  1. As a team we seem to play, mostly, as a better unit than the qualities of each player. However I think there is not one player that would get into our side that last won the top title, so therein tells you that our quality is not good enough. Thankfully our rivals have also weakened so the gap is not as big as it could have been. I'm giving Wes, Tav, Waghorn, the benefit of the doubt, and I'm definitely keeping Wallace, Holt & McKay, so that leaves 5 new first team players that we need to bring in. I agree we don't need a clear out of epic proportions simply because our squad is so thin, but those who are never going to be good enough for next season are fairly easily identifiable- Wilson Miller Clark Shiels law bell Temps should all be moved on, but I don't think they all will leave.
  2. Ah those were the days when the air was still clean and free of the stench of timothy!!
  3. About the easiest thread on Gersnet in a while!! Jason Holt for POTY Barrie McKay for YPOTY While everyone is allowed their opinion, anyone voting for anyone else is just plainly wrong!! How Waghorn & Tav never made it onto the shortlist while Kiernan did goes a long way to backing up what I have always said about polls like this, an absolute nonsense. As for Liam Burt making it onto the YPOTY, does that show a lack of young players making first team appearances, or have they missed someone far more suitable that I just cant think of at the moment?
  4. As expected. Should be a nice spring evening with a guard of honour from the Livvy team and a good turnout from partying Bears.
  5. Our over the top policing, stewarding, refereeing and compliance officer punishments are making football less and less attractive for paying punters, sponsors, tv companies & their subscribers. Compare and contrast the Halliday sending off with much more aggressive celebratory antics from the likes of Mixu and the bheasts, and then compare the antics that goes on at a lot of rugby matches where punch-ups, gouging, and all sorts of assaults are never brought to the attention of the authorities outwith the egg-chasers. Ice-hockey I understand virtually encourages players to throw off the gloves and helmets and have a fight in the middle of the rink, without fear of arrest. Where are the political summits here? Why is booze outlawed at football but encouraged at Rugby & Ice Hockey? Our national sport is being overrun by the politically correct and bigoted so-called fans going out of their way to be offended by anything their rivals do/say/sing. The sooner some sanity is brought in and politicians but out we may just be able to sell the game to the next generation, but the way it is going we have no chance. They might as well follow egg-chasing.
  6. I would have him in the team ahead of Wilson in a heartbeat. Don't know what has happened to Danny since leaving us, but his defending is utterly atrocious. His awareness and positional play is really poor and I am astonished at just how bad he has been as I rated him highly before and was delighted we got him back. The one saving grace for him is that I believe he would look a far better defender if he had the right partner. I don't think the partnership with Kiernan works at all, neither takes charge and both have the same attributes and faults. Good passers, confident in possession, reasonable pace, but both suffer from poor starting positions and neither can see the danger developing in front of them. Unfortunately I think Kiernan is slightly the better player overall and that may work against Wilson for next season if Kiernan is preferred to partner the new centre back we must buy. We may even buy two and that would leave us with too many and Luca would be unlikely to get a new deal if that is going to be MW's way forward.
  7. It is normal after a defeat to focus more on the negatives rather than what we can take out of it positively, and there were plenty of negatives to go over in tonight's second half capitulation. Yes we should have been out of sight and Miller should have had another hat trick and on another day we could have scored double figures but we didn't. The most worrying factor for me is that in our three most difficult away games against our two main "rivals" for this second tier title, we have lost the lot when we should not have lost any of them. While the manager deserves and gets huge amounts of praise for turning our club around and there really isn't a great deal to moan about, this is a fact that needs addressing. You don't win top tier titles by losing all your tough away games. I hope W&W learn the lessons that are staring at them and get the recruitment right this summer. The requirements haven't changed all season, two centre backs, a creative midfielder and two strikers.
