CL Play Off Round Draw: RANGERS / Servette vs PSV / Sturm Graz

I see Peter Boez is the PSV manager, he managed to beat us with Leverkusen and Lyon. But I don't think he is a good manager, nor do PSV seem to have a better team this season than they did last year. Having lost the German left back, Gakpo and Simmons and not really replaced them we should be able to take them should we advance. They have brought in Noa Lang from Brugge who is hit and miss. Pace in abundance. And USA striker Ricardo Pepi from Augsburg who I havent seen much of but is still young. Speaking of Brugge, as a few mentioned how they had a good model - they now have Ronny Deila as manager 😅 -
I'm not really looking for much from tomorrow except some signs of life. I'm not so fussed about names on the teamsheet so long as the bodies on the park can play as a team and show some kind of cohesion. Play with a bit of tempo, cut out the stupid mistakes. At the very least please give us some straws to grasp at. I'm less concerned about a 2 leg game v Servette or a PSV (if we make it) than I am about an away day v Killie or St Johnstone. I'd be comfortable thinking if we didn't get a result tomorrow that we could go to Switzerland in a high pressure European game and manage to produce something. Its this bizarre paradox that this squad have shown under a few managers now and likely a mentality thing. You cant sh*t the bed away to Ross county but beat Dortmund in their own stadium and lack quality. We seem to excel in the Europeans arena but live within ourselves domestically (see us get knocked out now I've said that).

Spurs looking to replace Harry Kane with a 31 year old Iranian striker is the most spurs thing ever.

Your last 2 posts have been 100% about my opinion or my posting style but have made 0 points about any positives on the park other than wait and see, it’s too soon, you’re simplifying it, it’s adolescent, it’s crazy etc. You and others seem to be fixated on this ‘one game’ but truth is there have been much more than that, albeit with a few different players. Not the team shape looks good, the forward line looks sharp, there is a definite game plan here we can see what they are trying to do. The defence looks solid, our injury issues look over with, we have cut out the stupid defensive errors, we play with an urgency and temp that teams will struggle with.

I'm pretty calm about it. Absolutely nothing to be getting excited about that's for sure. Yes I keep it simple. You can call it a knee jerk reaction. I suppose it comes down to interpretation. I've had 8/9 months to watch plenty of games and come to a conclusion. It seems that is not enough time to judge in your opinion and that's fine. This is a forum for airing opinons.

How does he turn it around? What are people thinking, what have they seen which makes them think he will. Or are we again in a place of just get behind them and hope for the best. That hasn’t worked for us much lately. -

I’ve seen many similar comments about this guy from other supporters in social media, but one player doesn’t change that performance today. Especially one that wasn’t a regular starter for an MLS outfit. I suppose we as a support need to look somewhere for hope but putting it all on a player is going to end in disappointment. We need someone to turn this squad into a hungry, aggressive, dynamic, functioning team that can dominate games against lesser teams while consistently creating lots of good quality chances and keeping it tight at the back. In the 9 and a bit months this manager has been here I don’t see any signs of this. -

I expect us to at least look like something that resembles a top flight football team. In my opinion we didn't look like that today. In fact I think we looked a considerable distance from that. -

No one wants the team ripped apart, we want it to actually be a team, a unit. Not 11 clueless buffoons wandering aimlessly around a green area simultaneously mesmerised and afraid of a plastic sphere. -

A similar score line today with us at least playing good football and creating some chances would have been, at least for me, palatable. It would have offered some hope. No idea what that was today. Was like watching a junior game but that's hard on junior teams. And I don't want to hear excuses about the pitch. If we play on the surface of the moon we should still be the better team. -

Here's the thing, pre season is pre season. Means nothing, nothing on the line no trophies no points. Today was a big game. Did we win - no Did we play well - no Did any of our players from last year give any indication that they will add value - no Did any of our new players give any indication that they will add value - no Did our best players from last season when we finished the season well play well - Raskin | no / Cantwell didn't start | don't know why Was our management team surprised at the way a McInnes Kilmarnock team played - it looked like it Did he see this then change it - didn't look like it Did we utilise our attacking fullbacks - no Did we utilise out midfielders who can shoot from distance on a park that has an un predictable bounce - no Do we look any better than this time last year under van Bronkhorst - no Do we look like we have a shape or cohesive gameplan - no Do we look good at the back - no Can we rely on a Soutter who has played about 10 games and made 3 massive mistakes (livi away last year, celtic away last year, today) - no Do we look dangerous upfront - no We have removed cantwell who finished last season strongly and replaced him with Lammers who did nothing of note today and although scored a few goals in pre season raised concerns about the overall shape / cohesiveness of the team. - Why? Did we look like we wanted it more than them - no. I could go on. The manager has had a full pre season to work with these guys, what were they doing? -

As of right now I’d prefer he was relieved of his duties before further damage done. -

Spent a fortune on forwards and created nothing against a team which is basically an elevated junior outfit on some B&M faux grass. Acceptable? Not for me. Not sorry if that upsets you.
