AFAIK he's fit and completed the full pre-season. Similar situation to Webster where it's a bit of a gamble to bring him straight back in to the team when he's been out for so long. If they're not going to give him a chance though he might as well go out on loan as he's too good a talent to be wasted. Also Papac has been doing really well, so it's not as if Smith would walk straight back into the side. ATM though, if Papac got injured I reckon there's more chance of Broadfoot or Whittaker playing LB.

Huelo mierda!! I suppose time will tell. In the meantime it looks like we've got ourselves a useful player to take up one of the under-21 squad places for the next couple of seasons.
-
How could you forget big Marv? Since you're going as far back as Konterman, Boumsong etc. you might as well add: Amo De Boer Berg Khizanishvili
-
Also, WHY wouldn't it be a serious post? We're talking about our captain I'm only going by what I heard on the radio. I can understand that we're supposed to take everything that Chick Young says with a pinch of salt. No need to shoot the messenger though.

I've got to ask, how can LCB & RCB be 3 different positions? or did you think I was trying a sneaky wee 4-4-4 formation Jon? :fish:
-
No mention of the injury on the official website yet or anywhere else for that matter. Could just be Chico talking pi$h again
-
Personally, I'd like to see us going with: Whittaker___Bougherra___Papac___Smith with Broadfoot on the bench, but I think that's unlikely
-
Besides, when we're talking about a back 4 that consists of nothing but centre-backs (except Whittaker & Smith) what's the difference ?
-
I think you'll find that's 2 different positions ...Just like Broadfoot and Papac.
-
Hamstring apparently. Where does that leave us for this weekend? 1. Broadfoot______Bougherra____Papac______Smith 2. Whittaker____Broadfoot____Bougherra_____Papac 3. Broadfoot_____Bougherra_____Dailly______Papac

A half decent midfielder, which can only be better than McCulloch or Dailly. £2.5m does seem a little bit steep though. Spurs only paid Porto £2m for him and did Portsmouth not get him on free?
-
10 Goals in 42 appearances for Australia. He was top scoring midfileder in Serie A a couple of seasons back, while he was with Parma. Looks like a good player with plenty of experience at the top level. Newcastle are supposedly interested though.

Not sure what I think about this one. Even with Cuellar gone, we're not exactly left short of options at CB, but a couple of those options are dubious at best when it comes to quality. That said, he hasn't played regular football for a long time (the same applies to Stevie Smith) and it could prove to be a costly gamble for us to bring him straight back into the fold. Could be a good idea, but then if he gets off to a flyer and we're left struggling in defence till January, the knives will be out.
-
I'll take your word for it Pete. Meanwhile we should tell the press we're in negotiations for £5m rated Franny Jeffers  Wonder if the dhims would fall for it.
-
Obviously we can't do the same back to them or else there'd be no signings at all. We should probably look to other leagues instead. Maybe start checking out the Dutch press for speculation on signings for Ajax, PSV & Feyenoord?
-
Agreed. Why pay for scouts when you can get you're rivals to do all the donkey-work for you?
-
Agreed. It's been the same for years as well. You'd think they don't practice taking set-pieces in training at all. ...or defending them
-
How about this one: _______________McGregor_______________ Broadfoot____Bougherra_____Weir____Papac Whittaker________Thomson________Beasley Novo_________Boyd/Velicka________Lafferty

It's NOT blind optimism to believe that we still have a good chance of winning the SPL when it's just kicked off. Sorry, but I just don't believe the hype. I believe in our team and despite our pre-season performances being uninspiring, despite our embarrassing defeat at the hands of Kaunas, despite us being without Ferguson for almost half the season and despite us selling Cuellar I still believe we will win the SPL this season. For one I think our European exit CAN work in our favour. I think the midfield WILL be strengthened before the transfer deadline. I also think that the current SPL holders aren't looking too hot themselves and that the SPL is there for the taking. Time will tell who's right, but I choose to back Rangers.

Same old, same old as far as I'm concerned. When we're going for 3-in-a-row come 2010, in the previous season, having raised the bar further in the CL (once again) for Scottish football, these hacks will still be gibbering their 'End of the world is nigh' pi$h. How about 'papering over the cracks' in yer heed Darryl? .
-
So it's Middlesborough now? Well at least that's a step up from Cardiff

If Magic's fit.... __________________Mcgregor__________________ Broadfoot_____Bougherra______Webster_____Papac Whittaker_____Hemdani_____Thomson_____Lafferty __________Velicka____________Boyd____________ Subs: Alexander, Furman, Fleck, Darche, Adam, Smith

One thing I've been thinking about. Let's say someone else had come in and bought that £50m worth of shares. Exactly what sort of shareholding would that have represented?
-
Of course we're all entitled to our opinions MF. A lot of your posts do make me wonder though. You obviously have no time for the chairman ...and the rest of the board. You hate the manager, you have nothing good to say about any of the players and you're consistently at loggerheads with your fellow supporters. What exactly DO you love about Rangers?
