We should start a sub-forum of our own. The names roll off the tongue: Ritchie, Shearer, Caldow, Davis, Paterson or Baillie, Baxter; Scott, McMillan, Millar, Brand and Wilson. First game my uncle took me to was Rangers 0 Airdrie 0. 1958 or 9 I think.

Seriously, could that happen? There was no problem when the dark side used Hampden for some league games when their midden was being sorted. Clubs lke Clyde could argue that they don't have the capacity to meet demand for tickets.

Who is this GLASGOW Rangers they keep going on about?
-
Yep, I still feel bitter, after he told us that Rangers was the biggest job in football, blah,blah,blah..Murray did tell him to go now, but it was the fact he wanted to go that rankled. Strangely I don't feel quite so bitter about Naismith et al, probably because at 25 he would be wasted in a lower division. Ness and McCabe - that's a different matter.

A really good well-written article which highlights just how stupid most of the clubs in Scotland have become. If we go to Div. 3 I fear part-time football beckons for the top tier in Scotland.
-
What level of English league could we go in at though? If we could accepted into the Conference Premeier that may be acceptable but below that we would spend YEARS trying to climb to the top of the greasy pile - it might kill us for good. There are some big names in the Confgerence like Lincoln and Grimsby, Nothampton in League 2 were once in the top tier. The English levels are nothing like the Scottish 3rd where we should be able to do a Gretna and go up in successive seasons; that is unlikely to happen what erver level we enter the English league.

RST Statement - Division 3 Only Option with No More Sanctions
alexscottislegend replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
As someone on the outside of this it's hilarious listening to you two. You're like Tracy and Steve from Corrie. -
Hope you're right bit it may not be as simple as that.
-
Exactly. Careful what you wish for. Our fans said Div. 3 but they could reject us as it hampers their chances of promotion before season even kicks off (to their way of thinking..)

Malcolm Murray blamed for blowing chance of SPL reprieve

I thought St Mirren had done a last minute u-turn in our favour? -
But Craig - what's the point if there is no one to play because half the clubs will be out of business? We have nowhere to go but Scotland. And please don't anybody quote me Cardiff - that was done a long long time ago.

Statement from Clyde FC re SFL meeting
alexscottislegend replied to forlanssister's topic in Rangers Chat
Disagree. To just f*** them is not a good enough reason to go to Div. 3. We may have no one to play when we eventually get back. -
I'm getting really worried now. I can't for the life of me understand why so many of our fans want us to start in Div. 3 knowing it could spell the end of several SPL clubs. It can only be for the reason that we want to see Scottish football stuffed as some kind of revenge. Yes, I appreciate that the integrity of the SFL means that a club cannot parachute straight in at the top - that's their rules after all - but for our 'sins' banishment from the SPL should be sufficient punishment. And there has to be an exception made: you'd think that the likes of P. Thistle would welcome the extra revenue we bring. If in 2-3 years half the SPL clubs are in liquidation then how does that profit us with no one to play? Forget the English leagues - it aint going to happen. So why destroy our bread and butter for some fit of pique. It's crazy. Mutally assured destruction.
-
How do you know that? They only named the 18 selected.

I think SPL with a 25 point deduction is a reasonable 'punishment'. The Div 1 is a compromise and I cannot understand why the Mortons and Hamiltons would want us filling their coffers. But Div 3 is just suicide for everybody. -

No, of course not. I'm referring to all the club chairmen and how it looks to an expat down south - bloody embarrassing. I know Regan and Doncaster are not Scots but it was Scottish organisations that hired them. Frankly, it's so serious that the SNP should get involved. -

You know I'm wondering if it isn't all empty posturing from them. It's their day in the sun and they're making the most of it. I cannot really believe that they would want to totally destroy professional football in Scotland. If that is the case then I hope Scotland never goes independent. Run a country? They cannot even run a football league. -
Well, I am. We should be well enough known not to need the Glasgow bit.

Was it not Trotsky who said that you cannot have a socialist island in a capitalist sea? Then again, he never visited Steelonia.
