Talking about young Fleck, The Herald - not for the first time - this morning is claiming he is a cert for the first team next season. Be interesting to see what the line up will be if that's the case; he seems to be left-sided and not an out-an-out striker. Could he be the back-up to Darch from midfield that Fergie failed to be?

Like you, I'm in my fifth decade, so you'll probably recall a player called Ted McDougall? Played for Bournemouth and like Boyd scored for fun. But when he moved up to Man. Utd. he was found wanting. Similar scenario with Boyd. Only way it can work for him is if we play 4-4-2 with the right partner and that might -MIGHT - just be Kenny Miller. I don't want Miller more than anyone else does, but I can't see any other point in having him at Ibrox.

Agree that we threw it away. If we had done what we needed to there was nothing C****c could have done. Next season we must prioritise. And we can't sacrifice Europe. A good run - not necessarily winning it - is essential for prestige and cash. But the two cup competitions? We can certainly do without all the extra time and replays they entailed. So I suggest we save the Scottish Cup and League Cup for the Furmans and Flecks - really utilise our squad to the full, which is IMO what WS didn't do this season.

Great stuff there mate. Did you see Albertz's goal v I think Stirling? From your list I'd take Elmander, Lennon (can we really get him?) and Thuram. Don't know why full back keeps coming up - what's wrong with Whittaker and SMITH? Anyone know if Smith is badly crocked?

You're dead right about the Carlos situation not being the same as the Hutton one. Then, we DID need the money:now we DO'NT. I know every player has his price, but even if WS had his budget doubled, where will he get 2 half-decent CB's from?

You know what? I thought the cup final was going to be straightforward for us; now I'm not so sure. The lads must be totally shattered, mentally as well as phsically. QoS have had time to relax, they beat Aberdeen who beat us. Hate to say it - we could lose. Am trying NOt to be negative!

Yeh, that IS sickening. It was US who raised the co-efficient. Surely we have done enough now to avoid the 2nd qualifying round? It's like last year when we had Zeta and Red Star. Imagine getting Dynamo Kiev!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Mullins a left back? I thought Papac can cover for Smith - does that mean Smith is unlikely to regain his former form, so to speak? If so,that would really be a tragedy.

Why are we all just accepting this? We don't NEED the money at the moment. We (hopefully) will have a Champions League group to negotiate. If we are serious about competing in it then we need players of Carlos' calibre. It's not like the Hutton situation where we did actually need the dosh.

Just heard that Liverpool have signed Swiss right back Degen on a free. That seems a good move. Could have done a job for us methinks. Only 26 and played v. well against Scotland last year. I'm assuming that WS doesn't see Whittaker as RB.

Maybe someone on this forum could start a "Do you want Kenny Miller?" poll. I'm pretty sure what the answer would be. I'm not against him on ability, just his attitude. Look at cousin for instance.

Deco and Gudjohnson are available apparently - wouldn't they just solve our problems? Seriously, I think we should spend most of our budget on just 2 quality players; we already have a strong SQUAD. -
Oooooh!.... clever! Won't happen of course. I now want us to win SPL more than ever if that were possible.

What should not be forgotten is that it's actually more important to win the SPL because of the guaranteed Champions League money. If we had won the UEFA but lost the league - can you imagine having to sit through the Euro qualifiers, Zeta and Red Star and the likes? We would be nervous wrecks.

I actually thought that just before they scored, we were playing our best stuff. The ITV team were saying that WS must have thought about replacing Darch. Think he could have brought Novo on then instead of waiting till his hand was forced. Even then the wee man nearly equalised. If we had scored first, I am convinced we would not have lost; for all their impressive football they never hurt us till Arshavin put that ball past Carlos.
