One of the players I was most disappointed to hear we'd lost. Even though he was out of contract we did have an option to extend, but I wouldn't hold it against him if he did object to that being transferred across. If we do end up in a division where we can make him an offer, it should be a good one as he's worth it.

Di Stefano recommended us as a purchase months ago, but his backers aren't interested in Scottish football and who can blame them? With a chance, even if it takes time, of playing in one of Europe's top leagues, Rangers are worth a lot of money. Right now, stuck in the Scottish leagues, we're simply not a sound investment.

It's impossible to pick a single quote from this supporters statement that makes any sense so I've done the opposite. What the hell do they think in this whole process has been done for the benefit of Rangers? Do these deluded fools actually think that Rangers have had ANY control whatsoever over these proceedings? Apparently they do. They think that big bad Rangers and their TV exec cohorts are the problem here. That's got to be one of the most fucking moronic official statements from any club or support in this whole farce so far.

It would appear that TBK's et all figured that their worth was in that ball park whether you like it or not Bomber.

Sorry, but no matter how retarded they make the posters appear, I don't get the humour.

I'd like to think that Smith would have done a far better job of handling this situation than Regan had he still been SFA chief exec. That said it's strange when you think back and remember just how much George Peat interfered. Unfortunate that Ogilvie isn't able to do likewise with Regan full stop nevermind our situation where he's got EBT / conflict of interest as an excuse.

Have you only just noticed this? Try having a look back through every other Rangers related press article (it's not just the Scotsman site) back to February and you'll see the comments from our own fans have been consistently in the vast minority. It's been clear as day for all to see just how fanatical and twisted this mob are. Seems to be a full-time job for a number of them.

It's the honorable thing to do. To EPL clubs, the money involved is pocket change. Coventry came to an agreement with the club for Fleck despite the fact that they're not rolling in money. Of course in that instance (and indeed the the same would apply to the likes of Ness and McCabe) we developed the player and TUPE issues asside, could argue that we were due compensation.

I think that was before the financial crisis when their banks would have been happy to throw money at them should Rangers AND Celtic jump ship leaving them all with a reasonably equal opportunity of winning titles. I thought at the time and still do think that the SPL would be better off in terms of competition without the OF. It would likely cause financial meltdown if it were to happen at this point in time though.

He's trying to get Rangers into the English Leagues. If he manages it, he and his backers would purchase the oldco (plus you would assume the assets of the newco) and settle debts. Why's he left it so late? Could be related to the pending transfer of SFA membership and replacement of Rangers in SPL. I think the guys a bit of a nut job and has plenty previous of making outlandish claims, but leave him to it. If he did pull it off he'd be an absolute legend.

So he's suggesting that his investors would be interested in purchasing The Rangers Football Club PLC if it's given the nod to move to English FA. Considering that he was touting us to various parties in the middle east from square one, he's left this a bit late has he not?

Rangers members of the English FA ... a wee while back
UCF2008 replied to der Berliner's topic in Rangers Chat
We're not SFA members atm. While we're without a league, we could always seek political asylum from UEFA and the English FA on grounds of sectarian difficulties. Derry City used that excuse to move from the Irish League to the League of Ireland. -
Probably depends if he gets decent offer to move elsewhere I suppose. Last I heard, he and Boca were still thinking it over and Goian's agent has said he would be willing to stay so long as we don't drop below Div1.

Rangers members of the English FA ... a wee while back
UCF2008 replied to der Berliner's topic in Rangers Chat
Even if they did, we would have had to have resigned from the SFA following a (3yr I believe) period of notice. Also IIRC when moving to England has been discussed, we would have had to get permission from the other SPL clubs and UEFA to make the move. Most importantly we would have to be accepted into the FA league structure. That's a lot of hurdles ...less now of course. -
Deluded bigoted scum.

As much as we're all hurting and want to strike back at them all given half a chance, I really think that we shouldn't be lowering ourselves to that level. Our club prides itself on it's magnificent away support and intimidating clubs with threats of boycotts is beneath us, not to mention counterproductive. Don't get me wrong, there's one or two of them that really do deserve at least one boycott to make a point, but as we approach the SFL vote we should be leaving that sort of behavior to the Mhanks and if anything we should be doing the opposite. We should be assuring clubs and their supporters that no matter which way they vote they can be expecting a good crowd.

Rangers is NOT a liquidated club.

What are the rules for signing players in the lower divisions?
UCF2008 replied to Bears's topic in Rangers Chat
Unless you're meaning non league sides in Scotland or those below conference level in England then I think it's the same transfer window. -
My mistake, yes. It's actually worse than I thought in terms of the number of teams that could be pissed off. 1st place teams are automatically promoted. In the SFL1 & 2 the bottom team is automatically relegated while 9th placed team goes into a playoff with 2nd 3rd and 4th placed teams from the division below. That makes potentially about 12 teams if I'm not mistaken that could be bickering about the extra promotion & relegation spots between all 4 Scottish Divisions should we enter at Div3. Anyone remember how they figured that one out when Livi were relegated to Div3?
-
Earlier in this thread I mentioned the knock on effect of relegation / promotion places due to the void created in the SPL and hence the 1st division. The way I see it, there's only two fair options on that front. Give us the 1st division slot and have no relegation from the SPL this season or enter us at 3rd division and have no relegation from any division. It would mean that Dunfermline avoid relegation and given their stance against us in recent weeks, I wouldn't personally want to do them any favors. However creating an additional promotion spot through the leagues after the fact is wrong.

Like I said before and you appear to agree, we're a new company, but not a new club. Our club (not company) was a founder of the Scottish Football League. We shouldn't be treated as a new club and shouldn't have to apply to be instated as such. If the SFL decide that we've breached their insolvency rules (despite not being an SFL club at the time) and choose to relegate us to Div3 then that's completely different. Please don't give into this propeganda we're being fed that the club is a new club

The way I see it, having the right players and level of team work off the pitch is just as important as those on the field of play. That's one of the main reservations I've always had about fan ownership. In our current situation I think it's at huge risk of being a recipe for disaster. We need to have focused objectives and a level of insight into what's required to rebuild that goes way beyond results on the park if we're to come back from this stronger. While I have my doubts about the current owners being capable of delivering what's required, I quite frankly find the idea of Brown fronting a fan ownership model horrifying.

Also founded in 1872. Obviously we would have to wait until after the SFL vote. Wouldn't want to be seen as prejudicing it in any way, but it could be a good way to start healing wounds and taking into account higher numbers of visiting supporters than Le Havre, I think it could get a decent turnout.

Agreed. It's a good idea. I vote for Dumbarton.
