  1. Like everything Frankie, stories fly about and while where I heard this one from is normally right on the button, things can change quickly, and sometimes things get a bit mixed up,especially when dealing with the kind of people that are being talked about in this story. As for DM being able to sort it out, that would require him giving two hoots in the first place, and as it does not affect him personally and he probably thinks if he can get £10M for him that would be a good thing, I doubt very much wether he will do anything at all. Now if Findlay was still at the club........
  2. This will probable all come down to if he can sort out his off-field problems and be able to stay safely in this part of the country. Apart from that, he will only leave if he is treated like Hutton.
  3. His two games last season were against East Fife and East Stirling, As this was my first chance to have a look at him, I kept a close watch on him. He really tried his best to impress, but to the extent that he quite often missed the easy pass or tried to beat another man instead of taking an easier option. His shooting was poor. You could tell he was giving it his all, but all too often found himself drifting out of position to go looking for the ball instead of holding his position for the good of the team. I think Walter has called it right with the lad. He has talent, and that was why we took a chance with signing him. Unfortunately it loooks as if he is going to fall into the category of player who can look good in a wee team but struggle with the demands of a club our size. As with all our Scottish players who are also bears, I really do wish it would happen for him, as these guys know what it means to us, and would go the extra mile when it matters. Giving himself another 6 months to see if he can make the breakthrough is a great attitude from the lad, and I hope when he next gets a chance to show, that he cuts out the personal stuff and knuckles down as a team player, as it is clear that is what Walter is building here, and he has no room for someone he cant trust to do his job for the team.
  4. The author has obviously written off Nacho's 16 goals as well as Boyds 25. The only thing JCD came top in was games not completed. Nice to see him committed to the cause anyway, but probably more committed to us than we are to him. Possibly just making sure we know he wont be pushed out without a large wedge in his hip pocket.
  5. Last week Newcastle This week Sunderland Next week Middlesborough The following week Portsmouth The week after that West Ham The week after that Man City And so on until 31 August 2008. Anyone get the message here yet from our friends in the mhedia. This is the silly season, please remember that.
  6. If that is accurate, then it looks like the best shirt in a decade. Recent years have been truly awful.
  7. Well for a start, JCD's first touch is normally within 5 yards of him, whereas KM's first touch normally brings a moan followed by a well done Kenny as he chases the defender 30 yards before sliding in, just too late to stop the pass.
  8. A very well written piece. Dont know anything about the book mentioned in it, and therefore can only guess about his comments re the collapse of the Romans, but the issues surrounding the RST are certainly well thought out and no doubt the first of many contributions in the lead up to the SGM.
  9. If he took his chance in Manchester at the start of the second half, he would have been elevated to God-like status. If he had taken his sitter of a chance against Lyon we would have been through to the big boys tournament last 16. Not content with missing that sitter, he spits out the dummy and gets himself sent off. As usual when the heat is on, he missed, and is therefore slated for it. If tireless running and injuries are acceptable, I am sure you will enjoy Kenny Miller. JCD does have qualities and has been a useful addition to the squad, but he does not have the necessary composure under pressure to have a long and successful career with us, in my opinion.
  10. I would have thought it was only fair that if a SGM is announced due to the departure of several board members, that said members (especially the former chairman) would be given a couple of minutes grace to say their piece. If this is not allowed, I see very little point in going to the meeting only to sanction the appointments of new board members.
  11. I am well aware that his first completed 90 mins was against Zenit. I was trying to be kind by saying that he had an inability to finish games, when I really meant, the unfit bassa was always looking at the bench from the hour mark looking to come off, and I would have punted him after the miss and red card v Lyon at home.
  12. Frankie, Now that a date and time have been announced, do you know if yourself, Scott, & Malcolm will be allowed a resignation speech at this meeting? I assume you are all able to attend and not on holidays?
