Don't think there's much truth in this story tbh. I can't see many (if any) players coming or going in January. We do need a long term replacement for Weir, but I'd assume that's why we signed Webster in the summer. I certainly don't like the idea of off-loading Boyd or Thomson to bring in a CB.
-
Burley's comments on Boyd after the game, had me saying that Boyd should tell him to GTF so I can understand why he's done this. Again today Burley's trying to worm his way out of it by questioning Boyd's attitude and commitment. I agree that there's more to this than meets the eye. Both of them are saying that it's nothing personal, but I think that's exactly what it is. I hope Boyd can be convinced to change his mind, as he's our best goal scorer by a mile, but that's only going to happen if Burley sorts out HIS apparent attitude problem with the player.

IIRC the only really dodgy decision was to extend injury time to the point where they scored their 2nd, but I wouldn't have been complaining if we'd equalized instead so... If there is any truth in the story, you've got to feel a bit sorry for Zenit as it's hardly their fault that the Russian mafia was running a betting scam. Then again, if Rangers can be punished for the behavior of the supporters
-
They won it fair and square. There might have been a couple of dodgy decisions given either way on the night but I can't honestly say we were cheated. Whether or not we should have been playing Bayern instead is another story, but I do find the timing more than a little suspect. When exactly did this story break in Spain - before or after Tuesday's CL game? Apparently arrests were made in June, but the story hits the headlines as Real Madrid are playing Zenit?. Reminds me of dirty tactics by the French media both times we played Lyon last year.
-
What kind of formation were they playing? Looks like a 3-4-3 judging by the players involved.
-
I like it The only problem is the off-chance that it could backfire - he scores a few against us and finishes top scorer ...again Then the joke would be on us. Still, it gives us something to sing in the meantime
-
Probably. As much as you might get some idiots in our support playing tit-4-tat over the Novo incident, I think most of our support don't have a problem with Strachan. We enjoy seeing him make an ar$e of himself. He's been a good character to have a laugh at and the fact that so many of the C****c support don't give him the time of day makes it all the better. We luv u Chesney

Has anyone noticed that Walter didn't once actually say that he was building a team around Boyd in the article?. IMO he was just pointing out that, as far as he was concerned, Boyd had played in the majority of games since he took over ...regardless of some fans (including Boyd himself) and the media suggesting otherwise. He also said that we are now playing in a style (4-4-2 with decent players) which is better suited to Boyd's game (not 4-5-1 with Mcculloch & Dailly), so there was now a better chance of Boyd playing in the 'bigger' games. Then he pointed out that we have plenty of other options up front. Did I miss something or is it just a case of the usual headline out of thin air p!sh from the media?.

I'm diggin' the chorus Pete :lol
-
The more we sing it the more it'll annoy them :lol
-
Why wait till then?. It would work better at other games than the OF anyway.
-
We could change 'golden sky' to 'bright blue sky' ...just to personalize it, hehe You can just see the steam coming out their ears as they're sitting listening for more 'evidence' to use against us and we come out with that

Now that the 'famine song' issue has escalated to the point of no return, our club could very well end up being fined or worse docked points if we continue down this path. A lot of supporters, not to mention our club itself, are annoyed at the way in which this issue has been dealt with at all levels be it the police, the media, the SPL or in political circles. At the end of the day we just want to enjoy a bit of banter with our rivals. So what do we do now? I suggest we steal one of their songs. Preferably the one they stole. Lets see them try and ban that !! Any other suggestions?
-
That may well be true Pete, but it still seems like our opponents are consistently more dangerous at corners than us. Who knows, maybe it's just the cringe factor and other supporters are equally worried when we get a set-piece opportunity, but all the same we do seem to waste a lot of them.

I have to admit that I find it extremely offensive to be called a hun. Orange b*stard doesn't bother me in the slightest - because that's just nonsense. I didn't even realise until recently, when my boss (C****c fan) called me a hun and even though he probably didn't mean anything by it, it really hit home. We can't allow these double standards to continue.

I suppose it depends on how the bonuses were spread out over the games. Was it the UEFA cup run alone or did the CL games also figure into the equation? Also if the bonuses were indeed irregularly high by the time we reached the UEFA semi's can you actually blame anyone? In a financial sense it may or may not have been worth it, but if we had won it then I don't think there would be any complaints. It's a little bit reckless ...almost as bad as throwing away £5m on laudrup when we were chasing 10-in-a-row, but we're talking about getting to a european final here ffs.
-
It does seem like he's way down the pecking order. We've got a large squad ATM and because of our lack of European football this season, a few of the squad players are really going to struggle to get a game. It's early days yet though, so I wouldn't read to much into it.
-
I think it's good to see Alexander getting the odd game. He's an excellent keeper to have as back-up and the only way that we'll hold on to him is if he's getting a game. While McGregor is undoubtedly the better of the two, he should be reminded that his place isn't to be taken for granted. Hopefully he'll put in the effort in training and win his place back before too long.
-
I think you're being a bit harsh on Novo there. He doesn't have the skill or strength of Davids, but I would say Novo is more the 'head down' and 'kicking at every ankle he sees' type. I can think of a few players I would describe as 'headless chicken' at times (BF being one of them) but Novo isn't one of them.
-
Despite the media reports, which suggest this has only just been brought up by Salmond in response to the issue being raised by Irish government officials following the recent OF game... I gather that the police were acting on this a good while BEFORE the issue was even brought up. John Reid et all look like they've tripped themselves up on this one.
-
A well balanced response from the club. It's good to see them making their position more clear for a change. Regardless of our opinions, it would appear to be in everyone's best interest to heed their warning.
-
I don't think ANY player should be guaranteed a place in the team. That said, if we carry on the way we've been playing, then Walter's no doubt going to have a tough decision to make. The main thing for Ferguson is not to rush his recovery. He's still probably our best player, so if he takes his time and reaches a decent level of fitness before he comes back in, then I don't think we'll mind who he replaces. It's good that we've got competition for places in midfield and I'm sure even Barry sees it that way.
