I think we have a core of players comparable with Manure's crop of Beckham and Scholes if we persevere with them. We just need to have experience in the right places to complement them. I'd far rather we kept our youngsters than made dodgy loan and transfer signings. Short-termism is what I don't want to see.
-
Yeah, that's a good point. Bain must have known he'd demand something like that. Given that, we shouldn't waste time trying to sign anyone unless he's a class centre back. Let's focus on keeping our best young players on longish contracts. Maybe even Wilson is regretting moving.

And considering we need reinforcing at CB don't forget Danny Shittu. Where is he BTW?

Can't understand why L'Pool fans wanted Dalglish so much. Didn't they notice how poor he was at Celtic with John Barnes? Appointing someone on sentiment is never a good idea.

I'm watching it right now on the BBC News website on computer. Try the red button on your tv as well.

You imply it's a personality clash. Would hate to think that's the case. Surely WS would not be that small-minded.Wouldn't be a bad idea to go on loan. Maybe he lacks the temperament but it's very strange.

We should be encouraged that he managed 90 minutes on the bench!

I had to listen to the game on Radio 5 Live and the commentators were raving about him. Pat Nevin even described him as "Hoddle-esque" in his range of passing. Before the game I was concerned WS had picked him, but he's nailed the myth that Walter doesn't play youngsters. This is the sort of player we should build around; we once had a left-footed midfielder who spray the ball around - his name was Jim Baxter. We should also find a way of integrating Fleck into the team - Davis is clearly out of form and our best options IMO come from within, not the transfer market.

The Champions v The BHEASTS - Predictions

1-0 to us in the ninety-fourth minute. That would be so sweet considering the goals they get in injury time. -
Motherwell appoint Stuart McCall

Will be watching this one with interest. I've always thought that the identikit Rangers manager is one who has an affinity with club and has learned his trade at a lower level and been relatively successful. So Derek McInnes is one and until now I cannot think of another, though I would have thought Gough at one stage. Long term we need options if things don't work out for our Ally. -
Well put. They're going to end up as a team of guest players, like having a testimonial team every time they play. I'll wager Lennon is given his marching orders before the end of the season.

Don't think they were founded before 1873 but must admit i haven't checked.

Pete - I'm a Glasgow nationalist too, but I hate the prefix. You don't say LONDON Arsenal. We used to be famous. We are THE people. We are THE RANGERS. Put them right in Holland! Refer to Ajax as Amsterdam!

Europa Cup Draw - Rangers v Sporting Lisbon
alexscottislegend replied to Frankie's topic in Rangers Chat
Exactly. And we do need to progress. No good having a glamour tie if we get cuffed. For me our Europe progress is actually more important than the SPL because we WILL win that. -
Sorry I gave the wrong answer. I thought the 'F' word was "fuck" which I really don't like so I voted yes. However, the the other 'f' word - definitely 'no' because Hun isn't .

Rushden and Diamonds GK commits suicide.
alexscottislegend replied to Gazza_8's topic in General Football Chat
Yet police were reported as saying that "there were no suspicious circumstances". When a 24 year old commits suicide seems to me there's something very suspicious. -
I remember we once had a player called Alex O'Hara. He was crap though...Anyone else mind him?

Dougie McDonald has announced his retirement

Add to this the fact that the blundering SFA lied to the foreign refs about the real reason they were brought in, then it's clear to see that Scottish football is run by cowards and incompetents. -
Lennon and Reid are the two to blame for this, no one else. We've had refs criticised before but they've gone way beyond that with their refusal to see honest mistakes. BTW it was LOVELY to see Keltic suffer from a 94th minute goal the other day. How many times have they been given mysterious added-on time.

It's the wrong thread to have a debate like this but my point was that the UK is virtually a one-party state anyway, so similar are the Libtories and NewLabour. And the US is too (though at least they are trying to introduce free healthcare for all). The British are so supine that we might end up as the kind of backward country you speak of.
-
We really need to make a dent in the goal difference just in case the head-to-heads are level. Till that 9-0 which is a freak result in some ways we were ahead.

Gotta back up Gribz here. The United Nations declared the occupations illegal as the perceived excuse was WMD - now found to be totally fallacious. I've always bought a poppy to remember my grandpa who fought in WW1 - to remember the dead not to glorify war. As for your point about democracy - is the UK democaratic when there is only a chance of 2 virtually identical parties gaining power? Both Tories and New Labour are products of the PR machine and they both unconditionally support capitalism - a system which allows the like of Vodafone to escape a multi-million pound tax evasion while the rest of us have to endure cuts, cuts, cuts...
-
Also a certain boy from Govan was given one automatically(his working-class roots notwithstanding) when he guided a multi-million pound team to the Champions League title. Even if WS were to win the same with virtually no finance he would not be nominated by the Anglocentric powers that be. Despite natural club rivalries it was nothing short of disgraceful that Jock Stein did not receive a knighthood for his achievement in taking a team of Glaswegians to the summit of European football. It will also be held against WS that he had an indifferent time at Everton.
