  1. Now we will find out if they are playing for the manager or not.
  2. But that is virtually our strongest team is it not? (We can agree re Lawrence though.)
  3. Why? There is no way we won't get second place and we are still fighting in the Europa.
  4. I'm a little more encouraged by that, after all the doom-mongering.
  5. I was just trying to take the discussion to a new level. Seems I succeeded! (for the record, I don't want Lennon anywhere in Scotland.) Though at first I thought you meant John Lennon!
  6. Then you have endorsed my argument: we won't get better than Clement in the near future. Unless Rousseau's favourite, Mr Knudsen, can be persuaded.
  7. Couldn't agree more. The 'rip it up and start again' model usually ends in disaster. If this board was Man City most would want Pep sacked.
  8. Going to throw a curveball here. There is an experienced coach who may soon be available, who loves attacking football and has had success in Scotland. There is certainly no footballing reason why he should not be considered. To quote the unlamented Rolf Harris, can you guess who it is yet?
  9. The reason I place so much emphasis on Europe is because it is the only way to raise the profile of the club. When Souness and Gerrard were in charge, players wanted to come here because of the reputation of the manager. I doubt anyone will want to come to Rangers because of Derek McInnes. Ok, he may win us the league and a cup or two, but who would care outside of Scotland. Maybe it's because I reside in England but I get sick of those down here who think we are playing in a pub league; if we do well in Europe then that perception changes. If we do end up with McInnes he will only do it with Scottish players; I can't see him having the kind of quality signings at his disposal that Keltic have been able to attract.
  10. And, so I believe, is Sean Dyche. Just saying.
  11. Am I? They still had international players in their line-up and failed as we did. Cup shocks happen. Even to the biggest teams. Wouldn't surprise me if we beat a rejuvenated Hearts.
  12. If we play 2 up front then that means departing from our 4-2-3-1 which is how most teams pay these days e.g. Aston Villa.
  13. See, even Liverpool lost. Bet their fans haven't gone into meltdown. Mind you, they can say they put a second string out, though we did start with not our first eleven.
  14. 'Bear force One'. Brilliant.
  15. I hope to god that Clement doesn't get the sack after this. A new manager would rip it up and start again, just when we seem to be getting a good squad together.
  16. I know. I just meant those stats suggest he doesn't do much in terms of creating.
  17. Yes and it also shows how misleading those stats are ref. Dessers - where would we be without his goals?
  18. Is that definite he goes back to Wolfsburg? As John Mac says below it's not easy to replace that level of quality.
  19. Surprised no Davie Cooper mentions.
  20. My understanding is if we took him now we would have to pay much more compensation.
  21. Might have been let go because he had little hope of displacing Cerny, Igomane and/or Dessers, at least in the short term; if that implies a willingness to hold on to those 3 then I'm ok with it.
  22. Imagine he will take the place of Lawrence. Hope it's not Hagi as he has become a key player for us. Not sure if Cameron is a no. 8 or a 10.
  23. 'Twas the SFA centenary match I was referring to. Remember Mick Channon playing for ENG. Can't recall the Home Int though.
