[ I firmly believe that we've missed a trick as a club and a support. We should be hailing from the roof tops about how diverse our support really is, we should be engaging with community groups in Govanhill, Castlemilk and beyond with large multicultural demographics and forcing the political class to take notice. I stood on the club deck concourse at the Ross County game and saw Sikh, Chinese, Black, White and Eastern European fans either outside on Edmiston Drive or inside the stadium wearing scarves etc without a care in the world and certainly not deterred from the club by the attempts of some to paint us as intolerant xenophobes. By downplaying or keeping stoic about the positive side of our club and support we play right into the hands of the REAL intolerant groups shaping the debate. Exactly. I remember when he had a young centre back (Jaz Jutla?) who was of Indian origin I think. Shame he didn't make it.

Coincidentally I was listening to a Radio 4 programme this morning which was talking about Liverpool's history and sectarianism brought about by Irish immigration. The city has a history not unlike Glasgow's, yet the Pro4stant -Catholic thing has always has the lid kept on it. An uncle once said to me that L'pool was the Protestant team and Everton the catholic but I've heard of both sets of fans standing together at games. And we never seem to hear of references to the Hillsborough dead. I'd hate to think there's something more poisonous about Scotland but it certainly is beginning to look that way. I remember abuse when I walked past the catholic primary in Penilee as a kid but the Aberdeen thing is something that started with the Simpson tackle and got blown up; it's baffling that there seems to be more hate generated by this fixture than the Keltic matches.

It's a bit like Hillsborough; did the Sun sack any of their journalists? Don't think any paper will go further than an apology. We may have to go down a legal route.

Serious question: I thought you couldn't just pull out of a competitive game unless excused by the medical staff of one's country? This was designed to stop clubs feigning injury of their players then playing them in the next club match? Didn't know about Lee being told he wouldn't play v Linfield. As for Griffiths and Tierney I would hope their injuries are genuine too.

This is the World Cup not a friendly. Don't anybody on here ever complain again if he gets overlooked. I thought countries had the power now to demand release from clubs, that absence due to injury was only allowed after examination by the doctor of the national squad. McCormack has reputedly said that he will only turn up if he is guaranteed to start; no player can make those kind of demands. In any event not sure he can play lone striker. Rhodes can't play as a one either and that is the formation - 4.2.3.1
