R.T.I.D. NI Statement on Famine memorial
alexscottislegend replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
If Glasow has indeed made a special contribution to mitigating the effects of the Famine, then I see nothing wrong with it. Rangers fans are being pro-active here, thus taking ownership away from the MOPE Tendency. But I wonder if other cities (Manchester, Liverpool, London) could not also make similar claims? By way of comparison, a proportionally greater number of Glaswegians fought in the Spanish Civil War than those from similar cities, thus the statue on the banks of the Clyde to La Pasionara. -
Official site: Intention To Float On AIM

Dear forlan - please get the avatar of FS back please! -
There used to be a saying that the only way was down when you left RFC. Not just Wylde, but Ness - not even on the EPL bench! And D. Wilson. Youngsters have a better chance to develop with us then we can sell them on at a profit.
-
Exactly! You're not going to tell me that you would pass up the chance to pull off a giant-killing act. Imagine - them losing to not only a Div 3 team but one that according to them doesn't actually exist? And I'm not convinced that we would get a doing; a Motherwell-type performance where the pressure is all on them could be enough...

In the final we faced Fiorentina who destroyed us with the main tormentor a Swedish winger called Kurt Hamrin. Fantastic piece of montage Steve. thanks a lot. this was the time when I became a gers support er. And this is why we must always be playing in Europe.

Shame on the Scottish authorities that the first Minister of NI was able to meet RFC. Surely there must be some Rangers-supporting Scottish politicians?

Sebastien Faure -' Rangers Are A Religion'
alexscottislegend replied to chilledbear's topic in Rangers Chat
Let's hope there's no requiem for Faure (been waiting ages to make that pun) -
Don't think anyone on here is suggesting that we rely on an entire team of kids, but what we can do is to grow and develop a hard core of youngsters and flesh the team out in those areas where experience is vital - central defence, say or goal. Come to think of it, that's exactly how we are constituted right now. Just imagine if we had De Boer, McGregor and maybe Cannigia in their respective slots with the McLeods and McKays in theirs, then how would that look?

Liam McLeod's biased commentary
alexscottislegend replied to Max Rebo's Big Blue Nose's topic in Rangers Chat
[/b]Was it the BBC stream online I tried to watch? It kept freezing every 2 secs. and the commentary kept stopping. On the Beeb website there seems no way to complain. Wish someone could tell me why when my pc plays everything else? -
My desktop reception crap. Kept stopping and freezing every 2 seconds. Also lost sound commentary. Any ideas who to complain to? My pc is perfect for all else.

Rangers, the young players and Motherwell....
alexscottislegend replied to Bears's topic in Rangers Chat
We won't expect too much too soon but if Liverpool in the EPL can give a run to a 17 year old winger who's 5' 6" then I'm sure that we should have no fear about blooding youngsters in the comparatively calmer waters of the SfL. Sure, they will have dips in form but I for one am excited that just as soon as we lose Temps we can actually have come up with young Aird who can give us an excellent alternative, maybe even play in the same team on the right with Temp. on the left. Seems all these youngsters have come through despite not because of the presence of Jimmy Sinclair who has plenty of detractors on here. -
Charlie Adam but we didn't appreciate him.

Taken me a long time to come round to your way of thinking but seeing the chance of a quadruple go up in smoke, I reluctanly agree. Hope Ally is kept as Director of Football or some such - after what he did in the summer would hate for him to sever all ties. One more name - Billy Davies. -

"We don't do walking away."Maybe it's time now to consider just who are the candidates to manage us. I can only think of one - Derek McInnes but I fear we will have to wait till Bristol sack him. -
Re-read Waddell's article:admit I'm wrong!
-
Just to add to that: "off the spectrum" actually originates from being beyond the colour spectrum - way before autism was conceived of. doesn't invalidate your fine writing though.
-
It's a great read Andy, especially the Shakespearean references, but the expression "off the spectrum" has been around for a while now and I'm not sure that when people quote from it that they are actually conscious of linking it to autism. I actually think Waddell is one of the more sane journalists around and he is not a Tim apologist; he gets plenty of stick from them for attacking for example Lennon's outbursts last year.

Just meaning that he bangs on about the Scottish thing a bit much when he's actually of Irish heritage. I agree with you re the British thing; I too love many things English but I've never felt English even after 40 years of living there.
-
Agree re Connery (of Irish extraction BTW) - everyone now surely knows Andy is both Scottish and British, and it just seems churlish to go banging on about being Scottish. But it does raise a question; if in 2014 the vote goes for independence where will we as RFC supporters stand? Will we still tip the hat to the Union Jack etc? For me it's a false dichotomy. I'm a Scot first, Brit second - GB team means sod all to me.
-
So you'd be happy for us to be wound up and integrated with a GB side? Leve club loyalties out of this - the Scotland team is not the SFA and Ally agrees with me.
