Take your point, but they're not great options, are they? -
Smith Resigned To Losing Young Stars

The other options being Boogie if he can be bothered to come home, Weir and McCulloch? That is exactly why we need to hang on to players of this calibre. As Andrew pointed out these two are unlikely to get a sniff of any EPL side in the short term at least; it could actually wreck their careers. -

My gut feeling is the same as yours, but cutting off our noses etc. does spring to mind. But yes, they should rot if they really want to leave. -

Can't believe this. It is clear that agents have ruined the game. Soon team loyalty will be a thing of the past. I hope to God we can hang on to these two till their early twenties at least. Otherwise we should scrap youth policies and sell Murray Park. I'm serious; what is the point of rearing our own only to find that we are supplying someone else's first team. What it means for us is that we will need to be satisfied with rejects or players looking to wind down before retirement a la Weir. Most depressing thing I've heard about the club in a long time, including our financial state. -

He's been playing Wilson and Fleck has had limited opportunities because of the form of Miller; Steven McLean is a different class altogether. These youngsters are our real future. Wilson may fetch £2m now, but that's peanuts when you consider what we could get once he's had a bit more experience against better opposition, viz Champions League. Once we accept the idea of selling off the family silver then we've just become a selling club, like Hibs. -
NoBoydy does it better. (come on, I've only had 2 groans in my career!

Ferguson chasing rangers defender wilson

So what you're saying is, forget yoth policies because we'll lose all our our players anyway? Right, let's just scour the Junior leagues for bargains and hope that they don't become too good for us.- 19 replies

Ferguson chasing rangers defender wilson

what we should be doing is guaranteeing our top youngsters first team football - and pointing out that if they leave before they've garnered some decent experience they'll likely be propping up someone's reserve team. I doubt Wilson is ready yet to go straight in to Fergie's starting Xl. It could be a bad move if you make a couple of appearances then get binned for some multi-million signing. Playing for Rangers F.C. should be seen as an honour in itself. If we let our future go on the cheap or without a fight, then change our name to Hibs.- 19 replies

Watched the game on ESPN. Where the hell did 6 minutes of extra time come from? Whenever Fergie moans the officials give in to him.
-
You thought he got the fortune decision 'spot on'. (your words)

Assume they'll beat Killie when it's re-arranged - still leaves us 4 ahead. But points in the bag is always better - I though we proved that last year. Just imagine the pressure on them. And we still have an Ibrox OF game to put them to bed.
-
That's my favourite Boyd goal - shades of Van Basten. and with his LEFT foot, a fact often forgotten; he's almost equally good with both feet. Just needs to improve his heading now:)
-
I'll probably get slaughtered for this, considering how worried they are on Kerrydale Street, but I'd take a draw right now. Not having Miller and Beasley has changed things a bit for me. We don't need to win; if we do, I'd say that's the title wrapped up, but if we keep the gap to 7 points, then 'they' will be unable to claw it back, especially considering the goal difference. The OF game is due a draw - why not this Sunday?

Player of the Year now. And I mean Scottish, not Rangers. Who would've thought it 6 months ago?

Beasleys injury not as bad as 1st feared

No need - Kirk Broadfoot will handle the traitor all on his own. -
Have you heard about the lad Islam Feruz? Born in Somalia but brought up in Scotland and eligible only for Scotland and Somalia? Surely you could'nt object to him?
-
Think there's a big difference with someone like Nacho playing for us as he has put in a fair stint playing and living here unlike Danny Fox, say, who is using us a flag of convenience. Yes, he is good enough, but much as I love him, he's not Scottish and would prefer if we gave his place to someone a bit more bona fide.

After twelve and a half seconds of today's game .......

'Timosapiens' - must add that one to my collection. -
Accies just had a perfectly good goal disallowed. Still, seems our goal difference remains intact - and that could be important.

Disagree. It's the TA that need educating; they need Rangers contribution far more than that of any other club - half the Scotland players are in our squad, think about it. How many indispensables hail (sorry, no pun) from the East Side? The same club who pulled ALL their players from the Kirin Cup so they could play in a testi-effin'-monial? John Greig: Rangers AND Scotland Jim Baxter: Rangers AND Scotland Davie Cooper: Rangers AND Scotland Sorry, I don't want to see Scotland slide to the level of Luxembourg just because we want to preserve our club's integrity. We are the boys in (different) shades of blue.

This is my 1,000th post coming up, so go easy on me. Always respected Craig Brown, but here I totally disagree with him. I think the issue with Boyd was more to do with Burley rather than Scotland per se. Levein said recently he's met him and likes him. Try as I might I just cannot see a better partnership for Scotland than Boyd and Miller; I've written the latter off many times but his first goal v Motherwell was a peach.
-
If I remember rightly, he was signed when we still had Hutton. Was not the plan that he would play wide right with Hutton at RB rather than a like-for-like replacement? Like Andy, I would hate to see his career take a nosedive after all the great goals he's given us (and not just the Lisbon one either).

You're forgetting that we will STILL need a CB because Weir is slowing down. Wilson and Webster, anyone? How about Barr at Falkirk? Can't be too dear if anything is left of the Majid money.

C****c V Rapid Vienna.

I hope you're right about that. I've been influenced by an article in the Evening times the other day. You'd think I would have learnt by now not to trust Scottish journalists.
