1. And does that mean we will have Ally as manager then? Much as I love him, that thought fills me with horror. Which brings me back to who could we get, who is available and who would take the job? My favourite would be Martinez from Swansea (someone, sorry can't remember who first suggested him). Other than that, Billy Davis.
2. Hate to say this but Barry Ferguson - is this the beginning of the end for him? Can't remember him having a good OF game to be honest. We need Thomson back now more than ever. Mendes - today his passing was awful, but whether he will be the player we all want is now debatable. Walter HAS to win the league now,
3. I loved last season too. Great to get away from the parochialism of Scotland and see our club's name paraded around Europe. Yes the football was backs-to-the-wall, but with the players we had, Alex Ferguson or Guus Hiddink could not have done more. You can criticise WS for buying them, but he was and is hamstrung with the financial constraint we now operate in. To say he could have bought better or used other tactics is another argument altogether. Last season IMO was still a success. This season not winning the title will be a disaster.
4. Unfortunately I'm posted hundreds of miles away so not able to get to Ibrox sadly. But I certainly wouldn't be frightened; I've had a fixed penalty charge for saying a naughty word in the presence of - but not directly at - a not-too-friendly plod. But they couldn't do much against 40,000 bears, as I've said before. It's likely they'll pick on some poor sod as a test case. In that instance we should all help by making donations, organising petitions, whatever.
5. Problem is if he goes we have to find TWO top-notch defenders, because we cannot rely on Weir much longer. That was the situation too when Cuellar left.
6. The Billy Boys will never return as a result of some challenge in court. Disagree with you here. I think the only way this nonsense will end is to have it out once and for all. TBB is assuredly political as any half-decent lawyer could easily aver. The 'sectarian' tag is conveniently added by our enemies to try to make it actionable and it this which should be challenged. In any event, if a law is a bad law then we have a duty to defy it. These corrupt morons in power only govern with the consent of us, the people. The Poll Tax laws were unjust so they were resisted. They cannot jail 40,000 people for singing a song when paedophiles walk free from court and the likes of Mandelson can spend thousands of pounds of taxpayers money on flowers FFS.
7. Naismith and Lafferty as a partnership for Sunday, anyone? Interesting to see Webster and Smith featuring - that's almost a first X1
8. Once the initial euphoria had died down, I started to think: that means they now have less games than us this season, so less chance of getting injuries. Maybe it would have been better if we were not in the cup and they were? I know that's heresy to some but it's just that I want the league title so badly. Anything less is a disaster.
9. Be interesting to see who the 'eight' actually are. If you took a straw poll among most Gers fans they would probably be: McCulloch,Dailly,Adam,Gow,Miller,Whittaker,Lafferty and maybe Weir. One thing I know for sure is we can't afford to lose Bougherra,Davis, Mendes or Novo. And maybe McGregor. Oh, and we need to keep Thomson. Just can't make my mind up about Ferguson.
10. Think that's what I need to do. Anyone ever tell you you're a gem?
11. I've tried several times when responding to posts to highlight selected areas, but all I do is end up deleting it. Or I delete the parts I don't want and it just comes out in b&w. I want get selected parts in highlighted blue. Does anybody know what I'm talking about? O.k. I admit to being a dinosaur when it comes to 'techy' things. Somebody help me please.
12. Cammy - if that were true there would be no problem. The problem is that we know Fifa want to have just one U.K. voting voice, and we can't trust them - look at Blatter's recent comments to an SFA official. And I don't think Gordon Smith would oppose it just to be awkward.
13. Can you honestly say that, man for man, we are not better than our East End cousins? Yet they keep snatching victory from the jaws of defeat. What does that tell us?
14. How do 'they' keep getting late goals? Why the hell can't we do this?
15. Let me put it this way. Are supporting Rangers and supporting Scotland mutually exclusive concepts? I would love nothing better than for the Scotland team to be made up of eleven Rangers players, preferably eleven Glaswegians. But whenever the Scotland team is picked I hope they do well, whoever is playing for them. I'm sure Man u/L'pool supporters still support England even when their hated rivals have representatives on the pitch.
16.
Well that looks positive we already have a replacement for Beasley on the left.Oooh, you are awful, but I like you.
17. You know what? This is so important I would say sod the Scottish Cup and the League Cup if it means we can be injury free for the title run-in. We should use those competitions to give experience to the younger players.
18. [ If he does plump for Gordon, will he loose the respect of the media and the fans, especially those Rangers fans that still support the national team? If I were McGregor and I was overlooked in favour of Gordon, I'd follow Boyd's example and tell Burley where to stick his team. Cammy F I really can't undrstand anyone wanting all our players to withdraw from the Scotland set-up. Do you ever hear English players saying they will never play for their country if they dont get picked for a match? I always thought we Scots were more patriotic not less. As it stands, Burley has warned Gordon his place is under threat. Sure, Mac. is the man in form, but it's just a matter of time before he gets his Sunderland place back IMO. Re the Boyd situation the ball is in his court. He pulled out - rightly or wrongly - and it is his place to announce he wants to return. At the moment there is no way Iwelumo will get a start over him.
19. Yes - I just meant that he is not a natural winger. He started out as a traditional CF.
20. Likewise he shouldn't be charging down the left wing like a left winger! Leave that to Lafferty, MCulloch and Adam:)
21. And what was being sung. Watched it on Setanta, had it on quite loud and all I heard was a few snatches of 'No surrender'. But 's that not specifically banned. At any rate it's no different to what I heard the other night on Rab. C Nesbitt. Guy lays dying and someone says, 'he's turned blue.' "Course he has, he's a Hun!". Would have lauged at that at one time but now..
22. Kyle lafferty yet again failed to impress and its beggars belief he got the nod for today considering who was on the bench. Actually I thought Lafferty played quite well; he always looked a threat, but remember it's not his fault he's playing out of position. Walter said he was in there because he wanted 'height.' So why not put him in the middle? He's had this obsession about playing a natural centre forward out on the left since he brought McCulloch here. But to take him off for Whittaker? When Aaron and Fleck - proven left-siders - were on the bench? As you say it beggars belief.
23. I love this chronicle of everyday hacks. Have you some inside knowledge here?
24. I take your point but if he was playing for us wouldn't you put up with all? If yes, then fair play to your integrity. Wish I could be so sure.
