Just popped out to the newsagent there and had a wee look at the back of the Sun. Says we are looking to get both Driver and Berra, dependant on us getting rid of some deadwood. I know they talk shite but I was nevertheless pleasantly surprised given they were the same two players I mentioned at the start of the thread. Freaky coincidence or tabloid bullshit? Sorry Gribz, I'm afraid that the Dutch/German League players would require some semblance of a scouting network to identify. Since we're out of Europe this year we won't be "unearthing" any gems.

I know a lot of us, myself included are normally adverse to signing SPL players, but I think both Andy Driver and Christoph Berra from Hertz would be shrewd acquisitions. Driver is getting better all the time, apparently he terrorised the bheggars at the weekend there. He might sort out the problem LM position since WS seems incapable of playing Aaron, who may be the better player given time, but hey we'll never know will we? I'd like to get Tonel in at the back, but like I said on some other thread, we won't get near him in Jan since Sporting qualified for the last 16 in the CL. I'm also praying we can get rid of at least a portion of the clutch of deadwood we always seem to be carrying.

We need a Weir successor in January if we seriously want to win the league. His distribution has got to the point where I have won bets with mates that he will give the ball away ten times in one half of a game played at Ibrox FFS. Twice I have won this bet. Wish I'd thought of it sooner! We won't be getting anywhere near Tonel in January since Sporting just qualified to the last 16 of the CL. Which is a blow as I suspect Magic is for the off. I'd rather have Berra than some lad still playing in Ireland at 25. By the way, just to be cheeky, to the posters on here making a point of politically accepting this signing I would say this. I would love Robbie Keane at Ibrox. Would you?

Always liked Loy when i've seen him play on sultana, same goes for the boy Little. Young CFs NEVER get a real chance at Rangers though. Not in my lifetime anyway. Shame. Arteta was outstanding both legs. I remember Archie drooling over him in the commentary. I was Overjoyed when we signed him. Also recall Arsene Wenger calling Ronaldinho a "saloon bar player" prior to the game! The players jumping on Advocaat at the end opened a lot of people's eye's to the bond he had with the team as opposed to the media view that he was solely a disciplinarian. Great memories. BTW if that PSG team had stayed together who knows what they could have achieved. Righ up them nevertheless!!!

There's the rub. Everybody that bothers to post on here has a good idea of the abilities of all of our players, their strengths, weaknesses and most importantly where they should be deployed. You would expect a degree of confusion among fans occasionally as to the team line up due to the fact that guys like Smith see the players training every day, know the intricacies of the game better than the layman etc etc. But 4,5 sometimes more players out of position week after week coupled with clear and consant tactical ineptitude? Unwavering loyalty to CBs at full back when Whittaker and Smith (or McMillan or Wylde or some other natural fullback) would surely benefit from a run in the team???? I've had enough of Walter. I don't know where we go from here but I have a suspicion, backed up by recent media soundbites, that Coisty is being lined up as some sort of post failure "pick me up" after we piss the league away again. A step down akin to the Advocaat/ Mcleish one in terms of managerial experience and general presence. Someone Murray can fill with bullshit promises and lazily watch him burn. Having said that, maybe Coisty could pick the team properly from the decent squad we currently have that is just being used ineffectively, negligently even.

Aaron, Fleck, Efrem. 3 exiting young players with more talent in their pinky toes than Kyle Lafferty. Never gonna see them. Now I know you don't throw in the youth when things are bad. However, when things begin to appear hopeless as regards the wide positions, then even a fool would experiment. FFS Walt at least stick Novo back on one of the wings if you can't bring yourself to try someone younger.
