Many of us recall days under smith signing top players like Gazza, Laudrup, Thern from big Italian clubs. Butcher, Woods, Steven, Stevens further back. Then signing some top Dutch internationals and French World Cup winners under Advocaat. Salzburg would never have had that, intact now I’d argue they sign higher profile players than they ever did. i suppose it’s a resetting of expectations we need to have. These days are over and we need to adjust as a fan base.

Not sure if the managers faith in Lammers as a #10 is going to pay off. He looks like a Cedric Itten to me, a tidy enough big player but nothing really to hurt teams. Surprised at Dessers starting as he looked miles off it. Looking forward to seeing Danilo. Glad to see Cantwell back and no Lundstram.

I see Peter Boez is the PSV manager, he managed to beat us with Leverkusen and Lyon. But I don't think he is a good manager, nor do PSV seem to have a better team this season than they did last year. Having lost the German left back, Gakpo and Simmons and not really replaced them we should be able to take them should we advance. They have brought in Noa Lang from Brugge who is hit and miss. Pace in abundance. And USA striker Ricardo Pepi from Augsburg who I havent seen much of but is still young. Speaking of Brugge, as a few mentioned how they had a good model - they now have Ronny Deila as manager 😅 -
I'm not really looking for much from tomorrow except some signs of life. I'm not so fussed about names on the teamsheet so long as the bodies on the park can play as a team and show some kind of cohesion. Play with a bit of tempo, cut out the stupid mistakes. At the very least please give us some straws to grasp at. I'm less concerned about a 2 leg game v Servette or a PSV (if we make it) than I am about an away day v Killie or St Johnstone. I'd be comfortable thinking if we didn't get a result tomorrow that we could go to Switzerland in a high pressure European game and manage to produce something. Its this bizarre paradox that this squad have shown under a few managers now and likely a mentality thing. You cant sh*t the bed away to Ross county but beat Dortmund in their own stadium and lack quality. We seem to excel in the Europeans arena but live within ourselves domestically (see us get knocked out now I've said that).

Spurs looking to replace Harry Kane with a 31 year old Iranian striker is the most spurs thing ever.

Your last 2 posts have been 100% about my opinion or my posting style but have made 0 points about any positives on the park other than wait and see, it’s too soon, you’re simplifying it, it’s adolescent, it’s crazy etc. You and others seem to be fixated on this ‘one game’ but truth is there have been much more than that, albeit with a few different players. Not the team shape looks good, the forward line looks sharp, there is a definite game plan here we can see what they are trying to do. The defence looks solid, our injury issues look over with, we have cut out the stupid defensive errors, we play with an urgency and temp that teams will struggle with.

I'm pretty calm about it. Absolutely nothing to be getting excited about that's for sure. Yes I keep it simple. You can call it a knee jerk reaction. I suppose it comes down to interpretation. I've had 8/9 months to watch plenty of games and come to a conclusion. It seems that is not enough time to judge in your opinion and that's fine. This is a forum for airing opinons.
