  1. I think it could be an excellent signing in the same way that Weir was. We need a leader on the park and someone with experience. The spl isn't serie a, depending how we play Gattuso he could do a job for years yet and I think the biggest thing is that we'd be getting someone, a world class player, who wants to play for the jersey. I think we'd be mad to overlook that and if he's doing his coaching badges, his influence on and off the park, particularly on the young midfielders could be vital during whatever rebuilding process we need to go through.

  2. Agree that leggoland can be all over the place and that's why it's hard to work out which parts of that article should concern us and which ones are just his opinion on how Green has chosen to conduct himself. In the list of statements about him, the majority could have an innocent explanation behind them, but at the same time they could set alarm bells ringing if you take a more negative view.

All I know for sure is that I don't know what the hell is going on with our club.

  3. From what I've seen though, Green appears to have some of the same problems that the blue knights did, in that actually raising money at this stage is difficult. Is that because there's a lack of appetite for the club given the sums of money to be made are much lower than what you could potentially get from a club in England, is it because he's just playing his cards close to his chest or is it because everyone involved is waiting for liquidation so they can start with a clean slate almost?

  4. I don't think the fact he's lending the club the money in the first instance is as much of a concern as is being made out. What's more frustrating is that we have the usual suspects on forums and in the media who have clearly made their minds-up about Green based on the limited facts. Again, as has been the case since Lloyds became a very public presence within the board room, we are left with having to take articles and posts at face value, often when they put a very distinct slant on what we do know as fact, so we don't know if the people writing them have got a hidden agenda. What was one of the disappointing things about the way that the blue knights thing went was that there seemed to be supporters who were 100% behind them and who took any sort of questioning of their bid and plan as some sort of personal insult. We then have these people asking similar questions of guys like Miller and Green without even a hint of the irony.

What's also very evident is that some people appear to be privy to information which isn't in the public domain about these bids. Which is fair enough. But if you can't share the specifics, it's pretty unhelpful to be giving out vague innuendo about why we shouldn't trust certain people or their bids. Best to just shut up in my opinion, but maybe some people like to show that they're "in the know".

A common theme on gersnet since I've joined is that with each new challenge to face the club it's been disappointing just how fractured a support we are. I've lost track of the amount of low points we've seen as a club over the last 7 years or so and each time I think this is the lowest we can go and that this will unify us as a support, but here we are again, this time literally at the abyss, and still many of the forums just seem to be interested in their own self promotion and self preservation.

Maybe I'm just getting old and cynical!

Just disillusioned by the whole thing really, to the point of almost not caring any more.

  5. So in all of this, why has no-one emerged to try and tap in to the financial resources of supporters and look at an ownership model of some sort? If the support was getting something tangible for their investment instead of just bankrolling some signings, surely that's going to be a viable option given there's a lack of funds coming in from investors?

At the very least, why isn't someone connected with the club asking the sort of questions that guys like Traynor and Leggo have been over the last couple of weeks?

  6. The actual content of the programme is what has been put up on the BBC website. The rest of the stuff is just filler, re-hashing of what we already know and sensationalising it at every opportunity. Daly seems to be intent on hamming it up and the Beeb have spunked a shed load of cash on some flashy effects.

He just needed to present the facts and what he's discovered, but can't seem to help himself. It makes the whole thing look incredibly amateur and open to the suggestion that it is a hatchet job. Daly has clearly done some great work in uncovering a lot of the goings-on since Whyte came in, but its all lost amongst the terrible production values and corny segments.

And where exactly are all these documents coming from?

  7. If he's on sensible wages it could be a very good move, especially if we're going to be relying more on guys like Ness and Hutton next season. A few wise old heads in the squad could be very important during what are bound to be a few tough seasons of transition and rebuilding.

  8. Surely Paul Murray would know better than anyone just how unrealistic (and unsustainable) it is to be relying on funds from Europe each season? That's one of the problems that got us to this mess in the first place.

  9. But whether those concerns about MD are founded or not, it's clearly a perception issue which the RST are aware of so should have addressed.

It's still a wee bit disappointing that we've had a series of big chances to galvanise as a support and get behind a single body, this recently being the biggest chance of all and there still seems to be a lack of natural leadership under a common organisation. Regardless of how things pan out under Miller, that would seem to be the first thing we as a support need to nail once and for all because our chances of interaction with him must increase massively if we have a unified and organised supporters group. It's why I found all this talk of fan ownership a bit fanciful as we're just not organised enough for it to ever be a go-er.

Btw, this isn't mean to take anything away from the amazing march last weekend which showed just what could be achieved in a short period of time with a strong, single goal and purpose.
