  1. A very tough start and finish to the group for us with a home tie against the top seeds, followed by the double header with Brondby which surely must produce 6 points to give us a chance to progress followed by the reverse fixtures finishing in Lyon where it will be tough if we still need anything to qualify. 16 Sep Lyon (H) 8.00pm 30 Sep Sparta (A) 5.45pm 21 Oct Brondby (H) 8.00pm 4 Nov Brondby (A) 5.45pm 25 Nov Sparta (H) 8.00pm 9 Dec Lyon (A) 5.45pm It is good that all our home games are 8pm kick offs that gives our fans time to get to the ground without too much traffic and time issues, and the early kick offs in the away ties mean that if away fans are allowed that a wee day trip wont result in a middle of the night return!
  2. Aribo and Helander well ahead of the rest, gone for Aribo this time.
  3. Thank you sir, however i must object to being classified in any category with TLB. I'm off for a shower and bleaching down and hopefully that will cleanse me from this post!
  4. ok so excuse my complete incompetence here, but is that the Prague team with the racist scumbag in it that abused Kamara or is it the other Prague team? Can never get them the right way around!
  5. As always there are going to be tougher draws and easier draws, but with the top 3 all guaranteed post-Xmas matches, we have to be confident that no matter who we draw we will not be huge underdogs to progress somewhere, and if we can repeat our feat of last season and win our group, we get a bye from the last 32 games and go straight to the last 16, which would be a huge bonus and add to our reputation and profile.
  6. Will be a very interesting line-up. The positive performances of Bassey, Hagi & Wright against the pars combined with below average performances in the previous games from (amongst others) Borna and Kent gives the manager some very tricky decisions that we simply cannot afford to get wrong. I admit I have no idea what level our opponent are at, is this pub-team demolition or gritty well-organised and a troublesome tie? Failure to proceed is unthinkable so we simply have to win and win well tonight, to ensure we can save anyone we need to in advance of a massive OF game against the best side ever in the history of Scottish football and a £100M worth lethal Jap who Barca would love to have but cant afford.

  8. Hagi for me, top class performance. Bassey, Roofe, Wright, Aribo not far behind.
  9. Sakala is out mate, SG confirmed at presser.
  10. Really impressive presser from Roofe. Thankfully his kid is out of danger and back home, and I thought he answered the questions with honesty and class.
  11. Wow, very surprised by the line up and bench. Great to see Alfie back, he must have impressed with his fitness since coming back and just needs game time now. No Sakala or Roofe, even on the bench is very strange unless niggles have been picked up yesterday. Hopefully put in a good performance and get the win.
  12. Just had the same, phew!

  14. I agree with that entirely. The alternative (Puma and by default Ashley) was far far worse. My hope is that with the type of numbers we are posting, our continuing return to financial health and domestic and (for us at least) European success and increased profile means that when this contract is up for renewal we can go with either Adidas or Nike. I think that will move us on a stage further again and boost our coffers even more, which is ultimately what it is all about.
  15. While I accept that from a quality of product angle, it is better than the last decade of utter gash under Ashley's mucky paws. But my point is that Castore is a small fish in a small pond, and think how much more reach we could have with either Adidas or Nike, both of whom have also served us very well in the past when our retail was the best in the UK (or perhaps 2nd only to Man U - I cant recall exactly). If you have Adidas or Nike, you get into their stores worldwide and become even more recognisable as a brand worldwide. Castore is just not going to do that. So while Castore is a million times better than our strips from the last decade, they simply cannot be compared to the big boys.
  16. Huge numbers indeed. Hopefully this will allow us to get a better contract with a leading sportswear company next time instead of this small time outfit, thus allowing even more reach and into more shops worldwide.
  17. I think we all have, and as we get older we are able (mostly!) to suppress it but I embassassingly admit I never used to be able to hold my water when not liking what I was watching. I'm much more placid now I think!
  18. I have absolutely no doubt about that. There is no way we win every home game in the league with our home support in attendance. Just my opinion.
  19. I thought we looked the better team overall, more dangerous going forward, had the better players and as such I am fairly confident we can overturn the slight deficit next week and get through. Malmo had 3 shots at goal, the first a comfortable save low to McGregors left hand post and the other 2 from defensive disasters went in our net. Goldson back to his 2019/20 form of always being good for a mistake in big games, which he completely got rid of last season and hopefully that was just a blip although I have been worried at his pre-season form and had mentioned before last night that he was looking more like the Goldson of old rather than the new improved version. Time will tell and he will get plenty of it as SG's main man. With us having at least half our team playing below par, it should be surprising that we still managed to look the better side in my opinion, but Malmo were not much better than other sides we have played in Europe apart from being clinical with the 2 chances we gift-wrapped for them. Tav & Borna wont have many worse games with their crosses, Lundstrom never got going, Arfield & Kent were both industrious but without much luck. Itten, I thought was excellent in the first half in that lone striker role, I thought he fought really hard, showed lovely control but was left all too often with no out ball as a combination of Wright, Kent & Arfield couldn't get into supporting areas quickly enough. Wright was dangerous and had the beating of the full back right up until said full back kicked lumps out of him. A goal for us was always coming in my mind as we pushed them back in the last 20 minutes and they made several changes to try to close it out, and it was a shame we didnt have more firepower on the bench to call upon or we may even have salvaged a better result than we got. One thing I did notice in watching the game in a Rangers friendly venue near me yesterday was how the bears around me were so quick to turn on the team in the second half. I wasn't exactly smiling myself but it was clear we were not out of it, while for others every slightly misplaced pass or tackle resulted in abuse. It was like being back in the Copland Road stand in a league game against supposed cannon-fodder opponents where we are not 3 goals up after an hour!
  20. I agreed with the manager, Davis and Helander were the two best players. I thought Itten had an excellent first half, and Goldson had a total nightmare. Kent never stopped and tried hard with nothing really coming off for him, and Wright looked good for half an hour until they booted into him. Lundstrom seemed overawed by the occasion, miles off the pace at times, but with several players below par and us chasing the game it was telling that SG could only bring on 1 sub.