  13. Yours faithfully, SECRETARY FRASER MARTIN This should be interesting!!
  14. Hope you are right about JCD leaving, although he and his agent are making noises about wanting to stay. His lack of composure in finishing has been a major let down. Add to that his inability to regularly finish games and injury prone nature and I would not be unhappy to see him leave. I agree that Velicka could be used in the same way as JCD but with a better finishing ratio.
  15. I can understand bringing in a youngster with potential as the sell-on could be very good. But surely this can only be done once you have got your priority signings covered? Walter has himself been quoted many times towards the end of the season that we want to bring in more flair and creativity for the coming season, so unless it is players at the Euros he is targetting, why are we not even being linked with this type of player yet?
  16. I'll go for Croatia to beat Turkey. Got Croatia at 12/1 E/W pre-tournament so quite happy that they have got Turkey in the QF. The next one is very tight, but I think Portugal will shade it. Scholari will have then tactically spot on to beat the Germans who have not been that good in the poorest quality group. Holland all the way in this one. Playing some great football and I have got them at 12/1 for the tournament which generous only because of their group. Russia are a good side but I think Holland will be too good for them. This is the one I am looking forward to the most. Can Spain finally (11/2 pre-tournament) nail a big competition. I would love to see them against Holland in the semi, but I fear that the experienced Italians will scare them off and the Spanish will bottle it as usual. One good point towards Spain is that both Gattuso and Pirlo are both suspended, so I will go for Spain. Then Croatia to beat Portugal, Holland to beat Spain and Holland to beat Croatia and I am quids in and have paid for our opening away European fixture.
  17. Are we just bitches now to any decent club with SKY money. Surely we can run our own club at our own level that we can afford to buy/keep players at our level and only sell them if and when it suits us, not having to sell to break even or pay off debt. 7 years of downgrading, 7 years of cost-cutting, 7 years of predominantly poor players coming in, 7 years and the highest fee paid is £2.5M, 7 years of john McClelland/Martin Bain. It appears that our chairmans desire to beef up the balance sheet is taking precedence over the team on the park, and any decent if unspectacular cash offer is going to be snatched at, despite what it does to the team.
  18. I hope they asked for his resignation. I am quite sure they did no such thing. At the very least told him that he is there to serve all 12 clubs equally and fairly, and to tell him that any requests for postponements of our fixtures that do not suit us and us alone will not be granted, so dont even ask. If there is another POD case this season, we have already answered the question.
  19. We had a relatively easy start to last season. I remember thinking that we should have 15 points from first 5 games no problem, giving us an early advantage as their start was a little trickier. And so it turned out, but I keep telling people (of both sides) the league cannot really be taken seriously until 22 games have been completed. Then everyone has played everyone home and away and you get a true reflection of where things are at. Before that stage it is good to be ahead but you may have difficult fixtures to play that your rivals have already played.
  20. Surely the greatest movie of all time. just burst out laughing reading the line, without even clicking the link. Could get dusted down and watched after the footy tonight. Altogether now..............Always look on the bright side of life:cool:
  21. Just worked out what NSFW means Just as well I work for myself BTW, Sweden for the cup(s)!!
  22. It looks from an interested observers viewpoint that your above point is absolutely correct. He can see that the people who were running it have left, and he doesnt like who that leaves in charge, either directly or indirectly. Also by attacking only 1 person in the article, it is making clear who DM (sorry, an RST insider) believes is responsible for this and is already attempting to discredit him, and by association the RST itself.
  23. Sadly, I thought as much. However I find it very interesting to see that he posted it himself where it can be picked up and quoted back, rather than get someone else to do it for him, as has been the way recently. It is clear now that the real reasons for the resignations will not be issued by the current board.
  24. Agreed. With the board meeting last night now over, we should expect something concrete about the resignations in the next day or two, no? Unless of course the facts are unpalatable and cannot easily be dressed up to look good.
  25. Agreed. His comments about MMcN were interesting I thought and was the first time anything has even been hinted at in the open about the resignations.
