  1. I'm very sorry but having read the letter on the link you posted I can see nothing that amounts to a threat or that would alert the police - they seem merely to be asking for clarification about SPL rules. I'm not gainsaying your opinion re the trust - just that I fail to see anything incriminatory in findlay's letter.
  2. I'd have preferred Beattie - more actual football in him not just a target man.
  3. What rubbish. Ness, Hutton, Wylde, Mcleod,Perry, Wilson just for starters. the problem is persuading the youth to stay here a decent length of time. Kevin Kyle? Don't make me laugh. All this will do is discourage what youth we have left. Despite the limitations of Jimmy Sinclair Murray Park has yielded enough gems.
  4. Neither do I.The squad we had already should walk Div. 3 Far, far, superior to Gretna and they waltzed it. What on earth do we need these players for? Div 3 is the ideal proving ground for Little, Perry, McLeod, McKay, and Hemmings.
  5. Ally is right - Wallace is much better than Danny Fox who he has lost out to. Apart from him though we no longer have any players who can be considered Scotland contenders: Jig is in the veteran stage and Broadfoot was never really good enough if we're honest. Hutton maybe in the future.
  6. Assuming you are right (and I'm not getting into that argument again), then I would have been much more likely to support GB if there had been some Scottish involvement. I can't believe that Steven Fletcher or Barry Bannan or Steven Naismith are not good enough to make the final cut. It was disingenuous of Pearce to say that his decisions were footballing ones - IMO it was just spite.
  7. You're forgetting that FIFA are looking for any excuse to merge the 4 nations. While that doesnt bother England (they will continue to call themselves England) I'm bloody sure I dont want to risk a Scotland team disappearing from view.
  8. Or enemies (not just the Keltic ones0 will no doubt use the chant of 'newco', 'newco' to wind us up. Just ignore them. At least we've not been named Glasgow Rangers. We are THE Rangers!
  9. Explain please? Do you mean Berwick Rangers?!
  10. I've heard a lot of good things promised for young Lewis McLeod. Anyone have any info. on him? What position does he play in midfield?
  11. Of course.
  12. And here's me thinking it was Harry Ramsden's chip shop!
  13. The point is it's the third division we're in - we don't need anything special.Hutton and McKay and Mcleod - all promising youngsters will just move on if we fail to give them experience.
  14. I think the whole point is that the Div 3 standard is so low that we should walk it. Remember Gretna: their squad was supposedly bankrolled by Miles thingmy yet their most prestigious signing was James Grady! If they could get to the SPL in 3 successive seasons then we should think blackburning shame of ourselves if we can't do that too. With whatever squad we have.
  15. Given which, it would be better to take a year out the game and call their bluff in the courts. Accepting their blackmail leaves us a hostage to fortune, a risk not worth taking. We've been punished enough. Couldn't we go to the CAS in europe?
  16. We will never get back into europe as long as folk on here keep wanting other Scottish clubs to lose. The co-efficient will be so low that we will probably have to play 3 preliminary rounds before we get the chance to be knocked out by Real Madrid or some such. If you want automatic qualification for the Scottish champions then we need ALL Scottish clubs to be as successful as they can.
  17. I'd be delighted if we could do that but when you look at for example, Ajax 4 Celtic 0 and consider we'd get a top draw in almost every opening qualifying tie then we would need massive investment to have even a sniff. We need all the help we can get. If we are never to play in europe again then we might just as well be truly liquidated.
  18. It's now at the stage where I would seriously advocate withdrawing from football for a year and pursue everything through the courts: it's restraint of trade. Clubs in England like Leeds and Portsmouth merely received points deductions for offences broadly similar to ours.
  19. Not in the least funny. We cant play in europe so we need ALL Scottish teams to claw back some co-efficient points so in the future Scottish teams can qualify for the Champions League. If it's more important to you that all Scottish teams fail, then that is very sad. I suppose you want all the SPL to go out of business too?
  20. You're joking aren't you? Fergie was a great player but we need to re-build around young players of the future aided by say Jig and Broadfoot, not fill our team with veterans.
  21. It always was Rangers FC. We have never been known as Glasgow Rangers and Celtic have never been Glasgow Celtic. Wish these people would start calling Arsenal London Arsenal. Really pisses me off.
  22. What we must absolutely NOT do is take on someone looking for a last big payday. We should not be an elephants' graveyard; it was bad enough when we had Ostenstad, Capucho et al. Jig, Alexander and Broadfoot provide a core of experience. Young Telfer, McKay, Hemmings, should all get runs. That's why I was disappointed to see McCabe and Ness move on - they could have been the cornerstone of the great RFC revival.
  23. Hope you're right Andy. What might happen is that the SFL by default becomes the richer body. Which would suit us, in the short term at least.
  24. I really fail to understand the glee with which some of our fans are greeting this. When we get back to the top division we will need some one to play, no? Or do you think that the English Leagues will be dying to invite us to join, because I don't, not with the new foreign owners of Cardiif and Notts Forest for example all with their eyes on the EPL. Yes, I know that some clubs behaved hypocritically, not to mention their fans, but I for one do not want Scottish football to die.
  25. Remember him booting the ball out of the ground a few times - that seemed to be his greatest feat! Didn't he write for the Sunday Post some years later?