  8. I get that BD, but the odd snippet of information that can be useful, like this article, is vastly overwhelmed by a huge amount of biased or inaccurate (and quite often both) articles. They cannot even accurately represent what was said at a media conference, so what credibility can we give them? Given the Record's long long line of abuse of power when it comes to Rangers, there is no way that the fans group should be getting this kind of thing done in partnership with this paper. Remembering this is the paper with the official tie up with our biggest rivals. By all means release a press statement, or ask the club to put something up on the official club website (we are all friends now right?!) and get the statements on all social media. Anyone not covered by this doesn't really care very much or will vote anyway. The latest readership figures for the Record is about 260K according to the NRS for 2015. Take out all the bheasts, egg-chasers, non-sports and downsize it to any Rangers supporters with a vote that doesnt already know about it through social media or talking to other Bears and what are you down to? A very small number IMO (unquantifiable of course!), so it doesnt seem worth it to me to give this rag the piece to do when we certainly get a lot more negative publicity from the paper than positive. The inky trade is dying, rightly so, and the sooner the better for Rangers supporters.
  9. I know Ralston is a Bear, but whoever gave the go-ahead (or asked) for this puff piece in the most Rangers-hating paper out there really needs to take a good long look at themselves. Cut off all ties with ALL newspapers NOW please.
  10. With the report coming from ESPN, I would take it with a huge pinch of salt. Any time I have read something on ESPN regarding anything other than the very top of football, the pieces I found to be regularly full of errors. A bit like asking Chick Young for tactical analysis.
  11. Makes a mockery of previous cancellations but happy the game will go ahead as normal.
  12. Thanks Frankie. Absolutely bang on that any misuse of the word should lead to censorship of those posts and possible the posters. We all should know what is and isn't allowed by now, and what context is legally acceptable and what is not. If I want to say that I hope we send the fenians home early and unhappy from our semi-final, then I cannot under any circumstances be charged for that. I dont particularly like the word or use it very often and I dont deem it particularly offensive as they call themselves it, but when online generally just use tims or them.
  13. I agree that this has worked out well for us, but by default rather than design. Surely our football club should be financing our future through youth development? As a significant shareholder, (looking ahead) Club 1872 would be party to board meetings (or access to Directors at least) and therefore things like a museum become worthy of investment if the fans annual investment and membership voting decrees it so. I maintain it should still be up to the club to take our fans money through club 1872 in return for a shareholding, and then spend it wisely on agreed areas.
  14. RYD was only set up because the bank froze our spending once the economic crash sent Murray's property empire into a tailspin and this was the only way to get investment into the youth side of the club as the bank budget wouldnt allow it. In a properly funded, properly run club, we dont need a RYD. A club this size should be entirely self-sufficient, especially if it has a seven figure sum annually coming in from Club 1872 members in return for issuing new shares.
  15. Thanks pete. I know its a thankless task running a forum, and I in no way am having a pop at you guys, you do a great job and have my thanks for it. I am glad it will be discussed behind the scenes.
  16. This "projects" thing interests me. In a properly run club, I am at a loss at to what a "project" could possibly be that the club itself would not want to pay for, if it was receiving investment from Club 1872 for new shares released to it from the Club 1872 contributions? Things mentioned like a museum, fanzone, etc should all be paid for and run by the club, if the club has any interest in giving supporters a greater experience both on match-days and non-match-days. It seems to me like something hinted at by the club to get something for nothing from the fans. With the greatest respect, King etc are all getting full shareholding ratios for their investment, but this is saying the fans can just pay for things themselves and get a couple of match tickets for it? This part of it has not been thought through properly. The right thing for this Club 1872 to do is to buy shares and buy shares and buy shares. Making more shares available each year as their member contributions come in. Diluting the shareholding percentages of those existing shareholders like King and T3B, and increasing the fans percentage. Of course King can always pop some more in to keep his percentage up if he so desires. This way the fans put the money directly into the club and get something back for it, in our desire to be self-sufficient and self-owning. Now that would be something.
