Given how poor our last few transfer windows have been, fans have no confidence in the club to deliver on or off the park. Whether its transfers, construction projects, medical department or games v the rotten mob we have a track record of failure. I don't think any supporter can be blamed for being negative. The club has given very little cause for optimism recently, other than hiring Clement.

Even if you take Goldson out of the frame, with the rest i'd guess: Lawrence 25k Dowell 15k Matondo 25k Davies 25K Wright 5k Lammers 20k That's 115k per week approx on guys who wont / cant contribute. Not to mention the risk we are taking going into another year with Yilmaz as first choice left back, i'd liked to have seen him move on too.

If the diddy teams that expected to fight relegation were safe by Xmas id bet you'd see them blood far more young players. A bigger league wouldn't guarantee this scenario but it would create a larger opportunity for it. No one cares if St Johnstone v Ross County is a relegation deciding 6 pointer or a mid table mothing to play for clash. Its not going to affect attendance or TV figures. Look for opportunities to blood young players.

Old firm right after our final CL qualifier tie I take it? Seems to happen every year.. -
The manager said before that McCausland had only trained with the first team 5 times before he joined the club. There has got to be a pathway, a transition, a bedding in - call it what you will for the youth players to the first team. Surely it must be much easier to play with guys you know and have a rapport with (especially as a young in experienced player) rather than being chucked in and expected to save our season. Agree 100% about throwing guys in (if they deserve it) at home games v St Johnstone or Ross County. The other thing no one talks about is the 5 subs. We are at home to St Johnstone or Ross County and 2-0 up at half time then bring on a few youngsters after 50-60 mins.

I think if you have a guy like Shankland then you play him. Quality isn't overly important - the most important thing is that you have a focal point and the team can work around deficiencies. I find it very difficult to believe any other forward we have could be less effective than Adams who looks like he won a raffle to play football. Shanklands movement in ten mins v Hungary was more than Adams had done in 3 games. Agree on the wingers thing, but when you have fullbacks like Robertson / Tierney / Hickey for the left or Patterson / Hickey on the right then you'd want the midfield to play narrow to give these guys space to run into.
