  1. I've said this before on here but the Bosman market and English market is expensive wages wise. The fact we seem to focus pretty much all our transfer activity there will be a big part of it. When you can bring in players from the likes of Japan, Israel and lower tier leagues they will demand far less in wages.
  2. Listening to the heart and hand podcast last night Andy McGowan said we have a higher playing staff wage bill than they do. If true we can’t complain about finances.
  3. I don’t think the issues with this bunch has ever been a lack of quality since they proved it with 55. The fact we dropped points at pittodrie and Dingwall shortly before pumping Dortmund in the westfalen points towards attitude. It’s the same lack of winning attitude that was likely behind last weekends non performance.
  4. Absolutely. I bemoaned the fact it took us so long to get Cantwell and Raskin in on here at the time and look how it impacted us last week. We should be talking to clubs and players now. Not waiting till summer.
  5. Have a wee think about it I’m sure you’ll get it at some point
  6. Would love to know how much we are making from these games on RTV. Absolutely no chance a rangers fan buys on hibs tv when a short flight to France allows a purchase and view on rtv instead. Perhaps there was method in this tv deal madness and the diddy clubs have shot themselves in the foot.
  7. I think its probably worth mentioning, no matter how unpalatable, how much Celtics record this season (and last to some extent) is maybe skewing our perspective on performance. Sure, winning is everything. But they are on course for a record 107 points i believe. I cant recall a period in Scottish football where one team has been winning so consistently. We could quite easily beat them twice and see them lose to one of the other teams and still not win the league. Perhaps taking a more aloof perspective and continuing with small improvements year on year (and I'll not go into specifics arguing the point about what these are, but lets say financials for the sake of it) is still progress. Dont get me wrong we can still improve a lot in many areas but lets not chuck the baby out with the bathwater because of an unprecedented level of domestic results across the city.
  8. Went exactly as expected at the weekend and I presume he will be back in his seat at Parkhead shortly.
  9. I genuinely couldn't give a hoot about the ladies team. 1 million per year seems like an awful lot of money. Id wonder if the likes of Glasgow city spend 1 million a year operating the ladies team.
  10. 20 mins in and really struggling with the guy doing the interviewing.
  11. Anderson potentially a cheap 3rd choice striker and its not a bad idea. I think Miovski and Duk would be far too expensive for us. Also i believe there were rumours we were after him in the summer.
  12. Not watched it yet but going to listen during the lunchtime walk. Thought I’d share here in case anyone else interested.
  13. No but it would be sensible to compare him with someone like Jota, Meada, Duk who have played similar minutes and have a far better output. These stats back up what I can see why my own eyes watching Kent for years, he is not clinical enough in front of goal. Compare that with Sakala who despite looking like a guy who won a competition to play for Rangers at times has a far better output.
  14. We could print this out and put it on a panel outside the managers office at the training ground like the other motivational quotes. It seems to be the requirement for us every summer sadly. Which speaks volumes. If Raskin and Cantwell are anything to go buy, this could actually be the summer where we actually do well.
  15. Those stats speak volumes. @Rousseau The least of our worries perhaps. But I think worth a discussion when approaching his contract situation and roi of any renewal.
  16. I think yesterday has shown us Raskin wasn’t ready fitness wise. Cantwell looked ready though so valid question there.
  17. Pretty sure he was in a job titled director of football at Southampton but made the tea for the real guy in charge of the football operations. Hence why he left to come here as it was a step up in role. im still on the fence with him. On one hand he isn’t a scout so won’t be involved in the technical identity and scouting of players, although ultimately responsible for that activity. And our recruitment hasn’t really been good enough. On the other hand he done well to get so much for the likes of Patterson and Bassey. Can you image what we would have sold them for if Martin Bain was here..
  18. I don’t think it’s a lazy appointment at all. In fact his record so far is much better than any of his predecessors. His values and strengths as a manager will no doubt match our recruitment policy of finding affordable young hungry players to lead us on. Not sure who else should/would have come in instead?
  19. Tcantz an absolute baller. Covers some amount of ground.
  20. The stuff about Raskin wasn’t meant as a direct comparison between the two, just a small scale example of a player being more direct. What you’ve posted is about Raskin yesterday is fine by me and mirrors what I saw. But I still believe Kent could be more direct and hurt teams more. He tends to dwell to much on the ball and hold play up. In an way it’s a style that’s really effective for us in Europe at times, but I think holds us back domestically.
  21. It depends at what cost for me. 25k a week for 3 years and yes I’d resign. Anything north of that and I’ll be happy to let him go. I don’t think he has improved much since he joined and has little chance of being sold on if he does renew.
  22. Neither of these points negate the overall view that Kent slows down our attacks in general, not just yesterday.
  23. Kent in the second half yesterday was a great example of how he slows us and our play down at times. Constrast with Raskin who is a head up move forward football. If there is space he will run into it. If there is a forward pass he will play it.
  24. I think that's fair, we could use better leadership from our board, a public facing leader like Dave King or David Homes. But other than that what do they expect? David Murray back? A middle eastern sheik buying us for a laugh?
