  1. Burley was right in what he said about Fleck - totally wrong in the way he treated Boyd. I would love Fleck to play for Scotland. I take it you wouldn't want him lining up alongside any C****c player? But then I suppose you're in favour of a Team GB?
  2. [QUOTE=bigbear;136451]Where in my post did i state Burley insulted Fleck? So just because Burley insulted Kirk and Boyd he has no right to comment on Fleck - even if he's right? If you wish to watch our national team among a bunch of "fans" dressed in "Made in Taiwan Kilts" and Timberland boots, booing our captain Barry its your choice. Any Scotland supporter who boos along club lines is no true supporter IMO. - whatever the club.
  3. Yeh, but I can't see Aaron or Beasley up front with Boyd - unless you're thinking pull in Fleck and put one of those two out wide. O.K. but Walter won't go for it - I feel it in my bones.
  4. I'd agree wholly with that line-up apart from the hopelessly out-of-form Miller. With no Novo to step in I just don't know who should partner Boyd. I don't think Lafferty complements him. Moving Fleck in from LM leaves a hole there for McCulloch to fill (!!). That just leaves Naismith, and it's maybe too early for him, having just returned from injury.
  5. 'Tartan army ****s'? What the hell are you talking about? I'm a proud Rangers and Scotland supporter. Our players have down the years formed the backbone of Scotland sides -Greig, Baxter, Cooper where do I start? How has Burley insulted young Fleck? By suggesting he may be a bit young? In fact he was quoted as saying if you're good enough, you're old enough. By all means criticise Burley but running down the concept of our national team is disloyal at best and sectarian at worst. I couldn't care less if our national side consisted of 11 C****c players -when they pull on a dark blue jersey they are Scottish players. Full stop.
  6. We'd better not screw up with this lad. Everton couldn't hold on to Rooney too long but they got a decent fee. I'm not naive enough to expect him to be at Ibrox for the next 15years but we should at least get decent service from him - say like C****c got from Dalglish. One worry is I can see the scum media in Scotland with their prepared headlines like "Fleck wants away from the Glasgow goldfish bowl" blah, blah, blah - magnifying every little indiscretion (it's already started); as if Gerrard and Micah Richards are not in a goldfish bowl. Rangers FC are not - and must NEVER - be allowed to be a nursery club for anyone. Yes, we will sell on players - but at a time and a place when it suits us. And as for the suggestion that Fleck will never reach the top when in the SPL - well we SHOULD be in Europe every year competing v. the Milans and Manchesters. I've no worries re Fleck - but I DO have concerns about Martin Bain. The £9 million for Craig Gordon and the Hutton fee are the only times Scottish clubs have received anything like a reasonable transfer fee, and when the dreaded time does come, I hope we hold out for his true value.
  7. Ha! Ha! that didn't take long. Actually I thought of Willie Collum/Gollum??
  8. Transfer window has now closed. Boyd is still here! Mendes still here! McG still here! Bougherra still here! and........ Fleck still here!
  9. Now, Now:) Wouldn't you like it if he rediscovered his early promise and he came back to us, invigorated?
  10. Exactly. McGregor could find himself an expensive reserve and at this stage in his career he'll want to be no. 1
  11. If true this is a tragedy. Injury must have taken the edge off him, there can be no other explanation.
  12. And also look at the quality of goals he has scored for us: the Van Basten volley v Thistle; goal v Celtic with his left foot;headers, penalties, overhead kicks - they're not all tap-ins. I don't care about the level, quality finishing is quality finishing. Some people are just plain Boydist:)
  13. Normally I'd agree but we can't afford to lose this one and this fixture is due a draw, so I'd settle for a point. Laff and Naismith for me if Novo doesn't make it.
  14. It's a stupid rule, that. If the Reserve League is to be scrapped then we need a good competitive arena for our young players, so all we have is loan games.
  15. Funnily enough, that's exactly the team I envisaged too. Doesn't look half bad does it? I think we should give Naismith time - he showed a lot of promise at Killie. Sometimes we are too quick to reject players. Look at Ross McCormick; we could have perevered with him a bit more.
  16. Given that Newcastle may sell Given (sorry 'bout that couldn't resist) I wouldn't be shocked to see McGregor signed as replacement. If we could persuade them to take Fergie as well, then maybe we could get, say, £5 or £6 m and that would not be bad business, especially if it keeps Boyd and Bougherra at Ibrox.
  17. Yes, must agree with the 'Scottish and British' element. It did set me thinking though. What would be our stance if Scotland were to become an independent nation? Although it may not seem likely at the moment with the economic situation, I wouldn't be surprised to see it happen in my lifetime. As an exiled Scot, I've always thought that devolution was the worst of both worlds - either a fully independent Scotland or a full member of the United Kingdom, no halfway house (Home Rule is not independence). As Burns said, "'Sic a parcel of rogues in a nation", referring to the sell-out of Scotland for English gold. Yet he himself signed up to the Dumfries Volunteers just before his death.
  18. In the long term - Thomson I reckon is captaincy material.
  19. Nice to know that the art of cynicism is not dead!
  20. I actually remember him being sensational in a televised 5-a-side for Spurs, but will never forget that cup final. Still have it on an old Standard 8 film reel, Derek Parlane et al.
  21. Not THE Alfie Conn, surely?
  22. Appeasement? Won't appease me. IF we have to move someone, would prefer it be Barry. We've got his position well covered now with Thomson, Edu and Davis.
  23. Happened to me as well. FF seems to be run by intolerant megalomaniacs.
  24. The club didn't turn down money - it was apparently Kaka himself. Think the money men at the club were already seeing pound signs.
  25. Moyes has all the credentials we seek, but he is an ex-wearer of the green and white hoops - that would certainly rule him out. Why would the fans be any more likely to accept him than Mowbray?
