I'll be absolutely delighted if McCoist takes over from WS. He might not have the management experience, but what he lacks in that department, he more than makes up for in others. I only hope that if he IS given the opportunity, he's respected & given time to get it right if things don't go our way.

Brilliant stuff. That made me smile earlier. Just as well we won though...

Boric should have been red carded today.

Woopsadaisy.

Have to agree mate, but I think your Hull prediction is wrong. I see them getting another away win...

Btw Bluedell, Reid didn't just 'upset' the Muslim community, he actually actively participated in upsetting plenty of communities & sections of British society in with the sole purpose of creating a mindset of segregation as per British government policy. Was it a coincidence that while Reid was doing his stuff on this front that out of nowhere the former PM Blair was publicly announcing his (& thus the governments') support of 'Faith Schools' - IE: segregation?
-
Yep and he won't be the last, but he's probably better connected than McConnell or Salmond whether he's still 'officially' active in government or not. IMO, he doesn't need to be an active politician to be able to pull the right strings.
-
Agreed. I personally think that some of you expect too much from SDM. You expect him to fight battles that are not his battles. If a rangers fan does this or does that, is it SDM's fault? Should he be held accountable? I don't think so!!
-
Boo hoo. I feel so sorry for him.
-
Cheers mate, I just did likewise with an edit. I think things have got worse because I had a feeling that they would as soon as I heard that Reid had been appointed. My first thought was 'WTF?'. If you don't think that having a man as well connected politically as John Reid stand up publicly pointing his green finger at Rangers fans has worsened the situation I fail to see why because I don't know what could be much worse.
-
You're right Craig & I did know that, but the dubious (imo) addition of John Reid to the equation seems to have had a similar effect as throwing petrol on a fire.
-
If you don't believe like me that John Reid stepping into the post at Celtic, the emergence of an obvious bias in some of the media & the recent upsurge in issues pertaining to sectarianism & segregation in society are all intrinsically linked, that's absolutely fine with me, but I personally do believe that there's more at play than meets the eye & that these issues are indeed all linked & that John Reid plays a big part in this.
-
On paper they look like totally different issues, but when it comes to John Reid I personally don't think that it's some sort of bizarre coincidence that he was instigating segregation between sections of British society well before he moved to Celtic & has continued to do just that in his post there.
-
I think that SDM has to be careful not to make it a personal war between himself & Reid, since politically & in the mhedia Reid seems to have more influence. I think that's precisely why Reid went from government to Celtic Park. The problem that SDM faces isn't quite as simple as it seems because taken at face value John Reid's comments have been about the supposed sectarian songs sung by Rangers fans, but the heart of the matter is much more sinister if you consider that John Reid has actually been directly involved in instigating the renewal & strengthening of the religious divide in Scottish society, something which is undoubtedly politically motivated in the highest order. In John Reid's final year or so in government, he was responsible for similar politically motivated outbursts which stank of the divide & conquer tactic. He deliberately infuriated the British Muslim community with various outbursts that were clearly designed to reinforce the divide & differences between white Brits & the Muslim community. Obviously it's advantageous to the powers that be that were all fighting against one another rather than joining forces & working together to improve our country & lives. Maybe if we're all too busy fighting we won't ask too many questions of our Government & it's actions. In the bigger picture it's probably just another way to aid the dumbing down of society.
-
Well, John Reid deserves to be condemned much more convincingly for his propaganda efforts, but it wouldn't be wise for SDM to get too heavily involved in personal attacks on Reid. That's for other people to do imo.
-
Brown was pretty poor imo. If he was able to hack & actually get away with it like Tevez the Scotland team would be better off. Didn't really think Ferguson was that great tbh, but when he's got the likes of Brown & Hartley to work with maybe it's understandable. As for Maloney... WTF? He had a terrible game... Poor awareness & positioning, poor touch & passing... Don't even want to talk about Burley & Butchers' substitutions. Ok, it was only a friendly, but what a shambles!! Burley & Butcher can GTF ... and the sooner the better.

Quality article Cammy. Not really sure that I agree that casuals & firms partially died off due to getting into the rave scene though. Even if many of them did get into the rave scene (which I'm quite sure they did), I think their profile change was more due to the heavy policing & stadium bans that were introduced across the UK in nationwide efforts to curtail the widespread violence that perpetually spread from the Hooligan elements. Like you rightly said, many 'normal' fans would quickly get involved, either to help out fellow supporters in trouble or since after a few jars the prospect of chinning an opposing fan that thought he was a smart ass was quite appealing. I remember approaching Hampden many years ago for a Scottish Cup Final & as I strolled up the street with a mate, all of a sudden I realized that we were being passed by the ICF who were walking much faster & obviously hurrying to a battle. Looking back now, I'd love to have at least witnessed the battle, but at the time I didn't say anything to the mate I was with & we just carried on strolling up to Hampden at our own pace. Have to say that I haven't read any of the books you've mentioned, but I really enjoyed the Bravo series on Firms & Hooligans. what was it called again? 'The Real Football Factories' or something? Great series anyway. Funny as f*ck to see the wee fake hard man Danny Dyer shitting his pants every time he met a hardcore firm. :fish: I've watched a few films on the subject as well, but can't remember all the names. I think one of them was just called Football Factories & probably based on the book you mentioned with the same name. It's strange you know, because part of me likes that whole subject & even respects some of the old school nutters, but at the same time, the violence & Hooligan element in general has definitely brought the game into disrepute over the years & in general a lot of shame. There's also all the innocent bystanders that have been seriously injured or worse because of trouble started by members of the firms. Mark

If ever we had a reason to win the league..........
Zappa replied to Yieldshields loyal's topic in Rangers Chat
Absolutely & we CAN win the title this year. IMO more positivity from us as supporters will help the team a lot. No points are lost/dropped until the ref blows the final whistle in every game & even when we do drop points we still need to believe in the team & club. -
Chances are that it WAS Celtic fans, but it's worth noting that with all the other attacks on Rangers players cars or property it would be possible for absolutely anyone to do such a thing expecting it to be instantly blamed on the Mopes.

At least we've got the satisfaction of knowing that he's a wee tosser that'll be gutted at the end of the season. Stay positivo. -
Totally shocking. Looks like they got another 2 points that they didn't deserve.

Nah, he got fan of the week for winging more than anyone else. :fish:

+1 We don't deserve to loose the SPL title due to poor or obscenely bias officiating (which may well have been the case last season FWIW).
