Yes he deflected it into Kenny's path; a player in terminal decline. -

Love it if young Burt could come on and make an impact. Just like Lewis McLeod. -

I think he's picked the right team. Only way we will lose is if they stop Tav. and Wallace bombing forward. Their best defender is out too. We can trouble them at the back. The boy Roberts might be a danger though. -

In 1966 most England fans did not fly the St Georges Cross but the Union Jack when it was specifically England who were playing . Think you were too young to remember that! -
Halliday started out as a wide player though he's not played there for us.

I'd worry about losing Weir as well if MW went. Successors? We should keep an eye on McInnes; can't think of anyone else at the moment... -
Rangers giving a trial to highly rated youngster Matthew Knox...

My heart sinks every time I hear the term 'wonderkid' but great that we have taken a punt on him. Wonder what this does to Ryan Hardie's chances? -
Graeme Souness and the transformation of Rangers
alexscottislegend replied to Frankie's topic in Rangers Chat
I remember it well. We were hated by the English media for taking their beloved England players. Typical comments were: "Their form will suffer by playing in Scottish football.' At that time we were arguably the biggest and richest club in British football , Man U. notwithstanding. We may never get back to that level but we should aim to be a global player. Our main target should be qualification for the Champions League. Thanks to the incompetence of Keltic and all who sail in her, Scotland's co-efficient has plummeted so that we will have to negotiate 3 qualifying rounds. There's no point in spending on new players for the parochial Scottish League; and we will never be invited into the EPL, so we must start from scratch - just like we did with the fourth tier in Scotland. -
Lukas Podolski? interesting. Does he fancy playing for us?

Aaah! There was a name. Came from Shettleston Juniors did he not? When the juniors were fertile breeding grounds for future senior stars. But my point remains - he was an exception, it was just that he was not picked up sooner. Sorry - just realised I've really duplicated an earlier post! -

Whatever happened to him? Always enjoyed his posts even if I didn't always agree. -
Yep, got subbed when the match was won.

Watched this game on Alba. Thought Barrie was outstanding at this level; just needs to part with the ball a bit more at the right time. Think he's a better prospect than the much vaunted Ryan Gauld.

Gordon Strachan says Lee Wallace is still in with Scotland shout
alexscottislegend replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
Of course he will call him up; I don't know what you expect Strachan to say. But left back is our strongest position right now: Robertson, Tierney, Douglas from the Turkish league, to name but 3. I predict next season Holt and McKay will become regulars. -

'Ollygo for gordbabes' FFS where the hell do they get these 'journalists'. That really is infantile. -
I'm frightened at what they could do to Scotland in the World Cup. You have to ask how they can produce youngsters with such ability when their league is full of foreign talent. The only prospect we have is Barrie McKay.

Lee Wallace: I want to finish my career at Rangers...
alexscottislegend replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
It's not a disgrace it's just that we now have huge choice of left backs: Robertson, Tierney, Barry Douglas in Turkey who can't get a look in, Shinnie for a start. When we get back to the PL he'll be back; his defensive work is no worse than for example, Robertson's last night. -

Sooner or later one of these youngsters has to be the real deal. I'm tired of the term 'wonderkid'. If they're any good the cream will rise to the top. Who had heard of 18 yr old Marcus Rashford a few weeks ago? Harry Kane came through the youth teams. Just don't want to be hearing about a prospect when they are in the mid-twenties. I have heard it said that if you can't play by the time you're 18 then you never will. Controversial maybe, but the only place for youngsters to do their talking is in the first team. I fervently hope it's Mathew Knox - for the sake of us and Scotland. -
I don't even think it's unthinkable. For me, they are the underdogs. Griffiths has the potential to d us harm but the likes of Forrest don't cause me to lose sleep. I think it will be lot easier than we think.
