What the hell does iirc mean , I hate to show my ignorance but then again !!!!!

I can always remember european campaigns towards the end being abject failures and usually totally embarressing , however we always managed to beat a poor septic team and everyone used to go away happy,NIAR for all the plaudits was I believe a massive burden on Walter and the players . Advocatt's first two years were fantastic and I remember the orange cup final as probably my highest point as a supporter , I honestly believed we were going to kick on and really achieve something , oh how that bubble was burst. The other magical thing that day was walking from the Jeannie in Shawlands with the " Brothers in Blue" flag stretched right across the whole road all the way from Shawlands cross to Hampden absolutely magic , ahhhh happy days ,before annual reports and profit and loss became more imortant than the football

point taken ,in fact point vey well made .

Is it really such a big surprise that there is such a massive interest in this, as it is probably the biggest single issue to have effected us for a decade , we have been up for sale for 4 years , we have for the last 10 years been constantly told we are skint and now we potentially have someone ready to take over the running of the club and removing the hated debt that has bee hanging over our heads like the plague . Balance that against the fact we know hee haw about him , his consortium ( if there is one ) and what his plans actually are . Everytime we have seen a chink of light , getting the debt down to approx £5.6 million, the UEFA cup run , it has been ruined very very quickly by losing millions the next year ( due to players bonuses or so we are led to believe ) or by the mindless minority ruining Manchester , we have had a constant battle keeping our chin's up and battling on.We even have the constant prospect of our best players being poached not by EPL clubs but by Championship clubs , and only replaced by bargain's , bosman's or very poor loan signings. What amazes me is the amount of fans who seem to actually revel in the doom and gloom , never happier than when something doesn't go to plan . The guys who post about potential targets and get it wrong get away with it because another rumour comes along very quickly , however this time with the takeover they appear to be easy meat , and some seems to take great pleasure from sticking the boot in . We seem to caught between a rock and a hard place , either dont post anything that could in any way prove false or else post things that you hear about , whether via the media , friends , players or club officials , it seems we are damned if we do and damned if we dont , but the minority seem to taking the moral high ground whilst contributing the square root of hee haw .

Cheers mate , just read it , cannot argue with what he wrote , far too many are far too far up themselves at times .

I can fully understand your viewpoint and to be fair to you it's one that you have been consistent on for as long as i have been on this site , however the one thing I have found over time is that certain posters by their own track record deserve a little credit from posting consistintely and from not posting drivel , therefore from my own point of view I am the type of person to give a bit of latitude especially when it's about something as important as this .Now this may be a flaw in my character , it probably is to be honest , however at the end of the day these are internet sites and until the person is actually standing holding a Rangers strip , or is declared the new owner I will always be slightly sceptical , now that may be adaft way to be but that's just the way I am , on here I always try to be as optomistic as I can even when faced with little evidence , in the same way I believe In will win the lottery every week . Chilled bear , it was explained by one of the posters who originally posted about Ellis , people on FF were going mental about there being no announcement by the club and he came on and tried to explain what was going to happpen this weekend , in his opinion and the opinion of the person he knew inside the club , hope that helps. The internet is no different to any other area of life. People want to build reputations for themselves Fling Hippo , that bit I dont really agree with ,as what difference does it reaslly make if you dont know any of the other posters personally , I could sit at a game only a few seats away from any of you ( if I renewed ) but no one would know , so does it really matter if you have a percieved reputation in cyber space , where you are judger is real life in real situations where decisions you make make a material difference , not in a pretend world trying to wind people up or argue with people . I have learned more about Rangers from coming on sites such as this and not being afraid to either ask or appologise if I either didn't know something or else when I have made an arse of myself , but the idea of just coming on to post rubbish to wind people up is just foreign to me . As with any such thread, i've given this one a wide berth as i'm of the old fashioned belief that being a supporter is about supporting the players, not thinking you're owed a say in club politics As for that part , I to my eternal shame felt the same till the mid to late nineties until I realised we were getting run into the ground and turned against Murray , if more supporteres had taken their head out of the sands and protestesd against Murray earlier we might not be in this mess . And before the blame gets thrown at Advocatt , just remember Murray signed the cheques and some , such as that disaster Hendry , Advocatt had no knowledge of.

