Match Thread [FT] Rangers 1 (Lawrence 14) - 4 Lyon

Lyon have a squad packed with quality. They have players on the bench that they have paid more than we paid for our entire starting XI. But have they played well? No not really. Disappointed to be a goal down tbh. -

Bajrami is good. Should be the minimum level of quality for a wide attacking player or a #10 for us. -

Surprised they gave that thought they would be overprotective of the keeper. Good play by Dessers hassle the keeper. -

If we win 7-0 I'll be slightly pleased and focusing on the real big game this week v St Johnstone. If we lose 7-0 I'll be slightly annoyed, but get over it quickly and focus on the real big game this week v St Johnstone -
Yeah sorry I cant clarify further. Not really sure what's going on with it and has been a massive frustration for us past few weeks as its made a 20 min drive home 50 mins on an average Thursday night. Hopefully they are done and no closures tomorrow but I'd put in a plan B just in case.

I’m not sure, I think the direction depends on which section of the bridge they are removing on those particular days. The M8 westbound on ramp at kinning park has been shut the past 2 Thursdays after 8pm so I’m not sure this resource is accurate in terms of road closures: https://swtrunkroads.scot/scottish-south-west-trunk-roads/m8/m8-kirkwood-street-and-cornwall-street-footbridges/

We will all have a good laugh at them but I don't think they care, they just turn up, pass go and collect the money from the CL then go beat the dross at the weekend. We should look to do the same. I fear we will put our best XI out against Lyon in the hope of a good result for a minimal return finance wise then struggle Sunday v St Johnstone as a result.

Their worst result in Europe was 7-0 by Barca under Brendan Rodgers. Is he going to beat his own record?

This Spanish Greg Taylor has made a real difference to Celtic this half. They have only conceded 2 goals so far.
-
Could be 9 or 10 if it wasn’t for the GK to be fair.
-
The beggars are being completely out classed here, but note the difference a focal point like Serhou Gourassey offers that we don’t get from our 9. And the movement of BVB’s wide 2 running inside. The fact we have Cerny who can’t run or hussle and Matondo who is basically a man down v them is a frustration. Hope we can get Cortes fit and play Bajrami wide to trouble them in a similar way. Also guys like Trusty and Bernardo look miles off it. Don’t think Kyogo or Khun has touched the ball. The much lauded Callum McGregor easily nullified by closing off the passing channels. Dortmund miles ahead, but other mob fc shouldn’t be capitulating like this.

Think the M8 is shut in sections after 8pm they are replacing the flyover walkways between kinning park and govan. Please check this if driving home as it may get painful.

RANGERS Football Club are today delighted to announce that Dujon Sterling has signed a contract extension which will keep him at the club until May 2028. The 24-year-old has committed his future to the Light Blues after becoming a valuable member of Philippe Clement’s squad over the last 12 months. Sterling joined the club from Chelsea in the summer of 2023 and quickly displayed his capacity to fulfil a number of different roles in the team. In doing so, the Englishman made over 30 appearances, split between defence and midfield, in his maiden campaign at Ibrox. Indeed, Sterling was a standout performer in the second half for the Gers in their memorable away victory over Real Betis to clinch qualification to the UEFA Europa League knockout stages last December. Three days later, he produced a Man of the Match display in the League Cup final to help deliver the first piece of silverware of Clement’s reign. Rangers Announce Dujon Sterling Signs Contract Extension | Rangers Football Club Good decision or stuck with another perma crock long term? Time will tell but I'm unsure about this one.

Agreed. The manager has said many times his frustration with the rules as a coach is how does he give his players clear instructions on how to avoid giving away penalties when the rules aren’t clear to anyone. He has a point.
