  1. Seriously? How can they possibly justify that? Not boycotting Ashley merchandise to me is like crossing a picket line.
  2. And two-footed as well! Looks a bargain for the money. We could make a lot here from the sell-on. Think of Wanyama and Van Dyke at Keltic - we could use dough like that. Not that I'd be looking to sell him soon - just thinking further down the line.
  3. Can't blame them for fielding a reserve team with the real CL coming up, they only did it for the money, but the point is the SFA should never have allowed a fixture holiday in the first place. Wonder who is in charge there? Oh wait...
  4. I hope that he is a target man type of centre forward, and good in the air - we're missing that type. Lost count of the times there was no one on the end of Wallace's crosses yesterday.
  5. Did not that very thing happen to Kris Boyd there?
  6. I know you're a cunning linguist dB but that's all Greek to me! At least I can improve my knowledge of the Cyrillic alphabet.
  7. Today Rodgers talked about how he didn't appreciate how good he is tactically! Well, he must be good at something because sure as hell he can't pass, time a tackle properly or even pop up with the occasional goal. He epitomises everything that is bad about Scottish football; he should be nowhere near the Scotland squad now and if Strachan prefers him to Darren Fletcher we're doomed.
  8. If Rossiter is a better bet than Barton, according to some, then why have we bought the two of them?
  9. Thank God we're not playing in Europe this year.
  10. Rousseau - you are so right. We are woefully ill-equipped to deal with quality teams because the practise we get is against Scottish teams who get turfed out of the Euro qualifying rounds every year before the season starts. And we cheer when they get dumped! And I get pelters because I want us to be tested in the best quality environment. This is the difference between the English Championship and the SPL.
  11. Was club captain at QPR - maybe that caused the confusion?
  12. Interesting. Do he and Barton not play essentially in the same position? I would have thought that he (and I think he's mainly right-footed) is seen as perhaps the long term replacement for Barton rather than as a complement to him.
  13. Sad about Butch. I always thought him a real gentleman. Should have been managerial material.
  14. I have no doubt at all that we will do that but my point is that we don't have to beat very much to become champs again. The championship is not much inferior to the SPL as is shown by times lower teams turn over the so called top teams in the cup competitions. If we don't have decent competition then we will be unprepared for the difficult tasks. Also remember we lost to virtually the same Hibs team who just flopped. What would we do v Brondby?
  15. Consider this though: if we become champions Scottish football will be so devalued that it undermines any 'achievement' by us. Imagine if our nearest challengers were a team beaten by Gibraltararians.
  16. Final word on this: if Scottish teams continue to fail, we will be so unseeded that we will get knocked out before September. This will be due to us not being tested in our own league so that a team from Latvia or Norway for example could outclass us. And that cycle will continue. Baffled how people don't get this. How often does a successful Euro team come from a weak domestic league?
  17. You know darned well it was before; but my point remains - how does a really weak Scottish League help sharpen our competitive instinct.? Regardless, regardless, of how they treated us?
  18. And we end up playing against pub team opposition. How can that be good for us? What you really want is for us to get out of Scotland and in to a stronger league. And that is still some way off. What i want is for RFC to be tested against the strongest possible opposition. I remember when Aberdeen were beating Real and Bayern; how good it felt to be beating a team that had accomplished that.
  19. Yep, we have to stop this cheering every time our rivals lose. Every team they lose to diminishes our status too; if the co-efficient is damaged we only end up with harder draws. Our league reflects on us, think about it.
  20. It's because you're cynical and twisted that I'm inclined to trust your judgement on this.:)
  21. I've had an email from Club 1872 asking me to register and update my profile. I make a small monthly contribution to Rangers First and can't really be bothered with the internal politicking. I trust you guys on Gersnet to advise the best course of action. What's the general concensus? Should I cancel my sub? Register with 1872? Just who are the good guys in all of this? Don't know anyone personally in the fans' groups but happy to take counsel from regular fans.
  22. That was always the standard argument - that Scottish football was slower-paced. I got fed up hearing that players had to adjust to the pace of the English game. It didn't stop most of our stars like the 2 you mention prospering down south though. Since then Scottish football seems to gone to the other extreme, maybe to the detriment of skill.
  23. Will he be first choice, would you think? He is an international after all...
