  1. Hopefully this now means the end of Lafferty and Naismith on the wing. Just hope that Fleck gets a look in as an attacking midfielder. If Jelavic comes, then Velicka and Lafferty would be surplus to requirements.
  2. Yeh, all:) right!
  3. Sloppy journalese mate. I loathe those cliches like the one this morning talking about McGeady -he has 'lifted the lid' on his time in Glasgow. What lid would that be? The one covering the dustbin he crawled under?
  4. Seems they are only trying to cup-tie him to screw us. how childish. If the roles were reversed we wouldn't go this far to keep an unhappy player.
  5. Here we go again - is it really worth responding to?
  6. St Etienne play in green - is that what you're thinking of? Dont otherwise see how they've confused us and them.
  7. Delighted to see the wee traitor banished. He won't last long there anyway and hopefully will fade away into obscurity.
  8. There are a number of reasons why I hope we sign this fella: 1) He can play the lone striker role, which Boyd could not. And 4-5-1 seems to be the way to play these days. 2) Even if we pay £4m. the Keltic have given us £2m of that with their CL non-exploits. 3) With him on board, less opportunity for Lafferty to continue to flatter to deceive. 4) Fleck is sidelined. 5) He's young enough to improve and generate some sell-on value. 6) Like with Prso it would be the kind of signing to give the fans a lift. The only negative I see may be that Lafferty returns to the left flank. Ugh!
  9. I'll be supporting Motherwell and Hibs now as well as us because we need all the help we can get. While I have no fears of us not winning the SPL every season, I don't want to have to pre-qualify for Europe each year. Those of you cheering Keltic's demise will do well to remember that.
  10. Thanks mate! I was having a 'senior moment'. Hemdani was indeed who I was thinking of. At this rate I'm liable to get Lafferty confused with Boyd.
  11. Ouch! But my point still stands - he just didn't fit in to the system used in domestic games, while in his rare appearances in Europe he was much praised.
  12. I think you've forgotten the holding roles he played in Euro ties. He was excellent there but couldn't get a place in the system Walter used for SPL games.
  13. He's had an outstanding season, played well against us, young enough to improve. At least as much potential as Eagles. If SPL players are good enough for the championship they're good enough for us in the market we're now in.
  14. Now we can go for Craig Conway. He wouldn't turn down £15k per week.
  15. Me too. Eric would have been a good shout. Still have faith in Levein, though. An army of top cllass assistants is no guarantee of anything. Just ask Fabio Capello!
  16. Thought he was going for £3m but I take your point. Our biggest asset is now Davis. I hope he doesn't have a great start to the season or we'll be reading stories like: "Martin O'Neill is tracking Rangers mideifelder Steve Davis..." Could maybe put up with all these outgoings if it included Lafferty. I have a horrible feeling he will never fulfil his potential. Eagles may give us what we're looking for on the right, but on the left it looks like it will be Fleck, Naismith or somebody else played out of position.
  17. Yes, what happened to all this "We don't need to sell' nonsense we were getting?. Davis and Thomson seemed an ideal CM pair for me with Thomson being left-footed, though it will mean more chances for Edu. I'd take all this 'good deal' stuff more seriously if we accepted an offer which was more than we paid for him. As it is sounds like Middlesbrough held us to ransom - take it or leave it. Sell Fleck, Wilson and McGregor and my misery will be complete.
  18. I'm not. Bale is a good young FB but Zappa must have seen Wylde. He's been touted as a great prospect for us, much in the same way Wilson was. Hope it's true.
  19. Is that his position? Thought he was the left back of the future?
  20. But why? They're dependent on any cash they get for wee Aids, while we will have Champion League cash. Just think: we could sell him on for a lot, so wouldn't really be a gamble. And most importantly of all: he would solve our left side problem. You're also forgetting he wouldn't cost anything - it's a Bosman loophole! How can he prefer THEM to a shop window exposure in the CL?
  21. Now's the chance for us to nip in and sign him; echoes of the Mo Johnston signing. Wouldn't they just love that?
  22. Only one I'd take is Govou.
  23. He's more of a left winger than those 3. Which is why I think we've missed out. He'll be better for them than McGreedy IMO.
  24. Spot on there. Love the way Germany play but I hope Holland win the WC. Then we can claim we lost out to the best team in the World.
