  1. Sounds to me like rumours made up by his agent in his ever-increasing desparation to get us to pay his client the money he wants, and that he is neither worth nor deserves. Obviously, I would be delighted to see him leave, especially for a 7 figure fee and if the money was reinvested properly, but the whole point I have been making about the contract for Miller is that he doesn't want to leave and only came back to us for family reasons, so I have always seen all this purely about him trying to get the best deal possible (which is his right of course) out of us, and I expect him to sign a new deal at some point.
  2. And likewise, i've rarely read such a poor defence. For the record, yet again, I disliked Miller long before he signed for them and was actually delighted when he signed for them as his lack of quality, coupled with big wages, was always more advantageous to us than to them. Let's keep this to what it is actually about - his piss-poor record in European football over 3 seasons since his regretful return to our club. 12 games, no goals, played as centre forward in all games, sometimes with a partner but mostly without. Sitters against Kaunas cost us that tie, and his continued lack of composure at this level when presented with chances has resulted in us not getting the results our play from the rest of the side has merited. At this level he is an empty shirt, pure and simple, and all the facts and stats prove it. Still not convinced, then watch any of his 12 Euro games and tell me which one he deserved pass marks from? Watch them all again if you like, he doesnt merit pass marks in any of them. I will accept his goals tally this season is far more than I thought was possible from such a poor player, and he had a run of form (during contract negotiations strangely!) that was impressive, but you know the old saying, form is temporary, class is permanent, and his (lack of) class is showing through yet again, if you can see past the penalties and tap-ins (which were not good enough for Boyd to get backing)
  3. Yes, Broaders for me as well for MOTM, with a completely dishonourable mention to the empty shirt wearing our famous number 9. 12 European games, no goals, another couple of good chances missed, an assist blown, the lack of running when our beleaguered defence were screaming for an out ball only to look up and see Miller over the other side, standing 5 yards offside, making no attempt to either get back onside or make a run. The facts are there for us all to see. We have played 5 games in the CL this season with Miller playing the lone striker, and we have scored 2 goals, neither of them by him. He is so out of his depth at this level it is cringeworthy, and surely it puts to bed once and for all this notion that he can actually play a lone striker role. How many times did a McGregor kickout get won in the air by Naismith and flicked on, only for Miller to be nowhere near it as he chose not to move into position? His performace last night, while sadly all too predictable to this bear, was not worthy of even a 1 out of 10. It was that bad, and he is that bad. We have been continually told that Boyd could not play up front on his own, was lazy, didnt make runs etc etc, but the Euro performances of Miller have made Boyd look like Messi. Miller might have been able to keep up a fantastic domestic scoring record, but as many have said before, any Rangers centre forward getting the service we provide domestically should score 30 goals a season. I have always disliked him, probably always will, but performances like last night, coupled with every one of his previous 11 in a Rangers shirt in European action, shows the true man, and it is one i'd rather not have anywhere near Ibrox thank you very much.
  4. They have only just come back up though, so most of that record, impressive as it is at any level, is against Div 1 sides.
  5. The answer is in your second sentence. That type of good hard tackle where the player hits the ball hard and follows through has now been deemed as a booking. You cannot leave the ground and go into a tackle with your boot up, even slightly. Players of 20+ years ago will shake their heads in disbelief that the type of tackle so brilliantly shown by McCulloch is now a yellow card offence, but that is where the game is at now. Now compare and contrast that tackle to Samaras on Bougherra and ask where the consistency is?
  6. The way we are playing just now there is nobody in the SPL that can beat us. Unfortunately it doesnt always work like that, and a slip-up can happen in any game if we dont have the right mentality and work rate. If we work hard every game, we can beat every team in this league comfortably with the team we have just now. A game like next saturday can be very difficult as it is a game we are expected to win easily, and most fans at the game will be talking about the game yesterday and the Valencia game which will be only 3 days away at that time and not really focused on a home game against Inverness. The problem comes if the players have the same attitude and think they have an easy game in between all these hard games. ICT will work hard and fight hard for everything, and we have to guard against complacency, which is the only thing in the SPL that can beat us at the moment.
  7. There surely cannot be any tims out there anything other than completely embarrassed that instead of a balanced view on all the incidents, he tries to take away from the fact that his team were well and truly thumped by a clearly superior in every department opponent by picking out 2 incidents, 1 of which the ref got spot on, and slating the referee's performance. He really did learn a lot from O'Neill. I feel your pain bigot, and i'm loving it.
