Two points in reply to that, Zappa: 1) If Gersnet was to come out with a statement, backed by all its users, I think it would mean something, because this site is not polluted by the cretinocracy which spoils the big sites; if, eg, all users on here were agreed Ally had had it, there would be very little way back for him, because the users on here are reasoned, sane and grown up. But that won't happen, I think. 2) The boycott - it's a waste of time thinking about it until we get back into some version of a top league. Any matches against SPL teams between now and that point will have the novelty value, aggro-element, whatever you want to call it. And any financial impact on these clubs - which is our one and only weapon, as fans, against them - will be minimal, cause their own fans/local timothy will turn out. The financial hit we can give them can only have any effect when we are just another member of a boring, seen-it-all-before top league. Then, when their fans have melted away even more than they have already, and they are reckoning on a Rangers based injection of maybe 5,000 ticket sales - then, when we tell them to shove their tickets and fuck up their cash flow for that month, then will it be worth getting the boycott into action. All talk of boycotts until then just makes it harder to organise what must be done when the time comes. See, it's at times like that my Marxist Revolutionary Training will come in handy. The day will come, fellow Bears, when you will stand assembled in Edmiston Drive hailing me and my lefty politics as the Saviour of Rangers. Who knows? Perhaps a Leninist statue, admittedly wider of girth than the great revolutionary, may one day stand beside Greig. edit: Sorry.

Sorry - supposed to say 'built the stadium at the same time'. U know, new stadium, new names...leads to name catching on....I don't care.

I hope you won't think I'm having a personal dig if I say that this post displays all that is worst about the messageboard. No proof, no inside knowledge, but claims just the same. That's the kind of thing that gives authorities - always eager to clamp down on freedom of expression, lest it reach as high as they - an excuse to limit freedoms. Ach, wine talking. Wylde could be a total prick for all I know.

Not as long as I have to pay for it, 54! I broadly agree with your point - but it sticks in the craw to fund people who hate my guts! -
30 mins in, 2-0 ICT. Co getting absolutely pumped - owned in midfield, toothless up front and opened up at the back. I think I will bin my 'Derek Adams - Another Fergie in the Making?' piece.

As above. Top quality post! -
If Gersnet came out and officially said, as a sort of mission statement, that it wanted an Orange strip, there's no way I would post on it. Not under my real name, anyway. I thought the only criteria for membership was being a bluenose (which it is, we all know that) and to put your name to this plan or that plan, or support this person or that person would just smack of site admin/owners getting too far up their own jacksies. Now you know how to get rid of me!

Couldn't care less if they rename it. It's only a fashion which will end when the business world finds something better value elsewhere, and it will bring in some money meantimes. As if we're going to say 'are ye going to the Flybe Stadium the morra?' The only example of the renaming sticking I can think of the Emirates, but that is coz they built the stadium.

Where did this idea that messageboards can adopt a position that reflects the wishes of their members come from? Blogs, aye, fair enough. But boards? Even here, with a select membership, we can't agree on the manager, the players, the formation, the owner, the previous owner, the administrators, the SPL, a boycott, the Orange strip...to imagine a messageboard can represent an entire constituency is just mad.

Going to watch this one. I've heard a lot about Derek Adams and want to see if the hype has something behind it or if it's the usual bullshit.

The Rangers Standard - Is BBC Scotland Biased Against Rangers?

I've moaned at them countless times, and never had even a reply, let alone satisfaction. We are truly banging our heads on a brick wall with that lot. -
I really don't need to be urged, Gunslinger, and I doubt any other Rangers fans does either. We have eyes & ears too, you know! I appreciate you are flagging up important issues - but in short, we get it.

Rangers signed the first overseas player in British football history, when they brought goalie Karl Pekarna over from Prague following a 1904 tour of the then Austro-Hungarian Empire. It was tours such as this which expanded the popularity of football around Europe. Although Karl never played - seemingly even then, we were a sucker for a foreign name.

Interesting story on one of our main critics the BBC.

If Spence is being paid £50,000 + to huff & puff into a microphone in a manner that a first year media studies student at Cardonald College would find embarrassing, there's no hope for Pacific Quay! -
New govt. committie putting the boot in again this morning, though. Can't be emphasised enough - while no Bluenose is proud of how Whyte ran the club, we're not taking stick from rank hypocrites.

Can't do you a money tree, will a (We Are The) People Tree do? Now, this is imaginative. -

Come on, man, that's miles off target. If Rangers FC want to pay tribute to fans from Ulster there are many ways to do it - pay for their travel on a specific weekend, play in the province, have a Red Hand flag day - I doubt if many of us would have a problem with that despite it, too, being open to charges of 'offensiveness' from the usual suspects - maybe a 5% discount on season books, I mean the only limit is your imagination. Flinging the sop of an Orange top at them (and expecting them to pay for it, I might add) is not only the least imaginative tribute possible, it verges on exploitation. -
League cup draw - Inverness Caley at home

Reckon I can organize 50 Bears, no worries. It's a little unambitious, but probably more realistic. I'm looking forward to seeing how the 'zombie' club performs on that night. Only and best way to shut up the chants is by winning. The high point of the game against Motherwell (one of them, anyway) was making whatever prick brought a bass drum with him to stfu...it was doing my nut in. Like being at a West Indies Test Match back in the late 70s. -

Hallowe'en! Kwality. How about really scaring the shit out of everyone by going to the game dressed as Lennon? Edit: Not advised for those using public transport, as you're liable to be refused entry to the bus. You will, however, be likely to pick up quite a few quid from kind-hearted passers by. -
