Think I already know the answer but I wonder how Gers fans would feel about a Newcastle-type takeover?

My cousin met him when she worked at Edmiston House. She described him as a gentleman. He had no idea her family are K*****c supporters. -

Well, they would get competitive matches and maybe a close glimpse of the best young Scottish talent for them to plunder? -

He was just a random example; my point was that most players relish international football.

In financial terms yes, but very few players actually turn down the chance to play in the Euros or World Cup.

You might as well say cancel all international football. Do you think Haaland will tell Norway to shove it? Or any of the England players who earn much more at their clubs? No, because playing for your country should be the highest honour bestowed on an individual. In Jack's case, doubt he will start much anyway. Souttar is more of a concern, but maybe right now he needs a run of games.

Looks like this Cifuentes is next through the door. Fits age profile and may have sell-on value; could play in Jack's position when the latter is on treatment table; seems to be versatile. If we are mirroring Brighton's recruitment policy then that will do me; they have taken relative unknowns and moulded them into their squad with a judicious mixture of youth from their academy.

You make your points with clarity and common sense; however, we should be qualifying for the CL every season. That must be our aim. Aribo and Bassey, granted, are great examples of who we should be recruiting; I'm dubious that Dowell and Sterling are in that league. BTW Aribo has sunk without trace at relegated Southampton - not sure what that tells us.
