  1. Nice website Doesn't have the same comedy value as damarcusbeasley.net but have to admit I was ROTFLMAO at the Edu chant bit  I think we really could be on to a winner with Edu. Obviously he's not been in the picture as much as we would all have liked this season, but he's not half grabbed his chance when it came along. It says a lot for any player to come into the team at this time of the season and perform the way he has - especially as a replacement for one of our best players. Hopefully the knock (should I say assault) he suffered in the OF game won't effect the run of good form he's on.
  2. Well done Eck
  3. Has to be Ferguson for me. We really struggled to replace him while he was at Blackburn and I have to admit I was delighted to see him return. Although we've signed a few really good players since then, I'd say none of them were anything to get excited about at time of arrival. The likes of Cuellar, Thomson, Bougherra & Mendes all had to prove themselves worthy. As for Cannigia, imo we made a mistake letting him go. He did a really good job for us and I think we could easily have got another year out of him.
  4. I'd imagine Whittaker will be next in line for a 'red card'. No doubt for picking his nose or some other form of 'unacceptable behavior'.
  5. Big Marv would (probably even now) have scored more goals than KM in an attacking role :fish:
  6. One thing which came to my attention in a recent press article (funnily enough regarding a 'Gers target') was the rule regarding under 18's in Italian football. Apparently teams in Italy can't tie an under 18 to a contract. You would think that given the ties which Rangers have (especially through WS) that we would have been taking advantage of this loophole. We might struggle to tempt the cream of South American talent to these shores, but Italy are after all reigning world champions. Just a thought
  7. Another classic piece of unbiased journalism from Mr English: Tom English: The ned in him brought him to the edge but it was his own waning ability to influence football matches that did for him Well you can be sure the mhedia would have 'managed it differently, eh Tom?
  8. The way they're being treated by the nhation they might as well have committed murder. Yes, I agree it was childish and stupid. Still the fact remains that the punishment doesn't fit the crime. I suppose my opinion just isn't biased by jealousy over the size of their salary.
  9. After months of moaning about the mock offense caused by some of our songs, not to mention the criticism levelled at the club for not defending us in these issues, here we are acting like we've been mortally wounded by a subtle two finger salute and praising the club for the (harsh) punishment it's handed out. Hypocrisy of the highest order imo.
  10. What about our new captain? How good a role model was he when he was sent off for trying to strangle a player in that OF game last season? We all do stupid things in the heat of the moment sometimes. Besides, who really gives a f**k about role models? We look back on players like Ricksen and Gazza who both disgraced our club on a regular basis with their off the field antics and we mostly remember what they brought to the game. We don't need role models. What we do need is the league title and to bin two of our best players at this stage of the campaign is about as stupid as what Bazza & Shagger just did.
  11. This is ridiculous The media coverage of the 'Boozegate' incident was way OTT, but this? This is beyond a joke. If the players were guilty of misconduct they should have been sent home, but instead they were hung out to dry. Let's not kid ourselves - Burley might not be the brightest of sparks but he knew fine well what he was doing when he stuck them on the bench. I also doubt very much that the players made those gestures to the press. Apparently the shots were taken before kick-off ...probably while they were being booed by thirty odd thousand Scotland 'supporters' and it wouldn't surprise me in the least if the gesture was in response to provocation from a nearby shower of MOPES. I'm not condoning their actions, but many a player or manager has made more of a fool of himself when backed into less of a corner - you can be damn sure Burley would. The Scotland ban issue aside, I really don't see why Rangers had to punish the players further. They weren't representing Rangers after all. Would Bougherra, Mendes, Davis or Lafferty get suspended by the club if they did something similar on international duty? I don't think so. Stripped of the captaincy? That seems very harsh. I sincerely hope the speculation (and that's all it is so far) that their Rangers days are over doesn't turn out to be true as despite their deficiencies they are the quality of player we'll struggle to replace. On that note, I do find it strange that WS didn't think it was necessary to tell the other players about the situation - especially Davie Weir who must have been caught like a rabbit in the headlights as he was told he was taking over the captaincy by the mhedia hordes tonight. Very bizarre.
  12. From those I've watched: __________________Goram____________________ Hutton______Cuellar________Gough_______Numan Cooper_______Bazza________Gazza__________Gio _________Laudrup_____________McCoist________ Subs: Klos, F.DeBoer, Albertz, Caniggia, Prso, Hateley
  13. From BBC website: 1835: GOAL Northern Ireland 3-1 Poland Absolute comedy goal, unless you are Poland keeper Artur Boruc. Michal Zewlakow knocks a backpass from 30 yards along the ground towards his keeper. Boruc tries to belt the ball up-field but it bobbles over his foot and into the net. Oops.
