He should 'waltz' straight back in because he's the best, simple as that. It's not a question of Alex. having done anything wrong and I believe he would understand that. Comparisons with Klos aren't the same because AM hadn't really proved himself then and I think we had Klos and Waterreus at the time. It's the same with every other keeper at every other big club cf Cudicini at Chelsea, Kusczak at Manure etc....

Yeh, I know but so were Partizan and they were drawn away -
CL 2nd Round - Rangers v Santa Coloma/Kaunas

No, won't be easy. But why do we keep getting drawn at home? I know we did all right last season but IMO being drawn at home first is a big disadvantage. -
Sorry - must strongly disagree. Alexander was signed as a no. 2 and was happy to do so. Granted, he did a great job as back-up but did have dodgy moments, especially when dealing with crosses. He couldn't have pulled off the saves AM did v Werder Bremen.

Yep, remember it..SIR Alastair Burnet! Classic! Robert Carlisle was brought up in Maryhill and also claims to be a Thistle fan.
-
Trying to think of other 'celeb' fans. Hugh Grant claimed to be one before the eufa final and claimed he wanted a ticket. Dunno how much truth there is in that though. Sean Connery is a buddy of SDM but don't think we can claim him as one of our own.

'scuse my ignorance - who is she? And is that really a Gers scarf?
-
Thus spake the silver-tongued sage of Singapore! Poor old Boydy - he now has to create his own chances as well as finish them. Who'd be a striker? Never mind, Ross Mccormack is trying to get him to join Cardiff.

McGregor signs new 5 year deal!

You've obviously seen a lot of him - must be some keeper, Gomes. I didn't see anyone at Euro 2008 whom I'd have preferred to AM. -
Spurs won't be moving for Mac. now after they signed PSV keeper Gomes. That means Robinson can bugger off to Keegan land so he won't try for him either hopefully. So that leaves...Man City?
-
Do we need a centre back though? We have Webster on the way back plus Weir has re-signed. Think we have other priorities, unless he's - oh god no - Cuellar's replacement.
-
Yes, light blue? I always thought our colour was Royal Blue - or is that not politically correct any more?
-
Calscot - think you misread people feeling 'sorry' for him; it's more that we are puzzled when a young prospect doesn't seem to be getting a chance without any obvious explanation. Hope I'm not saying the same thing about Fleck in year's time.
-
Second that. You've got to consider who we replace him with. Alexander is a more-tahn-capable deputy. He's not a youngster with time to improve.

Seems a reasonable explanation/opinion. We shouldn't be in a rush to push him out the door.
-
The Fergie/Thomson situation is a bit like the Gerrard/Lampard thing. If we play them both, then we must accept we play with one up front in a 4-2-3-1 a la the Dutch. Fergie and Thomson are the 2 'sitters', then the 3 in midfield can be creative and wide left and right. BUT - and it's a big but - what do we do with all those strikers? The likeliest one up front is I think Velicka or,dare I say it, Miller.
-
I can only remember him having a promising debut v LA Galaxy in a pre-season televised game. Can see the same thing happening to Lafferty. Can't see him being deployed at centre forward, but is he really a left winger/midfielder? Can you imagine a pairing of Miller & Laff?
-
Last I heard they denied making a bid?
-
See that Faddy has asked to leave Brum. Swap deal with Boyd? Could this solve our creative midfielder problem? I know he's a Tim but C****c don't seem to want him. Not advocating this, just flying a kite.
-
Great news if true. Looks like Miller and Velicka will start in a 4-4-2 but Boyd will be breathing down their necks - at least in domestic ganes.
-
Just making the point that what greater contribution can you make to a team than scoring goals? Not really making a valid comparison. And Boyd always has a go, he's never put off when he misses (just like Super Ally). And just like you- out of all your 17,000 posts, not all were on target, were they?
-
There once was a player who played for Germany. People said he was fat, too short and had poor technical skills. But he kept scoring goals, usually in the last minute of vital international games. A journalist said to him - "You only score goals." His riposte - "NOBODY ever ONLY scores goals." His name? The legendary Gerd Muller. Remind you of anybody?
-
Calscot - you may have a point about Buffel but don't forget he wasn't played because it would have triggered a release clause in his contract - I think £400,000 to Feyenoord - and we didn't want to part with our hard-earned that easily. Nothing to do with him not wanting to fight for his place.

Just like to add my congrats to a very erudite article. Can I suggest it be archived on the main forum?

That's the only chink of light for me. With Boyd and all aour strikers, I'm unsure how Fleck could get a place, even as a sub.
