Here is another interesting example of a TV deal that hasn’t been negotiated by a couple of Peter Lawwells poodles

Rangers are a good side. The first 3 are big clubs but Braga are not. Average attendance is around 12k after a quick google. Yes, Portugal is a bigger country. Yes it has 3 'big' clubs instead of 2. But look at the disparity between our deal and what they reportedly receive. Its absolutely massive. I'm not sure how La Liga does it, although they seem to have a centralised 'La Liga TV' channel that they package up and sell to the US/Middle East. Comes with complete pre match/post match/highlights etc.

Yup - interesting. Right? And look at the value of the deal (wiki can be inaccurate i concede). A country with a population of 10 million. Has a TV deal worth a reported 180 Million Euro. Incredible. Even if it was only half of that.

Like i say its complex. But, for example i subscribed to Now TV for Sky sports last year. Only for watching Rangers. But while i had the subscription i watched the odd EPL game. On a Sunday afternoon I would watch Rangers, then I would have an EPL game on after while i do something around the house. The put on Monday night EPL/EFL game to kill some time will I am on my exercise bike. The data they would get for my account is that I watched 2 English games and 1 Scottish game. But I wouldn't have subscribed without them showing that 1 SPL game, and as such wouldn't have watched the two English games. But they dont show very many SPL games. So the data doesn't always tell the whole story (IMO).

I don't think there is a comparable league that shares a TV market with another, bigger league.. The fact we as Scottish and English football fans subscribe to Sky/BT/Premier Sports UK which presents English and Scottish league football is unique as far as I'm aware. There is no way for Sky to know who in the UK subscribes for SPFL content and who subscribes for EPL/EFL content. They just have UK subscribers. Its probably a bit more complex than i am able to articulate right now. but what I am thinking is there may be a large chunk of subscribers from Scotland who Sky assume pay the subscription to watch Brighton v Palace on a Monday night. When they actually only subscribe to watch rangers away games. Interestingly he looks like he will be a training ground coach, I see his previous roles at City and the previous club (i forgot) were more strategical and youth academy director type roles.

It’s almost chicken and egg though. These teams need more investment to improve. With a pathetic TV deal like this it won’t happen. Do we even know how the SPFL gauge this as a competitive bid? Have they done any DD with other potential suppliers? We will never know. But you can bet your bottom dollar a former Celtic chief exec is still pulling strings somewhere. And they drag us down with them.

I watched the first half and that was nothing short of pathetic. Goalkeeper scared of the ball. Charlie Mulgrew is absolutely woeful. Jack Ross emulating his mentor Brendan Rodgers in Europe. United clearly not as compact and organised as they were under courts.

3-0 FGS Lawrence not starting so changing to Colak

He seems to have disappeared off the face of the earth. Not even posting any of his usual rehab or car videos on Instagram. Given he spends most of his time down in the midlands its probably best he moves back down there, I prefer players/staff to fully commit.

I fully expect the likes of Katic, Sakala, Kelly, Roofe to be moved on. No guarantee a bid doesn't come in from somewhere for Morelos or Kent either.

I'd prefer us to just play and get the team to gel.

Think its just prize money. Doesn't count the matchday ticket and RTV revenue we would have brought in. Should still be a decent profit after costs deducted from tickets and TV alone. Just a guess, hard to tell without seeing the finances.

I went for Lawrence but special mention to Lundstram who was great and Sands who did well defensively(despite a few misplaced passes), very aggressive in the tackle 1v1 like Bassey was. A very different team from Saturday but it worked very well.

My line-up didn't come with such a snazzy graphic but i wouldn't be unhappy with this team either. Only reason I left out Matondo is I think they have him sussed.

Team prediction: GK - McLaughlin DL - Yilmaz DC - Sands DC - Goldson DR - Tav CM - Lundstram CM - Kamara AMR - Wright AML - Kent if fit (Lawrence if not) AMC - Lawrence if Kent is fit (Tillman if not) CF - Colak (Morelos cant be fit enough IMO)

Some of his signings have been odd. Malacia is an average left back. Martinez is a decent centre back but very small in stature for the EPL. They are now after Marko Arnautovic from Bologna, a stereotypical journeyman. Not a good outlook.

I hope they make it through, we need that coefficient raised no matter what. We cant keep performing in Europe the way we have and are due a bad year or two so other clubs need to help out.

We need to remember this is the first time for many of this squad they will face the 'park the bus' week on week. It will take time for them to adjust and find thier best approach.