  14. CL edges it for me, but just because I'd normally put club before country doesn't mean I've got no time for the National side. Anything else (including UEFA cup) and I'd go for the WC instead.
  15. Usual rumour-mill websites so far. Seems like agent (same one as Arshavin) is just touting him for a move to Britain. Haven't seen any quotes mentioning Rangers though, so atm it looks like pure speculation. Would be a good move though, especially if we offload one or two strikers in the Summer .
  16. Disappointing to see another of the better Murray Park graduates leave for free. Can't understand why he hasn't been given a chance. WS obviously rated him before, as he gave him a call-up for Scotland only for him to be ruled out through injury. He was also first choice under WS for Rangers ...until his injury. IIRC his last game before the 'injury' was the OF game where he had a nightmare, having been left on the park after picking up a knock. Maybe a falling out with the management? Or maybe just too many Stevies in the squad? :fish:
  17. Very true. If Fleck & Aaron had been given more than a handful of games between them, both would be more deserving of the award imo, as Lafferty has been really poor in the majority of games he's played. When you look at it that way it's a tough decision. Think I'll change my vote to Fleck
  18. 24 year old Dynamo Kyiv striker Artem Milevskiy is being linked with Spurs, Villa & Rangers. Can remember at the time PLG took over, he was the player of the tournament at U-21 Euro Finals. Hasn't got too impressive a strike rate for DK, but looked very promising as a youngster. If it's true Spurs & Villa are interested, we don't stand a chance though.
  19. Based on number of MOTM awards won so far, it's probably between Mendes and Davis for Player of the Year. Although I don't agree with much of the criticism those two have been receiving lately, I'd still go for Bougherra and Lafferty for the 2 awards.
  20. Thought Davis had a good game for 1st hour. After that I can probably understand him abandoning his post to come in field, as he (not to mention the rest of the midfield) wasn't being utilised as we launched more and more long 50/50 balls in Boyds direction. Hit and hope football at it's worst . It's simply bizarre that when the smallest man on the park replaced Lafferty we decided to resort to this 'tactic'. I have my doubts that the players were instructed to play like that - It looked like more a case of panic stations than anything else after Hearts scored - but if so, then it's still down to the management to tell them to f***ing cut it out and keep the ball on the deck . Good 1st half performance, but just not good enough overall and apart from Lafferty (who once again managed to avoid the f**k-up period of the game), I can't think of many who would get pass marks.
  21. No surprises to read an article like this from Traynor. He's been going on - like the trained parrot he is - about how over-rated Ferguson is for years. Every other week on his phone-in, he manages to squeeze in a comment or two on the subject. That said, it's becoming increasingly difficult to disagree with him. There's no denying that Ferguson is a mere shadow of his former self. None of us would be bothered by Barry moaning and barking his way through 90 minutes, if he was reaching anywhere near the sort of form he showed prior to his move down south. He was a massive influence on the team back then and I suppose he still is. The problem is that a lot of the positive influence has turned negative. Since returning to Rangers, Ferguson has only shown brief glimpses of the player we all loved. Much of that can be put down to playing through injury, but that in itself has gone a long way towards our failures in recent years. Should he be dropped? I can definitely see the potential benefits, although the risk of dressing room rifts as a result of such a move is one cause for concern. You can be sure that Barry wouldn't be a happy chap. Do I think he WILL be benched? No. Only injury or transfer will see Ferguson drop out of the picture. With that in mind, I really hope that at least between now and the end of the season, Barry can reach top form and lift the SPL trophy - or get's injured and we do it without him. Either one will do for me.
  22. IMO Davis, Mendes & Bougherra are our 3 candidates for Player of the Year. I wonder how Davis has managed to win so many MOTM awards if he hasn't kicked a ball. As for Mendes, 1 good game in 10? Probably doesn't warrant a response.
  23. Miller - minus 4 out of 10. Aye that's about right.
  24. Thought Boyd should have come on for Mcculloch as Lafferty was having a good game. Dailly shouldn't even have been on the bench. Novo did well considering his obvious lack of match fitness an should probably have been introduced earlier as Miller was by far the worst player on the park. Despite not getting much in the way of service, any time he did get a shooting opportunity he either fell over the ball or looked to pass it back - Shocking performance. Mendes, Davis and Ferguson all played below their usual standard. The best contribution Ferguson made was his track side shove on Lennon which would have been funnier if the scoreline wasn't as depressing. I'm absolutely gutted, but hopefully this will put a bit of fight into our performances for the remainder of the season.
