As for chairman (and the rest of the board while we're at it) I REALLY WOULD trust their judgement on that one. I would understand if both Walter Smith and McColl declined a place on the board. These guys only want what's best for the club and as much as McColl would be my own preference for chairman I'm sure that the collective thinking in that group would surprise us all with a good alternative.
-
Neither. I'd opt for McColl who's a Rangers man with business experience. There's a reason why Smith has backed him. It's because he always has been the best man for the job whether he wants it or not.
-
Of course not. I'm just saying that we don't need to stoop to their level in our response. The likes of O'Rourke is clearly lacking in intellect. Use that against them instead of like for like.
-
True, but a well measured, dignified and diplomatic response doesn't have to be lacking in weight. If anything it can show the opposition in a befitting light. Just because O'Rourke 'gets away with it' doesn't make him any less of a disgrace and also doesn't demand a tit-for-tat response.
-
Agreed, but I don't think our response to attacks and antagonism is always best served by being channeled through our fans rep.
-
Apart from being calm and collected in situations like Chris has demonstrated - I'm not one for violence but I would have been struggling to string a sentence together in response to some of the comments from the likes of Speirs and English through the restrained aggression - I think Chris showed a general insight into the fans thoughts on our situation that was very well balanced. Nothing personal against the likes of MD but to be blunt I think he's too caught up in his own agenda and to take him as an example I think that comes across when he speaks on the fans behalf.
-
Can't argue with the OP. You've done us proud Chris ...something that appears elusive to most of those who've tried.
-
Just like there's better players out there. We can't afford those either. I'll tell you what though, I'd rather have Ally McCoist at the helm of our Newco than just about any of them. If we lost him, I can almost guarantee the alternative would be no better AND he'd be starting with a good bit less squad wise.

For the record I don't have too much of a problem with the Green consortium so far. A few niggles here and there with Mr McDonald and his senile dribblings being one of them. If Walter backed by McColl et all manage to take control of the club, I'm not going to deny that my mind would be more at ease. If it doesn't happen then we just have to hope for the best. I can see potential in Green's plan, or at least the gist of it so far, but lets face it, Green and his consortium aren't in it for the good of the club. We just have to hope that the good health of the club is what best serves their interest.

When Murray was running the club, Walter and his team were winning trophies for fun. That's what they were doing ...idiot.

from the Daily Fail.... Put Up or Shut Up? Right back at you Mike. You put up and shut up you gibbering fool!!!

A little quote from Alex Thomson latest cringeworthy attempt at journalism was possibly telling on HMRCCSC's stance.
-
I'm not sure if he deserves it, but to be fair, Green did say Deloitte had consulted with HMRC on his behalf, but that he hadn't spoken to HMRC personally.
-
All I'm seeing so far is confirmation from Green that his chat with Ally today was 'productive'. Ally's now returned to his family on holiday. Really hope he does stay with us. Last year in his first season in charge, Ally gave McCabe and Perry a number of first team starts, while also bringing through the likes of Mitchell, Hegarty & McKay towards the end of the season. Fleck was given some game time before being loaned out in the hope he would get more. Ness and Hemmings would have featured more if they hadn't been injured as would Wylde & Celik if they hadn't done a runner. Similar though not the same could be said for Bendiksen. Added to that list we had Aluko - 22. Bartley - 20 & Little - 22. McCoist regularly fielded a starting line-up with an average age under 26. Of course it could be argued that because of our lack of strength in depth and due to our circumstances of possibly losing players that more youngsters were given opportuinities, but equally it could be argued that with the stress of the clubs situation it wasn't exactly the best time to be giving youth a chance. Either way, I don't see any evidence that McCoist is against bringing through youngsters. As for developing them, he's only had one season so far and apart from the fact that technically youth development isn't his job, I don't think it's fair to be judging him harshly based on that season.

Have to agree. Also this humble acceptance, especially from those in charge at the club, that 'we must be punished' has to stop. If we are to defend ourselves we need to start sticking up for ourselves. We've already been punished up to the point of no return and cannot allow those who wish to completely destroy the club to succeed.

Looking at their website they do seem to have their paws in a variety of sectors. Some of the names did look strangely familiar when I was looking at completed transactions earlier, but didn't see any mention of football related business. Possibly doesn't go back that far mind you. On a side note... Is it just me or does our new financial director look like he's just stepped off the set of Mad Men?

It was an up and down sort of interview. His comments regarding the guys from Zeus Capital (even though he tried to hide the plural) seem to suggest they've been brought in on his recommendation. That coupled with a previous 25% shareholding in Man Utd (was that his shareholding BTW?) which also was linked to Zeus via flotation, indicates that he could be the puppet master as opposed to the puppet
-
Also, to respond to your question regarding his stance on Ally McCoist: 1. He named Stein as his idol... "Not Ally McCoist" 2. He then said no nonsense would be tolerated from his staff - I would assume with regards to McCoist backing Smith. 3. When directly questioned about McCoist he said he knew Ally and referred to him as "unreliable" before going on to say how he had been trying (without success) to get a hold of him. Not looking good at all.
-
....And despite being very 'knowing and trusting' of Zeus Capital, much like Green, he was strangely disguised in his mention of them as if only Ahmad was being appointed to the board on their behalf. I was willing to sit on the fence and give the Green consortium the benefit of the doubt, but now that our new 'bluenose chairman' has had his say I have to admit something doesn't quite sit right here. Can one of our trusted members please put my mind at ease and vouch for this guy Murray?
-
Personally, I think Zeus Capital's role is purely an advisory one. So far two of them have been named on the board, but I don't think either will have or be representing much if any shareholding of their company. Way I see it, their role is simply to protect the investors interests and facilitate the flotation
-
Maybe the sale to the Newco needed to be confirmed first. One thing's for sure - They can't have been investing very much or else I don't think time zones would have got in the way.
-
I find it hard to believe that following HRMC's decision and our likely Newco scenario that Green wouldn't have consulted with those investors he named today to be given the go-ahead to do so. Rather convenient that Mr Hart claims to have always been backing DP.
-
For the same reason that Whytes not showed his face around Ibrox for a while?
-
That depends if Hart wrote them a cheque. Whether he considers himself part of the consortium or not, I'm pretty sure it would have been cashed by now.

The most frustrating thing from my viewpoint is that I think we could have actually achieved the CVA. Despite, HMRC announcing their opposition I think if the CVA proposal had been improved significantly then HMRC could have been persuaded to vote in favor today. It's even possible that the WS group could have gained close to a majority shareholding in the process, had they approached Green instead of attempting to hijack the bid. They might even, had they offered enough in those type of negotiations, been able to stake a claim to a newco if it failed. Opportunity missed and yet again it's the fans that suffer for it.