  17. Thanks for the replies Pete, Craig.I get where you are coming from, but I believe you are wrong in this case. I respect the site admin's decisions on difficult issues, and nobody wants to get wrapped up in legal issues, but the whole point of my post in this thread is to point out that the treatment of h.u.n. and f.en.ian in law is exactly the same. To then have a Rangers site that bans one term and not the other (which is the more offensive of the two) is doing ourselves an injustice. If you had banned both words, I would have understood. I do think this site is fantastic for its adult treatment of people to make good choices and be informed enough to know what the correct usage would be and what would get them into trouble. It is therefore a shame we have double standards on such an emotive issue.
  18. I share Rab's view that to win the title we need to be bringing in some top quality. However MW has brought in some guys like Forrester from pub teams down south who are looking ok so far. He knows what he wants from a player and he must surely know the quality we will face next season, so while I really want at least a couple of game-changing quality players, I think rbr is right in saying we should probably leave it to the pros. I'm won't stop us debating the pedigree of signings, none of which have had me itching to see their debuts, but this team seems greater than the sum of its parts, so some slack has to be given. MW will know he must come at least second next season and win the title the next or his head will be called for, so he has earned the right to do it his way.
  19. Hey, WTF is this with f.e.n.i.a.n. Being blocked out but h.u.n. Is not? On our own site? Sort this out please admin.
  20. Typical of the gutter press to keep stoking away at this issue that has been done to death. Everyone should know by now that hun or ****** on their own is not illegal, it is about the context used. Hun bastards = jailed ****** bastards = jailed Listen to they Huns singing their songs = ok Look at the ******s leaving early again = ok What is even less surprising about the article is the usual lack of balance. It is basically telling one side they are fine to call us huns without the balance or explanation about context. As an aside, when I addressed the senior police officers at a meeting about this issue, and we went through the context issue, I am still waiting to hear of any time the word hun has been used in a complimentary fashion. My meaning being that if the adjective is always used in a negative connotation, and never used by ourselves when addressing each other, then the only thing left is that it is being used as an abusive term, which would be illegal. The powers that be refused to concede on this and blamed the top legal guy, who himself has used the term many times and will not concede its derogatory connotations or even enter into discussions about it, even when asked to do so by the now (2ic at the time) first minister. That told us everything required about it.
  21. Why is it a surprise that Laudrup would be in this list and the diving, cheating, leg-breaking Swede isn't? One is top top quality and the other is a good player. There is night and day between them and only bigoted tims think they were of a similar quality. One played a huge part in his country, as huge outsiders, winning the tournament. The other was second striker in a good Sweden team that failed to deliver. As far as the poll goes, it is an absolute no-brainer that one is included and the other is not. He wouldnt make the top 100 either if it was about performances in the Euros.
  22. Given it is just friendlies and Scotland doesnt have a competitive game for 6 months, it would be the right thing to do for any Championship players not to be called up this time to allow then to play for their clubs, and their clubs to play their games as scheduled. Of course, who cares what makes sense where Scottish football is concerned.
  23. SFA knew they could do this, but as some of the broadcast fee would have gone to Rangers, Hibs, Hearts & Killie (if both replays were shown) and not to the only team they are there to look after, then they couldnt be arsed picking up the phone to UEFA to get this overturned. Of course if our (n)ever-reliant media had been on the ball, they could have put more pressure on the SFA at the appropriate time. Amateurs in charge all over the place, no wonder the game is in the grubber.
  24. Hardie Aird Thompson are all away on loan & Oduwa is back at Spurs so they wont count for our three call-ups. Perhaps McKay if there are U21 games? Is Shiels still getting call-ups for NI? Zelalem for USA? If Zelalem, Shiels & McKay all get called up our game will be off, no doubt about it. It is unfortunate the very nature of these things is we wont know the squads until usually about 10 days before the game, so effectively about 12 days or so before the QOTS game. Not much time for those Bears who require planning to make it to games to either confirm or change plans.
