  1. I've been critical of the on the pitch stuff and radio silence on the comms but yes credit for the off the pitch 100%
  2. Thanks - out of interest where did you get that info?
  3. NEH? Paying back more director loans if any are there? Would be good for us mere plebs to get some clarification.
  4. Good point. IIRC when we got to Manchester, around half of the income was paid out to staff in bonuses (thanks Martin Bain) 🥸
  5. At a guess our top earners will be(in no order): Morelos Kent Lundstram Goldson Davies Tavernier Roofe Which begs the questions: Is the EPL the best place to be signing players from? Should we be renewing contracts of players so often or deciding to move on and re-invest in younger cheaper players. Ross Wilson is supposedly on record of saying he prefers free transfers and high wages over a period apposed to 1 off transfer fee payments and lower wages. Not sure that approach fits with our financial outlook. Surely a lower wage bill over the term with transfer fee outlays when we can afford it.
  6. Yes, to an uneducated financial ignoramus like me it looks like: Our wage bill is too high (constant) Selling Patterson/Gerrard & Co has made a massive difference (one off) Euro run has made a massive difference (one off) Penalty payment to SD is an ouch (one off) Loan repayments is an ouch (one off) Looks like we struck gold getting to El final and selling Patterson/Gerrard. Without that, we could be in trouble. Football operations need to tackle wages. Too many players with no real resale value earning a large wage is problematic. Positives for next year will include Aribo/Bassey and CL cash, but be countered with NEH and repair costs? Are there any more significant outstanding loans to be paid? Poor TV deal impacts us greater than it does other team (funny that) Happy to be corrected by someone who knows what they are doing
  7. Worth clicking on the link for a thread comparison.
  8. https://www.rangers.co.uk/Article/annual-report-and-accounts-and-notice-of-2022-agm/5pFf0OZcq2CLkEe1rbgHyp (link to report here) In his annual report the Chairman, Douglas Park, commented: “The past year has provided many highs and lows, along with challenges both on and off the park, but ultimately, I believe we are continuing to grow stronger as a Club. "This time last year, I repeated my belief from 2015 when this current Board took control of the Club, that this would be a 10-year recovery project. "While there have been moments in the last year that have exceeded both my own and the Board’s expectations (with specific reference to the Europa League run to the final) we cannot, and will not, stand still and continue to have so much more to do. "Assisting us on that path are our strong executive team and talented staff both at Ibrox and at the Rangers Training Centre. Rangers was created by four pioneers, and it should be and is the aim of every single employee of the Club to continue in that spirit. "Beginning on the pitch, we appointed Giovanni van Bronckhorst as our football manager last November. As well as delivering us the Scottish Cup for the first time in 13 years he also, as I touched on earlier, gave the Club a thrilling European journey where we came within a kick of winning only our second European trophy. "This season, under Gio’s leadership, he and the players returned us to the UEFA Champions League for the first time in 12 years by navigating two difficult qualifying rounds in August. "Our ‘player trading model’ is something your Board mention on a number of occasions. On joining the Club, Ross Wilson, our Sporting Director, was mandated by the Board to build a modern football department. "Player trading success was essential to this, as it is a key revenue stream for the majority of European clubs. We are pleased that in the last twelve months, we have achieved two club record sales through our player recruitment and player development processes. "Our Academy continues to perform strongly, with Leon King the latest Academy graduate to make the breakthrough to become a regular fixture in the first team matchday squad. Encouragingly, fourteen players from the Academy have made appearances for the first team since the start of season 2021/22. "The introduction of our B team into the Lowland League has been a fantastic success with the team being challenged week-in, week-out. Additionally, qualification of our first team for the UEFA Champions League Group Stages opened the door for our under-19s to feature in the UEFA Youth League group stages for the first time. "Our women’s football operation is something the Board are very passionate about. Led by Amy McDonald and Malky Thomson, the Club won our first SWPL title in May, and were exceptionally unlucky not to qualify for the UEFA Women’s Champions League group stage after a valiant effort against Benfica in qualifying. "Our entire football operation, led by Ross Wilson, now operates in a world-class environment at the Rangers Training Centre. The Board is committed to further improvements to ensure we retain a facility among the very best in the UK. "Off the field, and allied to performance on the pitch, we have continued to make enormous strides. "I am delighted to be reporting a Club record turnover of £86.8m for the year to 30 June 2022. From this revenue, we returned an Operating Profit of £5.9m which represents an improvement of £27.6m on last year’s operating loss. This demonstrates the success and progress achieved over the last 12 months. "During the year to 30 June 2022, we have raised new equity of £10.1m and taken on new debt of £3.6m to strengthen our financial position.”
  9. Interesting that Levekusen appointed Xabi Alonso from (i think) Real Sociedad youth team management straight into a, not elite club but still top job. Will be watching his progress with interest. I wonder how these teams identify promising young coaches before appointing them. Arteta at Arsenal is similar. Never managed before but straight into a top job.
  10. Indeed. In fact, I'd argue that the stop-gap 'win at all costs' type approach in previous years is skewing how good this window could turn out to be.
  11. I feel there have been issues with recruitment, mostly in the squad building area but i do agree with you. Wilson was able to negotiate a massive deal for Bassey for example, lets be honest no one on here really thought we could get that kind of deal for him. Some on Rangers twitter were happy to punt him for 10 million. I think if Wilson was able to identify and communicate what has went wrong with the squad building (big squad, old players, high wage bill, players made of Styrofoam) then he could win back some support and build confidence from the fan base. At high level detail the changes to the recruitment team and explain how it will work moving forward and why that will fix it.
  12. He's lost 2 leagues in a year. He did well in what you stated but #1 priority is always the League. Anyway, he is going nowhere. The board have accepted mediocrity and have a useful idiot in place so its either get behind him or stop watching the team. He should have been removed after Sunday and I will no longer blame him for anything from here on in.
  13. Yeah, i suppose if thats the level of the boards ambition we just keep ploughing our money in and they keep hiding.
  14. Why not, they did it with Murty and Pedro.
  15. Yes, and i think he will struggle to play 2 games a week too. Quite a bit to take into account for 5 million smackers.
  16. Yeah, i mean he has only threw away 2 league titles. No biggie.
  17. FSG looking to sell Liverpool it seems.. https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/breaking-liverpool-for-sale-fsg-28428805
  18. Like trying to knock down a sky scraper with a pillow
  19. Anyone seen Arno Phillips about lately? Is that why our players look kaput?
