I often think about when PLG left and Walter came back. Now, I know there was only one Walter. But the first thing he did was put a spine back in the team for little or no cost. I can’t help but think a 6” plus 80kg defender, midfielder and forward can transform this side. If done correctly. They don’t need to be world beaters just compliment what we have. We don’t need a war chest to get better. We just need to make better decisions.

This season was written off before a ball was kicked IMO. No one can look at our transfer activity in the summer and think we are better off. We were told we need to dump wages and that’s why. This is just going to be a long season of turgid dross we all need to get through and hope that recruitment improves and we somehow manage to bring in a few big fees for the likes of Butland, Jefte or Sterling.

Just a quick point in recruitment, if the scouts that identified and recommended the likes of Davies and Matondo are still at the club and involved in recruitment then we will have the same recruitment problems regardless of who is DOF or 1st team manager.

I actually like all 3 midfielders that started the game yesterday and agree with you on how Diomande is deployed by the manager, but the big problem for me with the 3 of them is they are so small and slight. Raskin has a little dig but Barron can be pushed about and Diomande is built like the side of a fiver.

Diomande is giving Dessers a run for biggest waste of 4.5 million in years.

So it shows how bad Dessers is when Danilo outperforms him. And as you said even he isn’t that good. I’ve banged on about this for ages, this team needs a proper 9 that can hold up the ball, win high balls and link up play. Dessers is 0/3 and Danilo is 1/3.
