Totally agree. But I have mixed feelings. Remember Gretna in Europe? To have another 2nd tier team would be a disaster.
-
At the time he was considered to be the worst buy in the premiership. Souness even tried to make excuses for him, saying the pitches didn't suit his long legs or something like that. Anyway, he didnt look the same player; maybe we over-rated him too much. Wouldn't say the same about Cuellar - he was a standout against European opposition.

Don't follow you here. If he doesn't sign (possibly advised not to by his agent) then we lose him for nothing.

Celtic Management hilarity thread
alexscottislegend replied to Jim White's topic in General Football Chat
My God, that was quick. Seems Traynor's opinion in the Record did the trick. Only problem is: who would take the job? Obvious candidates are Lambert (who has ruled himself out seemingly) and John Collins. Either way, it's good news for us. -
Post -bollocks shabbyism - love that.

Andy - I well remember that Orwell essay. I think he was referring to the hi-jacking of sport by the Nationalist/right wing lobby. In which case he was right. The Gers v Dynamo match was ill-tempered and we were unlucky to have got only a draw (ref. Hugh Taylor "We Are the People.") What I am puzzled by is the assertion/inference that he would ever be attracted to the Parkhead school of political correctness. During the Spanish civil War, he maintained a remarkably impartial status, though clearly his sympathies were with the POUM (the Trotskyist wing of the Spanish workers). You need to revisit 'Homage to Catalomia."

He's cetainly a better defender than Broadfoot. If Bougie stays, then we're sorted for CB; choose two from bougie, wilson (he MUST stay) and Webster.

London Based Property Developers and Rangers

So how will it emerge? It would be very difficult for the papers not to get wind of something before it is actually signed and sealed. -
Remember him well. Was no worse than McCloy IMO. 1972 was my proudest time of being a Gers supporter, the Barcelona aftermath notwithstanding.
-
Why is John Fleck not in either the U21 or the full squad? He may not have been brilliant but was still worth a place for his potential IMO.
-
So you're saying this sort of thing goes on elsewhere as well? And it's just our scummy media who choose to highlight it? That may be a the case but I think we - and Mac - don't need all this baggage. In another town he would be more anonymous. Remember a similar thing happening to Robert Fleck. I just think that it's becoming too much of a distraction - WS must be tearing his hair out. MCG can bring in some cash and maybe avoid getting seriously hurt. Sad but true.

Can't see how McG can be blamed in any way for this. He was at a party for a player from the dark side; you might think that was unwise, but it's always been known that players from both sides socialise. Sadly, I think it's time for him to move away from Glasgow and the infamous 'goldfish bowl.' Why doesn't this happen in Manchester or Newcastle or Liverpool - they're not too big to be goldfish bowls.

Showing your age there, mate. Ah, the old M&B partnership.
-
Great article mate. Personally I would go for Whittaker at right mid as he did briefly when Hutton was behind him, only this time have him backed by Broadfoot. Just out of interest, what was the Scott Fitzgerald short story you mentioned?

http://www.eveningtimes.co.uk/rangers-unveil-plan-for-stadium-revamp-1.977782 Thought we were broke? Surprised there's been no comment here about this. Personally would hate a name change. Can you imagine the Samsung Stadium for instance? I know some will say what's in a name but I just think the name Ibrox has a magic about it, being an old softie. Still, am I being naive in thinking if they're even talking about this then the financial situation may not be as bad as some think?

Could open the way for Greg Wylde to come in to the squad and develop like Wilson and Fleck.

Was trying to work out who 'Davo' was. Have we signed a Ukrainian, Davydenko that I didn't know about? Turns out it's Steve Davis! Why do the media come up with this baby talk ffs? Is Novo now to be known as....Novo?

And you'll end up in Tesco!

Boyd: Thread Updated: Back in full training this week
alexscottislegend replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
Ssssh! If we all keep quiet, maybe they'll forget about it. -
Have I missed something? When he was at Ibrox was it an open secret that he supported them? Or is this more media guff?
-
Can't help thinking maybe Arfield from Falkirk is a better bet. Anything to keep Davis in to central midfield. We're short of wide right types, though Whittaker can do a job there.
-
Radio Scotland reporting that said Hamilton player could be in to replace Mendes. Thoughts, anyone? Never disappointed to see a good young Scot at Ibrox, but can't say I've seen this lad do much. Still he's rated by a lot of people.... Not a certain starter I would think.

Daily Record lifts lid on Establishment
alexscottislegend replied to Frankie's topic in Rangers Chat
I'd like to see the phrase' "The Quintessential British Club" displayed somewehere at Ibrox, in much the same way as "This is Anfield" is displayed at the tunnel of Liverpool's ground. Imagine if the RoI- loving C****c players had to pass that on their way on to the Ibrox pitch.- 13 replies
