Naughty! Don't joke like that. Actually, can anyone remember Pat Jennings scoring from his own area, or is my memory starting to go?

Glad to see someone sticking up for Broadfoot. The stick he's taken - especially on the 606 forum - is shameful. People forget he's out of position at RB and has done a decent job IMO at CB. something about the RB spot and gers fans - think Mo Ross,Hutton, Bob Malcolm - some don't seem to like it if we play a youth from our ranks. Hutton had to show great strength of character to survive and I think Broadfoot will prosper once he remembers he's not Beckenbaur.

The "wee rebel turncoat" may find himself running into a big black wall in the shape of Edu!

Surely the one player who can make 4-5-1 work (because he did it in europe last season) is JCD. BUT - he can only give us 70 mins at best, so the question is, who comes on? IMO the only way Miller can be accomodated is if he is played up with Boyd and WS won't play with those two at CP I'm sure. Think Lafferty may still be unfit but I'd like to see him given a chance in the lone striker role.

Thanks. I checked it out. It's truly shocking. I've always believed that decisions even themselves out over a season, but I'm starting to wonder. If C****c get another controversial one on Saturday it could cause a riot. We need to start looking at some sort of legal redress. Any solicitors on Gersnet?

You're excelling yourself at the moment. Wish I was as IT proficient as you.

A great article if I may say so. Only thing I would add is I don't see why so many bears are upset about Davis on the right. Yesterday he was not a touchline-hugger, he was coming inside and linking quite effectively I thought. With Novo there he has cover down the right. I'd go for 70 minutes of JCD up front though. For the last 20? Now there's real dilemma...
-
No - was just making the point that other teams are not frightened to play youngsters - nothing to do with Everton per se.
-
My heart sank when I saw yesterday's team. The good news - McCulloch and Adam out; the bad news Miller in - on the left wing! To be fair he did his share of chasing back, but when we have so many left-footers - Aaron, Beasley,Fleck, even Adam, then this just smacks of perverseness. "Don't worry, son, I'll get you in the team somehow." In England yesterday, Everton played 2 17-year olds, young Ramsey has seen the first team at Arsenal, and there are other examples, but WS seems over-protective of our precocious talents. Fleck and Aaron on the bench when they could both have given us genuine attacking width that migh just have sealed the points, that appalling decision notwithstanding.

Nicely-written piece Frankie. I've actually always liked listening to Forsyth on Radio 2 but this has made me think again. It was a cheap point he was trying to make. I can't imagine any Rangers members of the TA booing God Save the Queen - it was surely another instance of the Tims' identity crisis.

Beasley and Edu played in a World Cup tie last night for USA - although only in 2nd half. If he's fit enough for that...
-
Yeh, you're probably right. Still what do we know, we're only supporters.

As I write, have just heard that (1) Davis has signed; and (2) that Bresciano deal is close as well! Blimey, we're being spoiled!

Yes it was. This one is already a full international though. Doesn't mean that he'll be as hapless as Svensson though - was PLG that chose him.

Radio Snyde's football coverage this season?
alexscottislegend replied to 26th of foot's topic in Rangers Chat
Take it you're not a fan of Radio Clyde then. -
It's been a while since we signed anyone fron the Netherlands, surprising for a club who can boast Numan and the de Boers among their ex players. I too think there is value for money there but WS seems to have a blind spot for the country. Could this be because of the disparity in wages between Scotland and the Netherlands?
-
They would be good buys but both are left backs and as you say, it's right back where we need to look first. Sadly can't think of anyone, except Stevenson the Hamilton right back looks promising - too inexperienced at the moment.
-
Point taken - it's been a gradual decline, but no one can deny the start of this season has seen the biggest single crisis we've had, at least since the dark days of PLG. All I'm saying is we think carefully.

Must admit a potential midfield of Mendes,Fergie and Thomson has me salivating, whether as part of a 4-5-1 or a 4-3-3. Certainly don't think we need 4-5-1 for most SPL games though. Only problem is if we play 4-4-2 we have to leave out one of them. Not a problem till Barry comes back though. Wouldn't it be great to see him fight for his place?
-
I'm not frightened of change per se but I am suspicious of knee-jerk reactions. We know SDM wants out but we must be sure that whoever takes over is not coming in on a host of false promises. It's all right for MF to talk about performing seals and nodding dogs, but I feel that way too about the government. We are not stakeholders in Rangers FC. It's not like BARCELONA where they have members with full voting rights as against mere supporters.
-
Just a short response here. What IF there were another Abramovich you say. There will NEVER be such a type as long as we play in the SPL. Sorry that's a fact.
-
Would be interesting to hear the answer, but surely in most transfers nowadays the cash is paid in instalments? That's just normal practice isn't it?

Agree with Gribz's squad, but the real conundrum we have is with the strikers i.e. in a 4-4-2 what's our best two? Velicka and Boyd - played twice, seem too similar to be effective. Miller and Boyd - Boyd for his goals; Miller could be the partner he needs as he offers pace, intelligent running (he's not the headless chicken some make out) and support for Boyd - not tried yet. Miller and Velicka might work. V brings goals and not much else. Novo and Velicka - worth a try IMO. Novo is only a stop gap at wide right. That just leaves Lafferty. He and KM is a non-starter. They both scored about a dozen goals in a 100 games! Lafferty - WS sees him as a central striker. Worth a try with Boyd? I think best solution may be a front three - Miller,Boyd and Lafferty/Aaron/Beasley.

If you look at the youtube clips you'll see that he uses his right quite a lot. Likes to start on the left and cut in, bit like Beasley. But I think he's comfortable anywhere in a forward position.
