  1. That’s true but that’s how real and Barca have operated from day dot. A bunch of oil billionaires bought a random English yoyo club and chucked money at it until they won it all. When Real Madrid went out and bought all the galacticos it just felt like that’s what they do. Historically they have had the worlds best. City have also been at the forefront of this ‘franchise-ification’ of the European game where clubs are bought to be part of a group and it absolutely sucks for football. You have multiple clubs steering towards one singular interest and goal. Or maybe I’m just getting old but it doesn’t feel like football.
  2. Perhaps, but there is something ‘cheat mode’ about the city and PSG approach. When Real Madrid, Liverpool or Bayern win it, it feels more organic. Just big clubs being at the top. Yea they have money and top managers but it’s not the same. For me City winning it has detracted from what a great job Inzaghi and Inter did getting there. A team with decent resources yes but a few old guys on loan and a bit of a good run of form they won’t be likely to recapture in the next 20 years. A remarkable run from them and in many ways a bigger achievement than Ciry winning it all. Actually if anything City have underperformed in Europe for years. Pep also underperformed in Europe at Beyern. He left there and they improved.
  3. Oh well shity score. Game over.
  4. Yeah bit drab. Hoping inter can pinch it
  5. Yeah, i think Jelavic had a poor scoring record before he came to us. When he came he was exactly what we needed.
  6. Villa real supposedly had a ten million bid rejected so I guess that rules us out.
  7. He might be more of a Bergkamp type than a van Nistelrooy in which case i'd take him.
  8. To save the clicks, the 3 players are Sam Lammers from Atalanta, Jose Cifuentes from LAFC and Cyriel Dessers.
  9. Yes but part of the reason they can ask for those high prices is due to the financial backing they get from TV deals that are infinitely better than the SPFL (IMO). Celtic and ourselves can command higher fees as we are backed by the Europeans cash but the diddy clubs are snookered.
  10. Ah interesting. Might be a risk worth taking for us. Can play across the front line, quite a versatile forward player iirc. Loan to buy is the way forward absolutely for cases like this.
  11. Didnt Nice pay 20 million for him What have they put in your coffee this morning? Btw yes i'd take him. Love a Danish forward.
  12. Yeah, thats a downside. Unless he comes in for a low fee on low wages for 4 years and you get 4 good years out of him. Also you would expect if we have Dessers 28, Colak 29/30. Roofe (lol) 30. Then you'd expect a younger guy to come in whos perhaps a bit of a gamble (like Morelos was) as competition.
  13. The likes of Portugal, Holland, Belgium, Austria etc have clubs that have been spending a bit more cash these days compared to 20 years ago. But your right there probably is similar examples but I doubt its at the scale of the SPFLs financial regression.
  14. If you watch some of the youtube videos what stands out for me is he has a great touch & turn with his back to goal and is good running onto though balls, decent bit of pace to him. He will score goals for us no doubt.
  15. 20 years ago Aberdeen spent 1 million on a player Paul Bernard. They also spent about 800k on Dean Windass who was highly coveted down south at the time, Motherwell, Dundee, Hibs all spent more money than they spend now. SPFL must be the only footballing economy that's went backwards over the last 20 years.
  16. If we somehow manage to keep our co-efficient alive for this then I expect FIFA to move the goalposts to avoid including us. Typical miserable me I know.
  17. Player of the Season - Tillman Biggest Flop - Where to begin.... Will go with Morelos. Capable of so much offered.. petulance and not much else. Most Improved - Sakala Unsung Hero - Tav - just for being fit and available and clearly playing through an injury when we were down to the bare bones Best Signing - Cantwell. No Doubt.
  18. He'd be daft not to. Talk is Spurs want to play hardball over a fee. Why would a club pay 100 million + for him now when they can get him on a free next year and just give him a massive sign on fee and massive wages.
  19. West ham spent 380 million building that team. Every other team they played spent 279 million combined. Well done to the plucky little hammers eh?
  20. this guy supposedly knows all transfers from/to Italy so presuming this is a goer
  21. Oh great, we go again with the fullbacks that cant defend then.
  22. Al Ahly making a move for him it seems. ASSE – INFO BUT! Mercato: an XXL offer arrives for Krasso! | OneFootball
  23. This is where his agent needs to earn his corn. We don’t want him, he doesn’t want to be here, I doubt the club will play hardball over a fee.