  8. Stokes should have been off, although in the first minute of your first OF game, I dont think any referee is going to show a red card, and the scum knew that and no doubt encouraged a tackle like that. McCulloch was rightly booked, although he got the ball, the challenge was rash and reckless. The penalty is a lot softer than many much stronger appeals we have had turned down since our last one ten years ago, but it is a foul in the penalty box and therefore a penalty. Would have been raging had they got a similar decision but would had to accept it was a foul. Loovens has 3 off the ball swipes at Rangers players and is not booked for any of them. As well as the Miller one in front of the ref late on, he took out Edu in our box at a set piece twice. Big dirty cheat in the true sellik tradition. I couldnt have argued if McCulloch had been given a second yellow for the nudge at the end of the first half, I called it right away that he was off and was surprised Collum let him off with a "last warning" and was hoping he would be subbed at HT to protect him as 45 minutes without a mistimed tackle is a big ask in an OF game for someone like big Lee. Overall I was reasonably content with the ref as the big calls evened themselves out, and he was brave enough to give a pen. I would go so far as to say that is the most decisions we have ever had out of Collum, and my mate was remarking before the game that we could see a McCurry in reverse and that is the way it turned out. (That is a bluenose that gives the tims everything to make sure he does not show bias in favour of the team he supports) Little good it done him, and Collum can now expect to be ex-communicated. He might need to put the cross back on the whistle after the week he is going to get.
  9. Might be something to do with the company he was keeping in the team hotel the night before. Or it might just be that he has no class :spl:
  10. Lets not give this mob any credit for being a team we should give any respect to. I can understand going more cautious against Man U or Valencia, or even Bursaspor to an extent, but against a team that have proven to be a poor side when up against anyone who goes at them, we should be treating them just like playing Aberdeen, Hibs or Hearts away from home. 4-4-2 outplay them all over the park and win the match.
  11. That was a good read that, better than I expected. Never heard of Andrew Southwick, but i'm guesing he wont be getting a job at the Record or Sun anytime soon.
  12. Thats fair enough 26th, I just couldnt do it personally as what you see as a range between amusement and bemusement others see as biased propaganda. It is too easy to pick them up on imbalance, injustice and impartiality, it is harder (impossible even) to get them to give a toss what those of us of a blue persuasion think of them. And with that in mind I take the option of not giving them ratings, hits, or circulation figures.
  13. I haven't been as confident of an easy victory in an OF game at the Piggery in years. I cannot see anywhere that they could threaten us from, I think we are miles ahead of them in all areas of the park, and the important match ups are well balanced in our favour. The only thing we can do that IMO would give the bheasts a chance would be to go with the 5 man defence and give them a lot of possession. They wont look to play 20 passes and cut us open like Man U and Valencia, it will be route 1 stuff into the box and look for scraps and penalties. The ref is going to be under severe pressure from the first minute from the fully offended brigade and we will need to ensure that we dont breathe on them around the box as it will result in poor decisions from the crucifix whistler from the RC school. Play with Whittaker and Papac at full back flanking Weir and Bougherra, Davis and Edu in the centre of midfield with Naismith and Weiss attacking them down both sides with Miller and Lafferty both looking to take the match ball home if we create the same chances as we have been doing in recent weeks. Lets not bring back in the negative McCulloch or Broadfoot, they are not worthy of such respect, and lets go out there and do these chunts in a way not seen at the piggery in many a long year. If we can go with a positive formation and get a fair crack from the ref, we could and should have this game won by half time, and the second half will see them resort to kicking, diving, cheating and their chief bigot screaming injustice from the dugout, ably assisted by 50,000 smelly on-message tims hurling abuse, lighters, coins etc as is their want. 14. Or perhaps he is a bitter tim of the dirtiest order, and deserves nothing of our time or attention, in line with any good-thinking bears avoidance of his radio station and newspaper. You will only be offended if you continue to listen to or read this scumbag's utterances which have long long since ceased to be anything even slightly impartial.
  15. Dont get me wrong Norris, i'd be gutted as well if we lost the last 3 games in the group, was just pointing out that we have a track rrecord of starting well and ending poorly, plus looking at the 3 games it wouldnt be a shock to lose in Spain or even at home to Man U, and the Turks are generally better at home and will be fighting to avoid an embarrassing whitewash.
  16. While I am as surprised and delighted as my fellow bears at having 5 points already, the hard work only really starts now. We have managed to be in a good position at the halfway point on more than one occassion in the group stages, only for it to come crashing down when push comes to shove in the final 3 games. Trips to Valencia and Bursa, with the visit of Man United in between, could quite easily see us remain on 5 points at the end of the group stage, and while I am confident that would see us move into the Diddy Cup come February, and that that was our realistic aim at the outset, I doubt I am alone in thinking it would be now be seen as a chance wasted to join the really big boys in the tournament proper for only the second time since the format changed to the current version. I said at the start I would gladly take 4 points from this group and 3rd place, and concentrate on winning the title, so I am absolutely delighted that we have went through the first half of the campaign unbeaten, and having only conceded 1 goal, and an OG at that. As always in this format, the next game is going to be oh so important, and a score draw in Valencia will give us a great chance of eliminating them into the Diddy Cup and us taking their seeded place in the last 16. However let us not get too carried away, i'm off to book tickets for Wembley!
