Tottenham Appoint Ange Postecoglou As Head Coach
Sutton_blows_goats replied to yuddie's topic in General Football Chat
Spurs have 4 decent pedigree players on loan who are due to leave this summer, Harry Kane in his last year looking to leave, Son getting on a bit as is lloris. Will be an interesting summer for them. Wonder if he’ll be raiding Japan? I have a sneaky feeling he is a fall guy for a season of consolidation while they look to rebuild for a bigger and season after next. Pretty sure this is a faster getaway than the Italian job… -

Couldn't get out quick enough. Really is some turnaround. -
A sad indictment on our society.

This is true and I admit I was being facetious. -
Getting things done swiftly is amazing. Getting all these guys sorted and well in the door for pre season gives me a great level of confidence. Compare this type of business with our pursuit of Colak last summer. A guy not wanted by his club, who wanted to come here, wasn't on big money, club didn't want big money for him and no one else was interested. It still took us about a month and into pre season before signing him. Amateur stuff.

Its an interesting one this. A guy from nowhere who wasn't far from being hounded out the door by the other mob, but a combination of COVID restrictions coinciding with a really bad run of injuries and the re-introduction of the 5 sub rule seemed to galvanize his team and allow him to strengthen before what would have been a massive old firm game. Had that game gone ahead and they lost to a uninspiring but relentless winning Gio driven Rangers who knows what would have happened, he found some real fortune in that sliding doors moment. Instead the game was pushed back, the injuries subsided, we dropped points in-between and they bought some new players which added a new dimension to their play. Obviously he still has to manage these games and win football matches, but football is a game of fine margins at times and when margins are moved in your favor it definitely helps. Who will take over? Who knows. Part of me was hoping he'd stay as Beale will have his number for next season. However this will change their entire dynamic, the squad was shaped and built by him for his style of play. Will be a busy summer in both sides of Glasgow. -
Tillman for me. Would have gone Cantwell if he was here turning in these types of performances in January but as we took so long to get the deal done he didnt really get going until later. Tav ended the season well but was just not at the races for a large part of the first half. Colak sadly got injured or I'm sure he would be a contender. Injury prone haddy of the year a much harder one to call.

Beale spoke a few times about how the club including him spotted Raskin when we played liege a few years back. 💯 down to Beale and nothing to do with Wilson who it will probably reveal in time was a useless imposter. The fact he has been gone 5 mins and we’ve got 2 signings announced and Butland supposedly on the way before the window opens speaks volumes for me.

Well done all and big thanks to @Rousseau for all the hard work facilitating this. -
Don’t mind Soutter playing for Scotland but Jack shouldn’t be considering it.

Oh well it’s over. Was a domestic disaster but only finished 7 behind for all the bad performances and points dropped under Gio. Things looking brighter for next season.
