense of who is coming or going. This lack of structure is incredibly frustrating. It's quite ironic, isn't it? The clubs motto is "ready" but the reality seems far from it. We seem like an unprepared mess scrambling from problem to problem.
  18. The income we get from Europa is dwarfed by the income the other mob get, from yearly CL thrashings and making up the numbers. Domestic success is everything, Europe is a distraction. 'aye but it makes us money' - Yes money this board burned just like they did with the CL money the year we took the thrashings. I'd rather have the silverware. People frequently mention the decline in this club's standards, but one overlooked aspect is the way we've begun elevating our Europa performances as if they compensate for our domestic failures. The truth is, whether it's the Scottish Cup, the League Cup, or the League itself, unless you win, it doesn't count for much.
  19. We wont get anywhere near any of these types of guys for years to come. Our next manager will be an SPFL level guy or a punt on an untested name like Gerrard.
  20. Raskin and Soutter will be down to 1 year so need to be sold, Butland is a problem, we are not getting value from him as of late. Dessers and Propper will likely go, if we can get our cash back for Bajrami we take it. Ridvan, Sterling (nice new contract bro) Danilo cant get fit and stay fit. Nothing about this squad has been fixed or can be fixed in 2 years. Yes we have significantly lowered the wage bill but at what cost for future seasons? As I posted previously in this thread, there is a real danger of them getting ten this time around. We are further away now than we were before Gerrard came in.
  21. Yeah wasn't aimed at you as such, I've seen loads of criticism for him past few weeks on social media and the likes. Not sure what people are expecting is all.
  22. I think this is where we need to be realistic about Jefte. He was a 500k signing, 20 year old from Brazil who played half a season of first team football in Cyprus before he came here. I'd say he has exceeded expectations so far. He just hasn't been able to put it all together. But we need to get used to having guys like this in the team. Its where we are at. He is here for what he can be, not what he is now. When I see Jefte I'm thinking about pre-leg break Alan Hutton. A raw player who had pace and running power, but was naïve defensively and didn't have a cutting edge going forward. Not sure exactly at what age, when or where it kicked in with Hutton, but it seemed like almost overnight he found the final ball, killer instinct and physicality that made him from a backup right back into a £10 million EPL premiership player. He was unplayable for a good 6 months before he left. I'm hoping that's what we see with Jefte. If we don't and he doesn't improve then at worst we have had 4 years of a low wage squad player who cost 500k.
  23. Was never a pen IMO. Terrible decision
  24. I think Igamane would be ideal supporting a Jelavic, Cousin, Prso etc. We need a proper #9 though. I think part of our issue is there is no out ball, hasn't been since Morelos left. We cant make an aimless hoof up the park and have a forward make something from it.
  25. We will be told the usual stuff, the board put their money in to cover costs, club running at a loss etc. That our fault too? Why cant this board take any accountability? Too many need to just go, they don't need to sell up but they need to be completely removed from any positions of influence and be completely passive. They have lost the right to decision making.