Before I post this please everyone realise this is only my understanding as explained to me . Certain meetings were taking place at Narsa this weekend , Ellis is there for a start , and these meetings were to rubber stamp the deal , I dont know if it was with AJ ,Smith and Greig etc but that is my understanding. At no time has it ever been announced that the club would make a statement re-the takeoever this weekend , this was just about the information that certain posters who have contacts inside the club have passed on the the rest of the fans ..You can take this either way , but IMHO these guys are not posting to make themselves look big , or more important , they are just passing on info that they feel is to the benefit of everyone . Now this post as with others will be greeted by the usual comments from the usual poster, but as whosthedado has put it so well , we are all meant to be Rangers fans and have the best interests of the club at heart , and again I dont know if Ellis is the real deal , in fact I dont know if he is even real but thats for others to make their minds up , one thing I am certain of is that the sooner we are away from Murray the better . At least on this forum we can safely post in the knowledge that it is free from abuse and threats , though certains cretins do reside , however the abuse and threats that have been made against posters on other sites is verging on Timmy behaviour . Believe what you will , but as far as this bear is concerned it will always be Rangers First :spl:

Lennon hasn't taken long to start laying down the law and throwing his dummy oot the pram , he is furious that lawell has went behind his back and is trying to appoint Baxter as Football Director/security blanket should the lurgan bigot fail to work out , interesting few days ahead
-
It's ok Frankie i have just discovered how to use the ignore function , and as for all being on the same side .I doubt that very much
-
These are fans forums , Rangers fans forums , why you continue to lurk about is beyond me , you believe what you want to believe ,you agree with what you want to agree with and vice versa . You quote "sources" when it suits your arguement even though they tend to be old newspaper articles . As for your attempt to stir it the other night , which was possibly the most pathetice thing I have ever witnessed , all you achieved was outing yourself as a total idiot .
-
What's up silverspurs did no one take you up on your attempts at winding folk up over on FF and you have to come back on here
-
Bang on however there has been a major fallout in paradise as Lawell is trying to force Baxter onto lennon as security in case Lennon doesn't work out , watch this space
-
It had been valued 6-8 months earlier at £90 million and that was also before the 5year full leasing contract was signed , he accepted just under £70 million , though I cannot remember the exact spin that was put upon it at the time
-
The excellent posts by UCB and Calscot as well as some of the answers the have managed to bring out into this debate all mention timing and Murrays possible inability to raise he necessary funds to possibly cash in on any regeneration . Well can I just reming everyone that only a few months ago he sold his prime real estate development in Bothwell Street in a deal over £ 20 million less than it was valued at , and also considering it was fully let on a 5 year lease only shows how strapped he was/is .
-
I honestly believe that the press are just doing the usual and throwing the old names back around again , Walter is far too aware that we haven't made a significant signing in three transfer windows , and I believe possibly more through hope than any other reason that he will pull something out of left field again . I dont think the squad reports back till the 23rd 24th of this month so we will just have to endure the speculation plus the players being linked with them do not really worry me too much , in fact it's no wonder that mob are getting twitchy
-
great , just looked what happened the last ime you went away
-
Just so I am certain about your point craig , if we had any of these debts/mortages on any asset it would show up on our accounts and be included in our debt position , correct or am I missing something here

The problem was both of the Old Firm refused to increasethe payements that other clubs would recieve for their young players if we signed them . Now that in itself is only a small part of the whole ridiculous system , but what was and in some cases is still happening is that if club A wants to sign a goalie for example, they are actually signing the whole team and then a few weeks later releasing the remainder of the team/squad . This in turn was leaving young players without clubs as they were being released after the league's had began and the teams couldn't get re-registered . It sounds and it is crazy but that is what was happening , I have to say dundee Utd were amongst the worst . At slightly older ages the compensation was meant to be about £40,000 approx , but I cant remember if that was actually ratified

To be honest I really like Bullard , always have but as per usual the fees/wages are absolutely ridiculous and totally beyond rational thinking
-
Prime example of what I am talking about , Negri lasted a few months before a squash ball finished him Allegedly , Erik Bo dont go there , Salenko same as before short term again . He was very very lucky that he inherited Ally and big mark
-
He has a brilliant record on Goalies and Center halves , unfortunately he couldn't hit a coos arse with a banjo when it comes to buying strikers . In fact I dont think he has ever signed one that lasts , Laudrup was not a striker IMHO though I may give him that one

On top of that, where is the logic on championing the idea that he will be an ego lead individual while saying he will allow a club with millions of fans go to wrack and ruin? I have to agree 100% with that comment and if he was that type I believe he would be looking at the over priced , heavily indebted clubs in the EPL or even the championship that are all waiting for new multi milionaires to throw money at them, and their over paid prima donna's . If we take a step back and try and remove our emotional attatchment to the club , for what is being asked or rather the alleged asking price of £33 million , you get a 5 star stadium , a near 100% capacity crowd every 2nd week , a near stick on guarantee into europe ( whether Europa League or C/L ) every season , and again an almost certain degree of success given limited investment in a squad already paired down to the bones but carrying very little fat and primed for strengthening . If this guy has any idea of what he is doing then the sky could be the limit , however again I have to ask why Murray cannot see this potential , surely boredom hasn't dulled his legendary business brain (joking not)
