Confirmed: Ross Wilson joins Nottingham Forest

Yes i think you are right on that. I think the criticism of Wilsons role here (from me anyway) is that he should be mitigating the risk of a manager who wants to make signings that may not fit our profile. IE if the rumour of Matondos wage is true, there is perhaps an argument the wage is out with our pay structure for a player of his calibre. Why sign Soutter when you already have the OG centre half crock in Helander etc -
Seen this on BBC - not sure VAR actually got involved at all (which is madness as it should review every goal) https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/articles/c6pz1jrl574o

But the issue is that if the DOF is not producing as expected then any coaches working alongside will be hamstrung by the liability of a DOF. Who knows if there is baggage there, maybe Beale wanted the job when Gerrard left and Wilson went elsewhere. Maybe Beale went above Wilsons head to come back (the infamous Aberdeen game he attended). I think a recruiting strategy needs to be 50/50 from head coach and DOF/club. Not like what I perceived to happen under Gio where he only picked signings from a list of players he was given by the recruitment team (and the famous 'why didn't he sign any players he knew from holland), but at the same time not knocking back big bids for players because Gerrard said so. -

Looking at the guys Leeds and Forest have just sacked I'm not so sure. The Forest guy oversaw recruitment of almost and entire squad of players for mega bucks and the Leeds guy messed up a transfer that's just meant they had to pay a £25 million penalty fee -
Former Sellik TV Pundit, Michael Stewart?

He is like some TV character limmy has come up with if he had a football pundit sketch -

I'm mixed. There are no doubts our recruitment strategy since 55 has been questionable. Signing crocks and the likes of Matondo on big wages. But what if that was Gio's call? On the plus side he was able to negotiate great fees for Patterson and Bassey. Would have liked to have given him the opportunity to right some wrongs this summer. But if the EPL megabucks come calling he will be gone. There is also part of me that thinks maybe Beale has come in with different ideas and maybe its best for Wilson to move on. -
Comes from David Ornstien who is usually reliable.

Buy defenders that can defend? 3 of our first choice 4 defenders cant defend (Tav, Borna, Davies).

Good shot stopper and decent covering box but terrible 1 v 1 and long shots

How do we see the rest of the season going?

Rinse and repeat for Aaron Hickey, Lewis Ferguson etc etc. -
I think we need full time refs if not we should scrap our ref program and us the English league 1 and championship refs.

Not good enough to build a team around I'd agree. But Mo Ross and Boab Malcolm have a fair few medals between them, every winning squad needs these type of players. -

Sounds like the type of players we like. Maybe we’ll build the team around them. -

No one is basing ambitions on guys that may or may not be good squad players. -

Not entirely. It’s possible due to registration rules for Europe to let the manager take a look at these guys and decide if they are good enough for supporting roles rather than expect them to be 50 games a season stalwarts. It’s a squad game. These guys are also cheaper wage wise than some of the squad filler at the moment that can’t cut the mustard. -

Things work differently in football bud. Players get partial payments in lump sums to make up the difference all the time. Like I say, a good DOF can make things happen. If a player wants to move or not. -

Sums up kent for me. No killer instinct. Even if the ball did get to Morelos it’s not hard to imagine him fluffing his lines too -

It'll be hard to rest or leave out some of these let downs if we play to use them in the semi against the other mob. But if the likes of Yilmaz, Lowry, McRorie and King are fit and about they need gametime. Hagi needs minutes in the legs, and would be good to see if we can get anything from Matondo. -

Yep, been saying this for ages, good players but no killer instinct
