  1. With regards to the article. I got bored after the first couple of sentences as I normally do with the convoluted scribblings of Mr Gibbons. I didn't read it all.
  2. The next words I want to hear from hear from him on the subject is 'We've been invited to join the english leagues and accepted. Leave the threats of court action a last resort. I agree about wanting to hear about done deals though. No more moonbeams please Charles.
  3. You're not seriously suggesting we won't be back in the top flight by year 4 are you?
  4. Sandaza has had about the same number of decent performances as he's scored goals so far - two. Two goals out of Nineteen appearances, even though six of them were as a sub, is unacceptable for a Rangers striker. Especially at this level. Even Kyle had a far better goal to game ratio. If we play Hemmings instead over the next seven games I wouldn't bet against him having a more impressive season for us than Sandaza.
  5. I'd hazard a guess at Shiels, Black and Templeton maybe averaging around £7k p/wk over the course of their deals. Youngsters will be on a good bit less I would think.
  6. Speaking of Kyle, it's maybe worth pointing out that it's less than a week since, no sooner out the door, big 'honest' Kev tells us all exactly what it cost Rangers to have him at the club. That's 85k divided by around 30 weeks = less than 3k a week for a senior player on a 1 year deal.
  7. How's that? Because he allowed everyone to carry on thinking we were paying these SPL players like Kyle and Sandaza £7k a week in DIV3 and it turns out to be a lot less?
  8. It's a title winners medal which in years to come will no doubt take pride of place alongside greater achievements, but it will be significant as it will symbolise the start of both his and the club's journey from rock bottom to their rightful place at the top.
  9. Players shouldn't be discussing their confidential contractual details with anyone behind the clubs back. It means nothing to most of us, but at the end of the day it is a breach of SFA and club regulations. Let Tommy and his pals give themselves a pat on the back. They've maybe done us a favour.
  10. I think, like the journo you're putting words in the lads mouth GA. He's 18 years old and it's his first title win. He's proud of what is a unique achievement at the club and although some fans might take it for granted and want to move on and forget it ever happened, he's entitled to enjoy it and look back on it with pride.
  11. McKay didn't even mention the word 'hero'. The journo did.
  12. The Offensive Behaviour bill won't be repealed.
  13. Yet again, Green made to look foolish by name dropping someone who he claims is giving us support. In fairness though the Stranraer chairman might well have been supportive up until the board got wind of it and pointed out that with them sitting 3rd bottom in DIV2 they'd miss out on the cash cow. Hence the reason we've got Mr Vice Chairman mouthing off to STV. “We are trying to change for the good of Scottish football and you are not going to please everyone. “We discussed the matter as a board but leapfrogging us wouldn’t be the way forward.” ....for Stranraer and their 17 pals.
  14. Last I heard, Gordon was having to learn to walk again in an attempt to save his career.
  15. And that's just if we win the title. Imagine what it'll be like if we have to wait another week
  16. So you'd prefer another Cribari if we had a better option available who just happened to be playing as a striker at his last club? What about Cuellar. If he hadn't played for us before a lot of fans would probably be complaining he's a full-back and not a proper CH. Personally, I'd keep Jig in defence for now. What's your opinion on that?
  17. He doesn't have an agent. I agree it's a lot of fuss over nothing. From the clubs perspective though it can't be seen to condone or ignore this type of thing as to do so could leave other players open to approach. Genuine or otherwise. Not to mention the risk of disciplinary action from the SFA which no doubt some of Tommy's fellow mischief makers will be exploring as an option.
  18. That and the whole time Burley was in charge was indeed a low point.
  19. I'm not suggesting we bring in a utility player. Just the best player for the role he's brought in to play. I couldn't care less what role he's been playing for his previous club/s. Normally for instance if you're looking for a CH you would obviously look at available CH's first. However if you're looking for certain attributes in a player to fix a deficiency in the team (ie. no leaderhsip at the back / trouble dealing with crosses / poor distribution) then you might need to look at all the options available to find the best solution.
  20. STV - Stranraer vice-chairman: No precedent for Rangers in my club's promotion By Scott McClymont 21 March 2013 12:21 GMT Stranraer vice-chairman Iain Dougan does not believe his club have set a precedent for Rangers and the Scottish Football League to follow for promotion should league reconstruction go ahead. The Stair Park side finished top of the third tier in 1993/94, the last season before the Scottish Football League expanded from three divisions to four. Stranraer were then promoted to the second level, therefore moving up one division, with five clubs being relegated from above as part of plans agreed prior to the start of the campaign. Under proposals to move to a 12-12-18 system, Rangers manager Ally McCoist claimed on Thursday that the Ibrox club would not be promoted and should instead be elevated to the second league of 12. McCoist said: â??I donâ??t think that is fair, especially when a precedent has been set. Stranraer won the bottom tier in 1994 and were promoted two divisions due to reconstruction.â? However Stranraer vice-chairman Iain Dougan disagrees his clubâ??s example sets the standard for others to follow. He told STV: â??We donâ??t feel it is the same situation as [in 1993/94]. We were expanding the leagues from three to four divisions, this time weâ??re slimming the leagues. It is not the same scenario. â??I can see where their [Rangers] supporters are coming from and Mr Green has to do what is best for his football club. â??In theory [in a league of 18] they are not moving any quicker to the SPL, they will still be two years away. â??We are trying to change for the good of Scottish football and you are not going to please everyone. â??We discussed the matter as a board but leapfrogging us wouldnâ??t be the way forward.â? On Monday, Rangers chief executive Charles Green said he had the backing from the Blues. He told Rangersâ?? official website: "There is already a precedent for this situation, established by the SFL at the end of the 1993-94 season when Stranraer, winners of the lowest of three divisions, were promoted to the new second tier on the basis they were champions of their division and merited promotion. â??Indeed, recently the chairman of Stranraer FC referred to the matter and supported the prospect of Rangers being promoted in the event of a 12-12-18 outcome. â??There has been no shortage of voices banging on about sporting integrity over the last year but sporting integrity must cut both ways. Should that be observed during reconstruction discussions then significant benefits would delivered, particularly to clubs in the middle tier who have yet to reap any financial benefit from Rangers playing in lower divisions.â?
  21. At the time when we brought Walter & Ally back to Rangers, I was gutted because both my teams were losing a manager who I wanted to keep. I guess that's a reminder for how much the National team means to me.
  22. Page 3 of this threads got an article in The Sun with him admitting it.
  23. It goes without saying that any player picked to play CH should first and foremost know how to defend. That doesn't mean they have to be a defender though. I think we get too hung up on this notion that a footballer learns to play one position and should only be used there. Both Dailly and Weir were strikers when they were younger.
  24. Dailly was a decent player. His time with us was bit-part but he had a good career down south. Even won Charlton POTY season after he left us. We could do a lot worse than find a similar type to him.
  25. I think he said he's on less than half that now. Then £6.5k next season. If he doesn't improve I doubt if he'll still be around the club nevermind the squad by the 4th year of his deal when he would be getting £10k a week