  17. Cant see any significant new signings in January, although a couple of squad players is a possibility to try to develop a bit of depth for the inevitable injuries and suspensions as a long season with a small squad starts to take its toll. I cant also see Walter asking for, or getting, any significant money to spend on players given that he is supposed to be leaving 5 months later.
  18. I cant give it to Foster just because of that miss, that at the time I thought was a difficult angle and I was sticking up for him until I seen it on tv when I got home, a shocker indeed. He also was skinned a few times in the first 10 mins and was a shaky start to the game from him (understandable of course). Was well impressed with his performance overall though. Bougherra for me defended well (mostly) and was a growing influence as an extra attacker as the second half went on. He just shades it ahead of Naismith, who although the best player cant get MOTM for his 2 really good chances that he missed. Edu was another candidate, but his OG plus a shaky start when he got caught in possession a lot and gave the ball away with loose passes had me cringing early on. Weir was fantastic, read the game well, was well protected of course, and a great foul gave away near the end when Valencia had a good break on. McGregor had a couple of good saves, but one amazing clanger that fortunately didnt cost us. Papac was solid at the back, covered for his team-mates when he had to, and did his job without fuss as we have come to expect. Davis was outstanding at times and also caught on the ball often as well. A few good passes and tackles in a really tough midfield area filled with real quality from the Spanish but we held our own in there. Weiss played well, with his defensive responsibilites actually holding him back at times. He had been told that the reason he wasnt picked at OT or v the Turks was that he didnt defend well enough. He looked to be trying to prove he has learned this side of the game under Walter, but sometimes we were crying out for him to be the release ball. Whittaker did well with some good mazy runs, but too predictable at this level for a team of such quality and they picked him off quite easily at times. Defended well. That only leaves Misser, who continues to prove my theory a lot better than my words alone that he is not good enough for either the role he is asked to play at this level, or indeed to play at this level at all. Another absolute stinker from him, and the sitter from Edu's post-hitting shot should haunt him for the rest of his life. Ten CL matches now with no goals, how much longer can we continue to ignore this fact and continue to play him? Overall I was delighted with the performance, and satisfied enough with the result, which I would have accepted gladly pre-match but like others am slightly disappointed with after creating so many fantastic chances to put the game away. On another night we could have had 5 or 6 goals against a top 3 Spanish side who couldn't cope with the pace of our play when we got the ball. Read that last sentence again. Can you believe it? I know I am still trying to work it out myself.
  19. Not bad for a team chasing the ball most of the time, that we can do so without fouling and not conceding goals is to our extreme credit, not that we will get any from our own National mhedia.
  20. Have long sice given up on getting any proper Q&A at this charade, and stopped going last year as it is a complete waste of time for those looking for answers to our questions. The format, without any comeback available for a supplementary, means that even if a "difficult" question is asked, it can be batted off easily.
  21. Get it pinned up on the wall at Auchenhowie all week long.
  22. But that would be our fault PTB, as they fell out when he was Rangers doctor. 100% us to blame, we should be disbanded and all our titles given to Ra Shellic as compensation. (Note to Spiers; dont go copying that!)
  23. Of course we can keep him, but that will depend on the following 3 factors; 1. None of the really big EPL clubs come in for him. Other EPL clubs could easily meet our valuation, but I am confident McGregor will only want to move to a biggy. 2. We can offer him terms that he is happy with. He will know he can earn more elsewhere, but if he earns a good wage with us, added to the good factors about staying with us, we can be fairly confident about retaining him. 3. He can stay where he is, close to his family, and continue to win things and become a Rangers legend. If he continues to mature with experience, he could, I repeat "could" get his reputation up there with The Goalie. He will see how highly Goram is regarded by bears, over a decade after his last game for the club, and this type of life-long admiration can be a good earner for these guys (not that they should need it) with functions, books etc as a Rangers legend.
  24. I'd agree with that. I thought somewhere around 45,000 and was pleasantly surprised at how few empty seats there were at the game, given the overpriced nature of the tickets.
  25. As a RSC we ordered the total number of tickets for our clubs members that wanted to go to Tannadice, 66, and that is the number of tickets we got. What the Sheriff was saying was that RSC's and by definition any Supporters Club, have no legal identity to sue as a collective as they are an unincorporated body that merely act as ticket agency's for individual supporters. This has been argued against to 3 different Sheriffs on 4 different occassions, and we won the argument every time, including to the Sheriff who ultimately ruled against us at the start of the 2-day hearing. Why he then went back on his original ruling when it came to putting it into writing at the end of the hearing is anyone's guess.
